I don’t think anyone’s filmed the cars with the monitor mod before. The last car is an original Haughton and everything else there is modded.

In the 70's & 80's my mom cleaned office buildings nights & into early morning, as my sister & I grew up One of the best things in my childhood was killing slow hours watching this same dover hydraulic elevator operate as I sat at the lunch table in the maintenance room of this 12 floor office tower. A large hydraulic pump would lift the elevator car, but lowering it was done simply by relieving hydraulic pressure & slowly allowing the primary cable pulley to unwind, as gravity pulled the car down Thank you for taking the time to make this video. Ha! Never thought that 40 years later I could have affection for a specific model of *elevator !* Great memories! 😊💜

These are both Hydraulic. And the hotel opened in 1974-75

As of January 2025, the front elevator is getting modernized, I saw the new MAD buttons on it. I'm not sure if the other two will be modernized, but it might happen.

Is 42 still unlocked

Some other elevator enthusiast found a way to turn off the key card reader just to get to the top, but I don’t think you should do that because you can get caught by security. On the other hand, if you do stay in the hotel and the sun dial is open, you can try going up to the sun dial on the high rise elevators and maybe you can ask security for permission to get a tour up at 45, but security might say no because 15-70 is literally the same thing and 45 has nothing but guest rooms!

I hope these elevators here NEVER get smart locked because they cause issues to guests trying to get up the elevator to their room and also preventing elevator enthusiasts from filming the glass elevators up and down. It would be NO FUN plus an epic fail if they got smart locked.

I stayed here back in June 2015 and I got to ride the ORIGINAL Otis Elevonic 401/Series 1 elevators shortly before they got modernized. My room was on 46 on the 42-47 high rise elevator bank with a stunning view into Midtown Atlanta. I LOVE THIS HOTEL SO MUCH!!!!! I had so much fun riding the glass elevators. Both internal elevators (1 for 31-41 and 1 for 42-47) were out of service for modernization and 2 glass elevators (1 for 1-17 and another for 18-30) were already modernized when I stayed here, plus a couple of floors were covered in black for renovations. Shortly after check-in, I got to do a hotel tour of this amazing property. I explored the Atrium Level (saw the pool, not the fitness center), the Lobby Level, and the Marquis Level. I even rode the Pulse Loft elevator which has a roaring motor. I also got to explore EVERY SINGLE guest elevator bank at the hotel just after I had dinner at Hard Rock just across the street from the Westin Peachtree Plaza (I did not go inside). The next morning after a day take of exploring riding every single guest elevator bank, I went to the Hyatt Regency to ride the glass elevator to the 22nd floor (No I did not go to LL3 or to the other towers as I only went back down to the lobby) and after that I went over to the Hilton (I did not get a video, but I wish I did). I only rode the internal glass elevator and not the outside or enclosed elevators because I was on a time crush). Overall, I had an AWESOME stay at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis. I gave this hotel FIVE stars.

They should fix the keycard readers on the elevators because SMART keycard readers can cause issues to guests trying to get up the elevator to their room + locking guests away from their room and also for elevator enthusiasts enjoying riding the elevator up and down. This is why we prefer REGULAR keycards so that will unlock EVERY floor with a single room key and hopefully that will resolve the issue. The reason for that is to allow time for guests to quickly press their floor once the key is scanned and also to let elevator enthusiasts enjoy filming the elevator rides up and down. Better make sure the Marriott Marquis fixes the keycard readers ASAP.

These elevators are keycarded off. These were originally Autotronics with Touch Sensitive buttons before being modernized in the early 1990s.
