Music of upcoming album (2023)
The return to the road after two years of a stopped world begins with the second phase of OXY PATINA, the project released in record (2018) with Benoit Delbecq and Marc Ducret (and brought to stage by the same Delbecq and Bruno Chevillon) that confirmed Mário Costa as a name of reference in European jazz.
If before the Portuguese musician used to write thinking about the individuality of each member of his band, this purpose is no longer only a strategy to become an entire program of action. And if the use of electronics was already a resource of the first phase of OXY PATINA, now is systematic and adopted by all the musicians: Costa, Delbecq, Chevillon and Vu have plenty of space to manipulate their acoustic sounds, acting/creating in two parallel and simultaneous universes. The instrumental one, played by a drumset, a piano, a double bass and, now, also a trumpet, and the one of the virtualizations and the processing operated with those tools. The music in itself has the most simple and honest source of inspiration: emotions. After all, that’s its biggest particularity since it was invented by human beings - to express feelings. Well, these four aren’t affraid to feel, to the delight of our ears...
