Edge TV sounds like a bit of a cross between GBNews and what Sky History has become. I reckon if it had launched 10 or 15 years later it would have stood more of a chance, especially with the online aspect, but I'm glad it's gone

The new version was bloody awful that was not the proper big breakfast they no opening long full big breakfast theme tune and intro yeah it was two loud and just wanted to mute the tv the presenters where so annoying and two political correct with the whole all black hosts i know why they did it the first time because black history month by but why did they carry on with that when they did full the series it should've been white and black presenters.

Only a minute in and had to drop a comment on the programme Zzzap. I was only 10 when it first came out, but it felt like one big acid trip!! Other shows i loved were Harry's Mad, Knightmare, Dreamstone, Count Duckula, Funhouse, Art Attack, talespin, sooty and how 2. We were certainly blessed with these shows!

I'm fairly certain the voice at 17:13 is that of the hologram who reads the news on groovy funky Channel 27!

Wow I remember this in the early days of TCC or The Childrens Channel as it was called back then but only ever been able to find the French version.

The Big Breakfast was a fairly volatile format channel 4 seemed to grapple with on/off during it's 9 year run. After Chris left it floundered, they tried a number of rejiggs but could never really recapture the magic by design alone.. The initial relaunch removed all of the quirky distinguishing contrasting elements which made it attractive to audiences over rivals.. The Johnny Vaughn and Denise Van Outen pairing which put the bb back on track was a complete fluke though. Denise was hired as the roving weather girl originally during the Rick and Sharon era. Sharon left, Denise was co-opted in to present with one of the Richards. One of the aforementioned went on holiday. Johnny Vaughn was brought in as a temporary standin they only intended to use for a week.. It was a complete accident they struck upon the pairing which ultimately reinvigorated the show. Then Denise and Johnny dynamic soured a year or so into the pairing after Johnny went behind Denise's back during contract renegotiations (Vaughn was daft tbh. The show was countenanced on the back of their chemistry. ) Channel 4 probably attempted to devise a format that could withstand the rigors of onscreen personality changes. RI:SE was a bit too clinical and sterile. Never really attracted the interest or investment of audiences..

ITV's declining quality is visible even as a non-brit fan. Alongside with BBC, Channel 4 has definitely become the hub for great dramas and comedy in the UK. C4 has been like that for a while (Allowing Wallace and Gromit series to begin there),but still unlike ITV, they believe in young talent like Lisa McGee (Derry Girls) and Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Crashing)! ITV should reintroduce their local production hubs with its identity as an 2 year experiment or something and see how it takes them!!!

Just finished watching all of the Television Affair episodes to date - this is a really fun series! The irreverence of the presentation and narration in tandem with the deep dives into the more obscure areas of TV history is UA-cam gold. For oddballs like me, anyway. Thanks for the entertainment!

Bring this show back, we need this to brighten up our mornings again, so depressing nowadays, no fun
