DIY 2015 Subaru Forester A/C Clutch Repair Fast and Easy
Переглядів 25 тис.3 роки тому
Simple fix for common intermittent A/C issue on Subaru Forester. My car is a 2015, however this applies to several years and models. The center bolt is removed with a 10mm socket. The correct clearance is between .3 and .6 mm. Anything over .6 can cause slippage and the compressor with stop. Under .3 can lead to clutch failure. I recommend watching this video for a more in depth procedure. ua-c...

    Fixed my daughter's 2015 Forester thanks to this video. It would be fine for a while, then the clutch would disengage and not engage again until after engine shut down. My guess is that the clutch gap expanded with temperature, then was OK after cooling off. Removing the skinniest shim seems to have fixed it. You can borrow a clutch holder tool for free at Auto Zone.

    Amazed that this fixed my issue. Great post. I ended up using needle nose pliers to get the washer out after struggling to try to fish it out. Highly recommend that method if you have a pair

    Thank you so much for posting this video! I have driven around a 2015 Subaru for 2 years with AC that didn’t work when the outside temperature is over 75 degrees, and I’ve taken the car to several mechanics who didn’t know how to fix it. Your video helped me to finally fix the problem, thank you very much for sharing!

    It's an electromagnetic clutch, you definitely don't want to put lube on those.

    Somebody please take away all this persons tools. No Riving knife, No gloves, No blade guard and you worried about Dust collection ? Get your priorities straight before they call you STUBBY. Did you ever hear of a Brake to bend sheet metal? There is also the angle iron method. the tool you are using is called a Hand Seamer and you are not using it correctly.. No gloves and razor sharp sheet metal. BRILLIANT! You excel ad working very hard to create an inefficient collector design when efficient collector designs already exist.

    Thanks for the tip man. How can you tell if the whole compressor has gone bad or just the clutch?

    • @SB-gt1pv
      @SB-gt1pv 2 роки тому

      Hey sorry for the late reply, did you figure it out? I don’t do a lot of A/C work but this fix was so easy I had to share it. There are several parts involved In the whole system. If the gap is within spec it’s gonna get more complex, I don’t think you can even buy a clutch without replacing the whole compressor unfortunately. Then there’s refrigerant leaks and the whole 9… best of luck
