Dropping a 500 hp ecoboost into a bronco
I’m a new subscriber, I have a 96 F-150 2wd long bed, I definitely interested in your kit.
Do you have a website?
Do you make parts and adapters for 73-79 Ford trucks?
No website. We try to just do UA-cam and word of mouth advertising so we can keep up. All the engine hardware should carry over to other applications. There is more room in a full size so you have more options for intercooler placement and turbo tubing.
Would you be interested in installing an ecoboost in my ‘82 Bronco?
Nice detailed video.
I know you guys sell some products to help us mortals do these swaps.. how do I get in touch with you?
Email us at boostedbroncogarage@gmail.com
Yes, we sell as a kit. Reach out to boostedbroncogarage@gmail.com and we can get you some info or have a phone conversation
Do you sell that as a kit? Did you make that mount yourself? What pump is that?
Love these builds.
Nice work!
Wow i really like this adapter. Do you know by chaining the piece on the dana will make it so you dont have to change the shaft on an AOD? that would make it much easier. Also what trans are you using in the video? Also can you send a link to the adapter kit you are using a were to get it. thanks. FYI i am trying to change my 69 bronco 302 to have a AOD with my Dana 20 but really didnt want to pull entire trans apart to change the shaft. thanks
This is for the 6R80. I am not sure what the AOD takes. I normally get my adapters from Summit Racing because they ship for free.
@@boostedbroncos9531 Ok thanks a ton for the video and additional information.
Thanks
Thanks for making this video…it helped to determine what parts are missing after getting my transmission back from the shop. Also the information on the shifter is solid too.
I'm quite impressed as a ford technician myself. I chucked a 7.3 powerstoke in my 69 bronco as im a diesel mechanic and i really like that motor, but i can totally see myself throwing in an ecoboost one day if i dont enjoy the diesel. very neat. You guys do impressive work. Nice to see some real ingenuity in an old bronco.
I wouldn’t change anything on that beautiful bronco I’d leave it alone except for doing a lift kit on it and the tire’s, come on it’s a 77’ bronco!!
I would love to see you guys do a test drive video, looks great!
Customer just picked that one up today. I have one of my GEN1 demo vehicles I can video soon.
How do I get a parts availability and price list from you guys? I have a 68 that I want to do this swap on
So this should also work in a f150
Yes. Most parts will work.
@@boostedbroncos9531 thanks I have a 1990 f150 and have thought about maybe doing a EcoBoost swap
Have you ever done a 92-96?
Not yet. I don’t see any issues though.
What do you guys charge for labor? I've got a clean 1967 f100 short bed that I'd like to get an Ecoboost with 10speed dropped in
We charge $100/hr
Do you guys have a website that you sell parts from or what? I'm planning on doing this 3.5 swap on a 68 but need more info on parts availability
Reach out via email and we’ll provide you with a quote and details. Boostedbroncogarage@gmail.com
Was this Bronco stolen?
I sure hope not for the customer’s sake.
Hey I was just thinking about putting a 3.5 ecoboost with the 10 speed automatic in my 67 Mercury Monterey, what kind of motor mounts did you use?
We build our own mounts specific to the early bronco. We can provide block plates for those wanting to fabricate for other applications
Anybody thinking about swapping the 2.7 lt ecoboost?
The 2.7 is another good engine but does not have an aluminum oil pan so it is more challenging to modify for a solid axle application. We looked at it and chose to focus our resources on the 3.5.
if i was to swap a 3.5 into a 77 f150 would i need this ?
You will need some of the parts like the pwr steering pump assembly. You may be able to reuse the stock ecoboost air and turbo tubes and intercooler. We've had a couple customers undertake this swap and we've supported with necessary parts. The mounts will be different than SBF like the 1st Gen Bronco. We can provide block plates to enable fabricating mounts. All swaps need a wire harness and pcm reflash.
Why’d you skip putting on the fitting?
Didn't have my tripod set up so was just filming with my hands. I may redo this one to show the action shots.
I like how your tubing looks! It was a bit tight with the stock tubing on my 95. Just got my engine fired with your power steering pump (keeping AC) and so far so good. Gonna have to finish bleeding once I get fuel system sealed
Thanks. Things are a bit tighter on the 66-77 with the turbo tubing, but glad we were able to get a nice package together. Good luck on your build.
Donde consiguieron la parte trasera de la trasmision donde está la flecha tengo una trasmision idéntica y me interesa hacer lo mismo
Ya que me interesa eliminar el 4x4
No ablo espanio. Could you translate comments into English if you are able?
I have an identical transmission and the 3.5 too but I'm interested in eliminating the Transfer. Do you know if that transmission serves me as rear-wheel drive?
There are 2wd versions of the transmission that you would need to use that eliminate the transfer case.
@@boostedbroncos9531 la transmisión 4x4 sin trasnfer no me serviría como 2wd ?
How can I get info on this kit ? I’m ready to start my project
Email us at boostedbroncogarage@gmail.com
I got an 88 bronco and I've been thinking about an ecoboost swap for it is it cheaper than doing a coyote?
It is probably about the same price for the install kit. The ecoboost may be easier and cheaper to find a donor engine and trans though.
What did you do for wiring I don’t believe Ford makes the control pack anymore
We do our own wiring harness for both GEN1 and GEN2 engines
@@boostedbroncos9531 would that include the wiring to control the 6r80/10r80 trans
It does include the trans wiring that plugs into the 10R80 trans harness for the GEN2. The GEN1 has the 6R80 trans wiring integrated in the engine harness.
Do you guys have a website to order parts for the swap, how do I contact you for parts??
Looks awesome, can't wait to get the rest of the parts to finish mine.
Can't wait to finish my swap now!
Thumbs up! Looking forward to hearing more details
What are you doing for wiring does Ford still sell a control pack for the v6
Can I swap this set up from a early Ford Explorer or F150 to my early bronco? I want a functional automatic and remove 4wd... I want to be able to get 18miles to gallon and have convertible early bronco that is actually enjoyable and practical to drive . If you an an email address could I email you for more details? Thank you for your help and thank you for your video
Boostedbroncogarage@gmail.com
I couldn’t find anything online about a eco boost swap I know with the coyote the whee wells have to be cut and the steering must be moved is it the same for an eco boost swap?
You need to remove 1" from the passenger inner fender for turbo clearance similar to the coyote swap. The Gen 1 engine doesn't require steering shaft mods. The Gen 2 with electric wastegate actuators require using a modified steering shaft.
Looking real good! Thanks for taking the time to show us all these tips and tricks!
Would this tank fit the fullsize bronco and how much are they
I’m not sure about fitment for other applications. We might be able to do something custom for you. Shoot us an email at boostedbroncogarage@gmail.com. We also sell the adapter ring separately.
So is the 2” lift required because of the fuel tank set up or is there a need for it on the engine/trans side as well?
2" body lift is for hood clearance for the engine. I can only set it so low in the mounts and give the turbos enough clearance to the frame. The 2" minimum suspension lift provides enough suspension travel while clearing the oil pan. At some point we may eliminate the need for the suspension lift with more oil pan mods, but for now we need the lift and adjusting the front axle bump stops down 1-1/2-2".
That looks super sweet, just watching these videos is making me want one so bad!
Very interesting! Is this engine version a direct injection? I was under the impression that the newer engines used direct injection and have a booster pump on the engine for the really high pressure injection? Just curious.
The 17 and newer have both port and direct fuel injection. The high pressure fuel pump for direct injection is on the engine. The 16MY and older 3.5L ecoboost is direct injection only. The PFI (port fuel injection) helps keep the back of the intake valves clean.
@@boostedbroncos9531 very cool! I had wondered if they'd fixed the problem with oil cake on the intake valve
How is the pipe clarence when the suspension is at full droop?
It has good clearance. There’s no weight on the bare frame as pictured and the shocks prevent any further drop as well in a twist situation.
Sweet exhaust! They didn't get that bender at Harbor Freight! 🤣😏😎
Man I'm even more ready to hear her fire up now than before! Can't wait for the fuel system stuff next!
How much are these engines?
We have a source that we can get new take-out engine and transmission from the ford raptor for $7,000 shipped. This business outfits raptors with supercharged v8 engines, so they don’t need these.
@@calebrogers9977 wow! Only thing that sucks for me is all I need is a rear wheel drive transmission
@@calebrogers9977 i need 2 enginess
you can email us at boostedbroncogarage@gmail.com, we will help you out.
@@calebrogers9977 I tried emailing you at your email you put up but got rejected
Looking super sweet! I can't wait for a first start!
This is sweet!! Proud of all your hard work on this dad and Matt!!
So excited to see the end result on such a perfect Bronco!
I wanna drop one of these in my 70 mach 1
Sorry for the late response. Are you thinking automatic or manual trans? We are only able to support calibrations for the auto trans.
Auto! I'm getting to old for stick shift. Lol
Do you eliminate some sensors and others not needed for older vehicles?
We turn off the 2nd O2 sensors, evap, purge, stop/start, abs interactions, cold start spark retard for catalyst heating, PATS and a couple other things I am not remembering right now. This enables running without the body control module and all the other modules except the pcm and tcm.
That's awesome! I'll be in touch as soon as my dad's probate is over
