I loved this game, first played in early 2020, it got me out of bed in the morning. I tried to tell anyone I could how fun it was. Seeing where this game has gone truly breaks my heart, it’s been so long now that I’ve entirely abandoned the game and can confidently say, I’m not coming back.

How do you get into rec centre?

For the whole of the last year of weeklies, I didn't have 7 of them. 7/52 I didn't have. This is why I didn't do them myself. I ended up asking people if they had the skin or not. If they didn't and wanted them we would work on them.

I remember logging onto Rec Room, seeing what rooms were hot, checking the updates, and best of all, checking the skin you got for the challenge. Come back in a few years to find all the hot rooms be garbage, every update removing more than the last, and worst of all, they removed my precious challenge. Rec Room has become what it never should have. A greedy business obsessed with money over their player base.

I never thought a video can hit hard like this since MatPat's retirement, I haven't been playing as long maybe 3ish years Max but I agree with everything, every word hit it made me remember and I genuinely almost cried at the end

Scary thing is, a ton of the criticisms made in this video could also be applied to Roblox. From the UGC being awful, to them straying from the needs of their community and instead riding off the backs of their investors, to even your point as to how Rec Room is a game that left a huge impact on you, just like how Roblox has left a huge impact on me. Seriously, Roblox is my most played game of all time, right next to Garry's Mod, which in it of itself I had discovered from playing games like Half-Life 2, and Portal. And same goes with Rec Room. I cannot deny how much fun I had playing it for the first time, now it's completely stripped of it's identity, a rotten, soulless husk of it's former self.

Heya, Im AtlasInHell but formerly WonderBoy/WonderSauce/Wonder. This game was my heart and soul when i joined the game. I poured my heart out into every aspect i possibly could. Building, friends, trading inventions, golden trophy speedrunning, sword fighting tournaments, rock climbing. I joined a few months before you did, and I quit early at the start of this year. I pop on every now and than but the game hasnt gotten better. I personally just wanted to add on (im not far into the video so this might be mentioned later) i think recroom studio is horrible. I think the whole concept of the makerpen being accessible to everyone was amazing and what truely made the charm for building. Your imagination was truely the limit and everything was possible with the right practice. Recroom studio makes practicing the makerpen useless. Recroom studio makes years of dedication worthless. Recroom studio is unfair.

things i want in rec room 1. og watch menu back 2. more simplistic game 3. reduce amount of updates because of lag for standalone players

2020 and 2021 were when I played and loved rec room the most. I’d say late 2022 was when I started to see the bad changes in rec room and started to not like it at times. It only got worse in 2023 and this year

Whats definitely wrong with Rec Room is that the maps that are made- the low quality and cash grabs are the most popular whilst the most effort spent maps are in the ground 😢

I quit Rec a while back due to a toxic friend group having it's final meltdown, and coming back to see FULL BODIES, the new GOD AWFUL UI, and only meeting ANNOYING BRAIN-ROTTED CHILDREN (That should be using Junior accounts !)the entire time, i'm not sad i left.

That ending scene hit me hard, made me realize all the memories that I’ve made during the year long period i played it with friends who i no longer talk to due to outside occurrences. It’s very well animated, and i like how that last little paragraph made me think back on the memories that have (apparently) been spoiled. Of course, I’m basing this off of other comments, but that friend group I played rec room with has already been dissolved, so i can’t get that stuff back

rec room used to be the only game i played but now i cant even log on without my game crashing or just getting bored and logging off myself and with the inflation of tokens i cant even buy anything despite having rec room plus.

as someone who’s played since 2019 as well, i absolutely agree this game will always have a special place in my heart but nothing will ever compare to 2019-2020 rec room man

Honestly if rec room doesn't do changes at all I can say in 4 more years it will really start to struggle

the exit sequence is the only thing thats made me cry in a very long time, ive laughed, loved and lived in rec room, it helped me figure out who i am. i often think of those lucky times fondly and thank you alot for reminding me, even in a video like this that there is still joy out there. i feel, partially reasonable for some of the slop thats on rec room now, while it still wouldve happened there where some decisions me and others made that couldve distracted some of those big players in on that side of RR. (milsim drama)

Seeing all my old friends in the footage made my heart get CRUSHED I was friends with a lot of prominent creators in Rec Room. Some of which included Azrael, BDSSwagMuffin, FoxGaming and more I actually met BDSswagmuffin ( the person at 52:23 ) in his very first time in the game and took him around some of the originals, we then hanged out in some of his private rooms he was creating and messed around by taking photos of him while afk and just generally having a good time. I was appalled when I came back to Rec Room to see what it had become, the collabs, the full body's, the UGC, the prices and the overall loss of it's creative vision. I met so many wonderful people in that game and it's such a shame to see all of that get ripped away. -Lord of Cinder

I loved this game for a long time. I built rooms, and communities with awesome people. The original vision was godlike. Truly once in a lifetime experience. Sadly, they just don't care about their game theyre just like every garbage shill company that comes out of seattle. All they care about is money. They've betrayed our trust too many times. They never listen to their community. They just don't care. It was fun while it lasted, I'll always remember this game fondly, but I'll always hate what it became.

The points in this video are so true I can tell you are passionate for the game judging off of the effort put into this video, I was planning on making a video for my main channel somewhat similar about the state of recroom in 2024 because I used to play every day but eventually I stopped because of things like taking away the weekly

Ugc can be great when making Maker pen created rooms but people using recroom studio to to import random assets of popular things to make a quick buck of children fills overshadows any good games, if you want to use rec room studio to make cool things yea go for it but at least still use makerpen and dont make things look like its supposed to be there and not assets taken from orher places Also rec room cant use making items takes time as an excuse for raising prices because they do so much rereleasing of the exact same thing with different colors

This is an amazing video, I’ve been playing since April of 2019 and I can’t count how many times me and my friends talk about how RR is going down hill. Reminiscing on the past and how good it used to be. It’s really sad to watch a game I love and use as my escape from reality to go down such a depressing path
