I am not really a Vinyl Collector...i am more like a Hunter...but when it comes to Steve Allen, I am bout to get a Collector. I love his stuff and he seems to where a real special and sympathetic Person. I wanna get all his Records, someday. 😏 Dig this
Steve Allen invented the talk show. Before him, nobody thought of having a TV show where they interview celebrities and feature entertainment. It sounds unbelievable, especially in a world where anyone can start their own talk show.
All true. His passion was jazz. I got to meet him at a jazz festival in Tampa in the late 80’s. He wrote hundreds of songs. But, as far as I know, the “only” famous one was “This Could Be the Start of Something Good.” Great song. I say “only” because I wish I had written “only” that song. It’s now an American standard. But, to me, the guy was absolutely hilarious.
Jehovah God promises that those who have died will live again in Isaiah 26:19: "Your dead will live. My corpses will rise. Wake up and shout for joy, residents of the dust! For your dew is like the morning dew, and the earth will let those who are powerless in death live again." He will bring them back to life; that is the hope of the resurrection.
Yeah well they were both working for Intelligence all along. Zappa was a generational military spook, married to a Jewish heiress and raised on military bases by his chemical weapons specialist father and permanently headquartered in the old Tom Mix compound next to the then Lookout Mountain CIA facility at the corner of Lookout Mountain and Laurel Canyon. The Zappas were linked to CIA asset Otto Juan Reich.
Actually Frank was a walk on. Back in the early days of TV, host would frequently have walk on guests that could do unusual things for entertainment. I think the last person to do this was Johnny Carson who once a month would invite a letter writer they found interesting to interview on the tonight show.
@@keithpennington8259 Impossible....wait, that's the name of one of them. I did have to look up This Could Be The Start Of Something Big. When asked how Steve Allen could accomplish so much in his life, I recall one unkindly wag answering, 'by sacrificing one thing, quality.' He did bring a lot of joy to the world, and that's no mean thing.
@@keithpennington8259 He wrote lyrics to "The Gravy Waltz", a pretty well known jazz tune composed by bassist extraordinaire Ray Brown. The song is really more popular as an instrumental though.
That was a great interview if I'm thinking of the same one you might be referencing. Really eye opening on how folks survived then and how they were treated.
Perceptive comment. And like many who grew up `dirt poor` he has a kind of contempt for those who have it. Even when he made it and had it too. He married a missionary`s daughter (Jayne Meadows) but we never hear anything about the first wife and the 3 kids. He and Meadows had one child. He married a missionary`s daughter to lord it over others. Meadows herself tells the story of planes being kept waiting because Allen heard some kid having a tantrum at the airport and wanted to find out what`s wrong?
@@sandrashevey8252 My Husband worked in show business…. Steve Allen the biggest penny pincher. Very cheap. His wife J. Meadows too. Maybe those depression days made an impact on both of them…
Bobby, impressive. What fun!
Nice work Hank, Bobby, and Babies! Please do more. Love the dark church bell sections.
Hank….nice!!!

Software to control software, why didnt you use the physical faders on the vs itself,
Not really the name of Frank's album and the woman's play was named how's your bird. It's more of a coincidence than anything else.
That hair needs a cage .
Suzy's hair !!!!!!!!!!!! I want it BIGGER !!!!!!!!!
The bird is the word.
How many outs do you get onto reaper simultaneously?
I'm assuming this is footage of the band, what's it from? This is fucking awesome.
Only thing I miss on this arethe ability to color code the scribble strips. 😔
The world is a much more boring place without Frank Zappa in it.
Hardly Zappa's line. "How's your bird?" is a common British phrase. Your bird is your girl.

@@grouchosays Over 8,500 songs! Earned him a Guinness world record. Marilyn Maye still sings a few of them, including I Love You Today.
He also wrote “Cool Yule,” which you usually hear sung by Louis Armstrong.

There's a lot to unzip here.

I have my eye on one myself Enjoy Tony!
How is it working for you so far?
@@vtown1364 I have the 16 channel version still in use currently. It works fantastic. When I have a bigger desk I’ll switch.

Two under appreciated geniuses
I didn't realize Frank Zappa went that far back.

that far back and that far ahead......miss Frank.
He was even born earlier.
@@kevinogracia1615Most of my generation remembers him for his 1979 hit "Dancin' Fool."
...and they talk about 80's hair! WOWZA!
there is another clip on UA-cam that shows Frank doing his performance before the end interview we saw here. He played a bicycle.
that was a great show
Of course Zappa was the prolific composer.... but Steve Allen supposedly wrote 7000 songs. Whoa.
Like they always say though...name two of them.

Suzy's hair needs it's own zip code
No shit. If my memory serves, bouffant hairdos were out two years before this appearance; so somebody didn't read the papers or their memos.
That woman's neck is stronger than a damn redwood.
It's impressive
A young Frank reminds me a little of Bob Saget.
"Ram it, ram it, ram it......."
Well, y'know..."How's your bird?" is a phrase that has more than one meaning.
Did Frank's nose grow over the years,
I don't think so. If anything, it looks bigger in the Steve Allen appearance, due to Frank's short hair.
Everybody's nose grows over the years.
Steve Allen can come across as kind of a stuffed shirt. In fact, he grew up dirt poor and had to beg to survive in the 1930s.

Steve was a man of his era. He despised rock n roll as did most parents who were of the WWII generation.
That woman's hair is freakier than Frank. Zappa always came off as a condescending prick.
but he spoke very highly of you.
Truth is admired, until someone tell the truth about you. Then they are a prick.
- Steve and Frank together makes the universe lean to one side.
Seeing Frank Zappa smile and doesn't look like an Arabic guy feels so weird LMAO.
WTH?! Frank's father was partially of Arabic descent. Why the hell shouldn't he look Arabic as well?
Well, just wait until you find out about Kasey Kasem.
