Did you drill the coat hooks into the aluminum wall studs?
No, we didn’t. They’re just screwed into the wood of the wall. We only use them for lightweight items and haven’t had any problems.
very helpful video of how to break down the campsite.
What size pads are these on the website?
@@seansolina895 5.5” mini - feel free to use code: AUSTIN38275 for 10% off.
Never knew about this. Holy smokes. I've had my Hike for a year and learned something new.
We live 15 miles from the RV show. Only been there once years ago.
Thats funny i know someone that got that same model and it was completely garbage i hope people are not out here doing fake reviews
@@dominickp6982 We are brand ambassadors for Winnebago along with several other companies. However, our reviews are completely straight forward and honest. Our partnerships are to provide honest feedback and reviews of their products. We had it for just over 2 years and zero issues.
Great video! Thanks, guys!
@@twuschcanada The Twusch porcelain insert will be such a great improvement over the plastic!!
Thanks for the great video! Did you just get the MB version of the Hike? Do you have a “tour” video planned. I would love to hear what you think are the pros/cons between it and the SB version.
@@jlavond We just picked up the MB this past Monday. We do have videos planned for both topics you mentioned 👍
The only issue with these "American-off-road" trailers is that they simply can not sustain miles and miles of washboard roads... The cabinets and plumbing get destroyed. I went with an Aussie off road trailer that has true suspension travel and damping.
Thanks for sharing your tow rig info/details. Lots of great ideas. It doesn't look like you run any aftermarket hitch, sway control, etc., on your Hike 100. Looking for advice/guidance on this from your experience. I too have a Ram 4x4 Crew that will be towing. 1) towing set-up/gear, 2) airbags you are using. I'm going with only a 2" lift. Thanks!
@@system87music The Ram has a 3 inch Mopar lift with Bilstein shocks. I’m running the stock front sway bar in the front and a Hellwig sway bar in the rear along with Timber Grove airbags. As for towing, the rear airbags are the only addition we made and they are a game changer!
@@adv4two thx! So no sway control hitch or electronics needed?
@@system87music I don’t have anything for sway. I do use a RedArc brake controller because my truck didn’t come with a factory controller.
@@adv4two Awesome, thx! Appreciate the info. Checkibg out your other videos! 👍👍
Can you provide information about your shower/bathroom floor?
@@4everdenn I made it out of 1”x2” boards. Took measurements and cut into strips. Made sure when I laid out the bottom boards that it missed the drain so it wouldn’t break it by putting pressure on it while standing on it. Placed a bit of wood glue and the brad nailed from the underside and then put a few coats of polyurethane. We remove it while showering and put it back once we dry the shower floor.
Nice job!!
Did you cut your track to -66 or 68 inches? I’m assuming you used some tiny screws to attach to the wall, after pre drilling holes on the plastic track? How far apart did you space them? Do you know what size screws you used? Any other tips?
@@libbymackey9040 Here’s some additional info. - Strip length = 69” - Screws are either a #6 or #8 pan head style screw (I went with a black screw to be less noticeable) - I used tape on the strip to mark the center - once center was found, I marked 3.5” on each side of center - Pre-drilled holes every 7” after that - Find the center of the rear interior above the doors and make a mark - Place the strip against the top metal trim above the door, making sure center of strip is on the mark on center of the rear of camper - I started installing screws starting on each side of center working my way out
I would like to know where you found that gear organizer on the front of the trailer attached to the rails. Are there different versions of it for attaching different things?
@@GaryTrujillo-mh7el I made it from supplies purchased from our local Lowes hardware store. Attached with “X- clamps” made by Rugged Ridge and rubber clamps for attachments.
Thanks. Had my Hike for over a year and never set up that awning. I'm thinking if I just set up the back part, it could keep my generator from getting rained on.
@@GaryTrujillo-mh7el We definitely use the back part more often by itself 👍
Do you think a mid-size truck or SUV would need a weight distribution system to tow this?
@@Mrjchuff I’ve heard from most folks that tow with a mid-sized and yes, they use a WDH.
Raise your hand if you have set up this erector set more than 1 time. Too many parts for awning.
We agree, could & should be a more simple design. However, we do use the back section more frequently to help shade the rear door area.
I agree. Plus, needing to take it down if it gets windy. I've had my Hike for over a year and the awning hasn't come out of it's box. I do think I might set up the rear portion to protect my generator from rain though.
Could you put a small motorcycle in it. Thank you
It’s not vented for a “gas” vehicle. But yes, a bike would fit as long as the total height was less than 5’ 6”. That’s the measurement from the floor to the bottom of the stowed bed.
The fish eye lense is a bit much.
It was filmed with a GoPro, we’ll probably do a new video filmed by iPhone in the future.
Very helpful, thanks!
Can you lower the upper bed with the toy hauler doors open and screen closed?
Yes, you can lower the bed while the doors are open with the screens closed. But just for awareness… to lower the upper bed, the seats have to be folded in the sit down position.
Thank you, the salesman doesn't dnt show us anything, just said "go watch videos." So many thanks for this video!
Beautiful!
Where are the batteries stored
On the FLX model, the battery is inside of the Hike. Depending on which floor plan, depends on the exact location. Typically they’re “hidden” within the cabinetry. On the non-FLX models, the battery is on the tongue.
We have that house box too! Do you have a list of the items you talk about? We have many of them (yay us!) but there were a couple things I thought I'd look at :)
- Camco TastePure RV water filter - Camco EvoFlex 25’ RV drinking hose - Camco Sidewinder RV Sewer Hose Support - Valterra RV Adjustable EZ Hose Carrier - Ox Blox Trailer Jack Block - RV SNAP PAD (we will be adding them on the stabilizer feet in the future) - The Americanizer - RV Sewage Adapter for Cassette Toilets (coming in a future video)
Great video! What is the model number of the Torklift set you installed on your Hike?
Thanks for the kind words. Part Number: A10033
Thanks for this video.
On a different note I’ve been looking at the hike 100 1316SB. How do you like your Hike 100?
We love it. It checked all the boxes for us when upgrading from a teardrop style camper. Indoor & outdoor cooking areas ✅ Indoor bathroom ✅ Air conditioning ✅ Able to stand up ✅ sleeping area and roomy storage area ✅
And if you did this on purpose to get people to comment….. I left you three comments meow 😻 💥
Tips and Tricks…. You are touching your sewer hose that has splash back at the ground connection, then touch your ends of your fresh water hose ends with same hands that touched poop 💩 Yes … I know you have a cassette toilet But the last person probably dumped poop 💩 down there. 😂. I’d disinfect that blue fresh water hose. 💥
😁 Prior to making this video, we had just dumped our cassette and wiped the sewer opening and our drain hose down with Clorox wipes and then removed my gloves. That was the trash in back of the truck. Great catch though and I knew I’d get a comment or 4 👍
Got the first like 💥
Did you ever had any problem filling up the fresh water tank? Mine only gets 1/3 and overflows. Took it to the dealer and they said two hoses were kinked and they replaced them. Still same problem.
I’ve found that if I try to fill them quickly (hose on full blast) that it overflows. If I fill it slowly (hose water pressure turned down) it does great without any issues.
@@adv4twothank you for your quick answer. Next time I will try it slower.
What kind of gas mileage do you get on the highway not pulling anything vs pulling the Hike 100? I drive a 2016 Tundra but I expect I would get similar mileage. Do you still like the Hike 100? I am interested in it myself but I am not really happy with any of the travel trailers (design and quality issues and cost). I do want small and some light off-road capability so that is why it is on the list. Thank you
As for gas mileage… The more I add to the exterior of the truck, the lower my mpg drop lol. At the current setup, I average 12mpg without towing. While towing, I average 9mpg and depending on head winds, I’ve gotten as little as 6mpg. But, I typically run 5 over the posted speed limit. I will start by saying, we are brand ambassadors for Winnebago. But regardless, we are totally honest in any review of the Hike we’ve ever done. We still do like the Hike 100 and what it offers. It is a perfect “base camp” type of setup for what we want in a smaller camper (able to stand up, interior bathroom, comfortable sleeping area & air conditioning). Ours is one of the first few made and it has the straight axle and we’ve taken it on the beach, down gravel roads and it’s always done great and without any issues. Shortly after ours was made, they started putting the “off-road” axle on them so they should do even better. However, due to the height and weight, I wouldn’t attempt to take it too much off kilter.
@@adv4two Sounds about right on the gas milage with what looks like a lift and larger tires. You come across as a good man and a straight shooter and I appreciate that. Thank you for the answer and it looks like an honest one. By the way, that's a good looking truck and I like the way you have the topper black. I may buy another topper and do the same with the black bed liner coating.
I thought I’d ordered the parts for the rear screen, but unfortunately, it was only the screen; no track or screw snaps. I’m calling Winnebago to order the track. Do I need another parts number for the snap screws? Or do they come with the track?
Sliding track p/n: 278977 I’m not sure if the snaps are included with that part number or not. I purchased ours from a local Ace Hardware store.
Thanks for another informative video. I’m looking forward to your next adventures!
Thanks for the kind words!
What a 13’6” kayak fit inside this trailer?
No, the interiors longest depth is 9’ 10.5”. The roof rack up top accepts kayak mounts and would hold one that length.
@@adv4two OK thank you. My kayak weighs 96 pounds and I don’t think I can lift it up onto the top of the trailer.
Do you guys need a weight distribution trailer hitch ? I'm looking at getting one and towing with my f150.
We haven’t used one but some folks on our Facebook group does use them.
Can you pull down the upper bed with the right bench seat folded up and bikes inside? Where is the table stored?
Both bench seats have to be folded down to lower the bed. The table is stored under the seat. We found it more convenient for us, to utilize a large TV tray to eat off of.
😂 *Promo sm*
What a pain in the balls...
We feel that a 180 or even a 270 overland style awning would be much easier.
First storm that comes through and poof, it’s gone lol
Pretty much 😂

We like your videos. Is that power outlet 12 volts?
Thank you! It’s a 110 outlet, the power inverter has to be on for it to work.
Does Truma have an app that lets you control the Truma devices remotely?
The only devices controllable that I’m aware of is their fridge/freezers. None of our onboard Truma products have an app. The Truma Aventa A/C has a remote, we mounted it next to the bed.
Did you just use the fasteners that came with the coat hooks to attach them to the wall or did you use something else?
We actually used “Gorilla” brand double sided tape at first. After a few months, we decided to add the screws they came with.
Thanks for info. When we were dry camping in a forest with our prior rv travel trailer we used something about that size and it sunk down in the sand. Our remedy is we always carry a scrap board I am guessing about 3 feet long to put under our block for our jack stand. We use a concrete block. The one you are using looks lighter and would be easier to carry.
That’s also a great idea for when on uncertain ground. We’ve used our recovery boards occasionally for times like that. We use them while beach camping also, especially if there’s a brisk wind blowing the sand around.

I remember before the democrats ruined CA I use to love beech camping. Now all of the places I use to camp have no camping signs. Unless you’re homeless, then they don’t care.
That’s crazy & ridiculous! These areas should be more so for enjoyment of campers and beach goers not the homeless. I was in CA about 1 1/2 years ago and it was crazy how many folks were living on the streets and pretty much anywhere else. Well, if you ever make it to the East coast, we’d be more than happy to have you enjoy our beaches because they are spectacular!!
Hi, I've stumbled upon your videos because we are looking at this exact trailer. We are looking for a tiny toy hauler and they are very hard to find where we live. Besides the absolute non-existent storage, we are also worried about the regular RV type door latch on the cargo doors. Have they ever come undone on you while you're towing? Because it's such a small simple latch, we are afraid that as the trailer flexes that the doors will pop open while it's being towed? Thanks
We’ve never had them come open during travel. We make sure that both doors are pushed closed tightly against the seals and we always travel with the deadbolt locked. To your point however, that may depend on the gear you plan to carry being you mentioned toy hauler. We’ve only used it for our two e-bikes. The weight of the load may affect shift in the camper.
