    All the videos on my UA-cam playlist labeled Words of Wisdom, (including this one), have 3 benefits: 1. They provoke very good-natured thought. 2. They enable me to see myself much more clearly than I otherwise might. 3. They allow me to realize the mistakes I've made which are the most important never repeat.

    How come only English-speaking people seem to have something meaningful to say? So partial. So narrow-viewed.

    • @wordwise7903
      @wordwise7903 Рік тому

      You're right, it was wrong of me to say that in the description, I have deleted it. I should have explained better what I meant by it, which is that often, in any language, there are nuances that can only fully be felt by the native speakers of that language. Not always, sometimes a thought can be understood across all languages. But whatever your native tongue, you not only speak that language, you "feel" it, while people for whom it is a second language cannot "feel" it, the way that you do, they only know the words. I was born into English and Thai simultaneously, and thus can "feel" those languages. And though I studied Spanish and German in school, as secondary languages, I can only understand the words, but there are many colloquialisms in those languages which I cannot "feel" with the same depth that a native Spanish or German speaker can feel. Thus, I can sit at dinner with a group of Germans and understand the words, but not the true depth of a joke or colloquialism because my heart doesn't comprehend it as their hearts do. So a better explanation of my original point is that English is very deep to me, while other languages are very deep to the native speakers of those languages.

      Thank you Kash!!! Your comment made my night. Such kinds words you shared. Have you spent much time in California? Do you know it well? Because each part of California is very different from other parts. We have filthy, high-crime areas, but also very clean safe beautiful small towns along the coast, plus the Sierra mountains for forests and skiing, plus big city life in SF or LA can be fun too. California isn't really "one place." Curious which part or parts of it you like.
