Now if we could just get the IGFA to stop accepting line class records, and stop flyfishing and the use of ultralight gear when targeting striped bass we could see the striped bass make a comeback.

and then Omega protein cam back around, and scooped up every last one. The consequences of Omega obliterating the menhaden fishery can never be understated.
The asshole politicians who run the Chesapeake Bay are always complaining about 'restore the Chesapeake' blah blah and tax the crap out of us but the real reason the Bay is in trouble is Omega and their purse seiners. I know it, you know it, everybody knows it but they do nothing to stop them. Every year the same shit "Where are the crabs?" The answer is they are in the striper's stomach since Omega scoops up all of their menhaden. And the menhaden filter the water, purifying it as well. Good god, we have some of the lousiest politician.
I'm 60 and when I was a kid we would see schools of bunker everywhere. They used to harvest them for fertilizer and cat food. Waste. Good to see them rebounding.

South Hampton. They are seen from Jones Beach to Montauk!
Fabulous video! I'm from Virginia and in the Chesapeake we're the problem. Virginia allows HUGE catches of mendaden - menhaden reduction fishing is a scourge and should be eliminated. Your video shows the possibilities. PS - all the states that border the Chesapeake have imposed severe limits on their seasons

Actually, while global warming is happening it has nothing to do with this rebound. It all came about after NY pushed the reduction boats offshore.
