Pulling the 4l80e out of the 1985 Monte Carlo aka Mona Lisa. It wasn't too bad once I removed all of the bolts. Next step get the replacement on back in....

I didn't want to, but I think I'm going to have to run wheel spacers on the Monte carlo. I have 20x8 #americanracingwheels with 4.99 inch backspace. on a gbody you want to stay around 4.5 inch backspace. Your getting in done regardless of the challenges, I finally installed a Max Jax lift in my garage/shop, and it's a game changer for sure... your building is coming along nicely.
I have thought about one of those max Jax lifts. It would be nice. Maybe one after a 4 post.

@@TheSouthdownband I think I might be good for now on not having to roll them, but I will definitely keep that in mind.
I see people daily in the g-body groups talking about how 5-5.5"s of backspacing will fit no problem,i have been driving these g's since the late 80s and have never been able to put anything over 4.5"s without spacers, but those guys will argue with you until they are blue in the face that 5.5 will work no problems. glad to see others coming out and saying no it will not work! lol
@TheSouthdownband yea 5.5 is ridiculous. Maybe in the rear but it would still be too close for comfort. No way they are running that upfront.
@@Dashsgarage with my 17x9s and a 245/45r17 i only have about 3/8-1/2" between my tire and frame in the rear and i am running a 4.5" bs

Im in the process of patching a hole on my 84 SS on the passenger side. My floor looks different, Im guessing the t top has that extra reinforced bar going across, mine doesnt have that
I'm pretty sure a ttop has more reinforcement, but I'm not sure where exactly

If it was me - I admit, for the drivetrain, I like natural finish - so I would do a clear or matte finish. BUT - you said the unpainted one is temporary. Thennnn - don't paint it. Besides, if you paint it, install & remove it later, thennnn - why paint it? What if you want to put that transmission into something else permanently (or sell the transmission!), and painting it now was a bad idea? I admire you don't mind working on the floor! At 68, I wouldn't put in a temp transmission - the car would sit. Great channel! I just looked at 3 vids. Yes I subbed. ☝️👍✌️💪💪💪
I appreciate the subscription and the feedback. The temporary one I'm just borrowing one will have to go back to my buddy who let me borrow it. I have some things planned with the car and wouldn't have the one built in time so that's why the temporary one will go in. I guess I'll just have to get use to swapping transmissions into this thing.

Bro don't scare me lol I'm about to crank my monster up for the first time I rebuilt my transmission and had binding in my input shaft then I took it to MCO and there was a guy who had been there 25 years and he did a bench tear down for $700 so I'm praying everything works correctly

On my cutlass when I got it wondered why the power antenna wasn’t working I heard the motor I pulled wheel liner back someone zipped tied it in place lol 😂 I just put one like yours in
