1985 C4 Corvette Cowl Leaks - Water Leaking into Cab Weep Holes & Heater Core Seal Body Sealant
This is about unclogging the cowl drain holes and fixing older sealant cracks.
Cowl Leaks, Cowl Drain Holes and Cowl Body Sealant
This is a Metallic Gray on Gray interior Corvette that I am working to get to Daily Driver Status. I got the Corvette and it was drive-able but made some noises from the AIR Pump and other places on the car. Also the interior needed just about a complete redo, the carpets were totally worn away in the rear hatch area and covered with oil and grim in the Driver / Passenger area.

ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS - 1985 C4 Corvette - Won't Start
Переглядів 10 тис.3 роки тому
1985 C4 Corvette: Started my weekend with the Corvette not starting. I had no power, no lights, no gauges, no info panel, no dings and no bells or any sound what so ever. So I ran some tests on the battery and the Corvette to see if I can find a broken ground that may have been causing this issue. What it ended up being was the negative battery cable not making a good connection to the battery....

1985 C4 Corvette Combined Videos for Assembly of 5.7L w/ Blown Head Gasket Rebuild on a Budget

This one is a combined video of all the assembly videos and raw footage. This video is long and has parts that you will need to listen to. I have place text markers to let you know to listen to the video when needed. This was a compromise for all the info that just wouldn't fit on the screen and the video segment length at that moment/video point. So, look for "Listen to Video" markers and you ...

Introduction: 1985 C4 Corvette 5.7L SBC Daily Driver Restoration: Interior & Top of Engine Rebuild
Переглядів 1,2 тис.3 роки тому
Wow! What a year this was with the restoration of this 1985 C4 Corvette. From Engine to interior I go over every part of the restoration of this corvette to make it an acceptable Daily Driver. The Ups and Downs of this project was a trial of patience. From Engine work to the interior this was a labor of love for a toy... Yes, this is a Big Boy Toy! or a Big Girl Toy depending on which of my kid...
1985 C4 Corvette AIR Pump Replacement - 5.7L SBC - Replacing AIR Pump

Video 1 in the 1985 C4 Corvette Series. Introduction to a 1985 C4 Corvette for restoration to daily driver status. I wanted to have a summer project so I choose this 1985 C4 Corvette. At the time this car was released in 1985 it was beating most cars that were 4 times as expensive. These C4's are very plentiful right now at really low prices. So getting one and fixing it up is relatively cheap....
To my understanding and I could be wrong everything that isn't directly bolted to the engine block is gonna be metric. So suspension and anything attached to the intake manifold are the best examples I can think of. My friend told me the car was designed by euro car engineers, whether or not that is true. One thing I noticed that many of the sizes of the metric fasteners are the type that can work with sae sizes, example 9/16 and 14mm, I see lots of those. I almost wanna think the euro car engineers took into account American mechanics use inch sizes
Success
I had to redo all of the ground wires once I bought my '93. The computer fried and all of the ground contacts were corroded. It's a geat runner now!!
I’m glad to see this
My 86 c4 did the same thing, it was the negative connection at the battery
Tore up and drank 1 🍺
I currently have this corvette. looking to sell it. It has a ton of problems that I cannot fix myself.

Killer video, reviewing some as im looking into C4’s. You nailed most of what I’ve heard and then some. I’ve also heard that the steering column can become clunky from abuse of ingress/egress but still learned tons from your video. Thank you!
So, did you find the water leak? I have the same problem and it's driving me nuts!
weep holes and heater core seals never crossed my mind... until now. thanks bud!
Isn’t that the tensioner pulley? The idler pulley is mounted to the far left (driver side)
I was losing power and when mind was doing the same thang I mean it wouldn't even let press the gas down
Check all the linkages and make sure they are secure, that’s messed me up big time
Thanks you so much!!!!
SHOULD BE NEXT TO THE BATTERY.???????
THE GROUND BLOCK.?????
Nice video. I always like to see some C4 content on YT. Like my uncle told me when I bought his 1990: Even though its in good shape...Its a 30 year old car and its gonna have 30 year old car problems.
I wish more YT videos were this "to the point" and knowledgeable. I assume from the background sounds you shot this in a war zone, so I hope you are all right.
After seeing this video I have 2nd thoughts about buying an older corvette. You mentioned stuff I wouldn't even think of. Great video. Knowing this stuff maybe I can get a good deal on a C4.
I really didn't see anything you did.
Gotta give you props Man. Never saw anyone bulldog a leak down so well . Haven't seen this addressed before . Good job Sir.
Thanks for your C4 content. I have a 96 model. Fuel pump very easy to change . But that's about all that's easy on them.
You should do a video on a coolant flush for this C4!
that is a plan for a video coming up!
My 87 starts right up cold but when at op temp it gets harder to start with tiny bit of smoke. Any ideas to why?
Any codes on the info panel that you can get? you can get the service engine to flash different codes combinations. but most likely it is the IAC (idle air control solenoid) needs to be replaced, but getting the codes would help to narrow down the issue as well. Also is the smoke blue or purple or white? have you replaced the spark plugs or looked at them at all to see if they are burning hot, cold or covered in oil residue? have you tested to see if you are losing fuel pressure on the fuel rails? you can check this at the schrader valve on the fuel rail. Without the codes there is just too many items to check. here is "Corvette Ben" showing how to get the codes: ua-cam.com/video/6TrNQEV18_g/v-deo.html
@@dailydrivergarage1721 I replaced the IACV and the mass air flow sensor and the TPS. It helped with idling but not perfect. The spark plugs and wires look original with 51k miles. thank you.
@@racer3212 Replace them and check the timing to the specs of the engine. it is on the drivers side of the radiator. after that I would ask the people at Corvette Forums and see if they have any other ideas.
@@dailydrivergarage1721 thank you 🙏
I’ve had my ‘89 for almost 5 years now. Fortunately I found a good one. Great info.
Thank you! Sounds like you did get a good one!
@4:51 that is NOT the repaired engine but right before I tore it down and rebuilt the top of the engine. You need to watch the video that shows the engine running after re-assembly to see it running again.
