LNER B1 'Mayflower' Storming the Climb into Oakengates on Test Run with 37688 in the Pouring Rain!
In some very wet and cold conditions (perfect for filming steam haha!), we see 'Bongo' LNER B1 61306 'MAYFLOWER' working hard climbing the bank into Oakengates Station and into the Tunnel, with a heavy dead load of LSL Mk3's in InterCity Livery, with 37688 'Great Rocks' on the back.
Sadly I think the rain got into the camera and now I'm having issues with the camera, but at least I think I got a good video out of it!

    A couple of drops of neat washing-up liquid to clean the strips...Use a syringe to fill the CMX slowly! IPA 99.9% 5L containers and pour into a 1L bottle and syringe from this. Slow to medium speed providing the pad is sufficiently moist...plenty of ventilation. Hornby 56...Bachmann 66, etc., etc. The CMX is the best and well worth the cost and will repay many times over. I also use the Dapol vacuum-cleaner...Only but...don't use IPA with anything painted and plastic!

    As of 2023 she was still in the same spot at Cheddleton and in the same condition, if not worse. Heavy moss in the side vents and a streak of rust going right through her name on the other side. It's a shame, as she's a celebrity loco.

    Has anyone swapped out the wheel sets for narrow guage? (HOm) Is this a possibilty as my layout is HOm guage and as I have a couple of hidden helixes this would otherwise be a perfect solution to all the manual cleaning I must do. Thanks for any comments on this.

    Hi, great honest review, I really like the class 73, I quite fancy it in network rail yellow livery, it’s a shame I see constant bad reviews about this model, the lighting function is non latching, I’m sure dcc controllers can get around that issue, Hornby do a Railroad version that doesn’t appeal to me as I’m not a fan of Railroad, hope Accurascale will produce a version or maybe Bachmann will, mind you Bachmann’s version will probably cost a kidney. Maybe Dapol will pull their act together and sort this model out, thanks for sharing.

    bargain...not. that stuff causes problems, lack of proper wheel to rail contact. and absorbs water out of the air. thus induces corrosion. but the cmx track cleaner car is the best on the market, and they know it, thus the price.

    • @InterCityBR
      @InterCityBR Рік тому

      I have a 14xx and my curves are Flexi that are smaller than 2nd radius, likewise the pannier as well it doesn't like them and does like to derail, I would highly recommend to avoid R1 curves as you will also get buffer lock with any stock, hope this helps as I speak from experience 👍

    How do you ensure the blade on your connector has made a good connection You do not want s wire that looks connected sitting there not connected and just sitting tbere giving no benefit.

    • @InterCityBR
      @InterCityBR Рік тому

      Hi, on these blades they clip shut and only so when they've cut though the wire making a good connection, only way to really check is check the power to the track and if it's not what you think it should be is to try again with another connection, hope this helps

      Thanks for this vid & these comments - I came across it as am about to embark on doing this for myself RSN (but with N Gauge) - can I ask a related question please? Ahead of actually trying this for myself, when clamping the wires with the blade, is there any risk of being too “enthusiastic” resulting in the blade completely severing the wire at all? Thanks :)

      Hi, I use a Morley Twin controller, I think you can pick them up from themselves direct or even from tower models in Blackpool. I went with it as it has a high 5amp output which Heljan Diesel locos need as they are twin motored and pull some bigger Amps

    Great video, when I purchased a couple of Bachmann 108s a number of years ago I took the opportunity when fitting decoders to fit some Bachmann fare paying passengers but not over crowded and did include the corners as you said and it does make a real difference and takes away the ghost train affect. This was done around 07when rrps weren't going through the roof. Ps I think some passengers may be a bit camera shy!

    There is nothing wrong with these locomotives the problem is your track, 1mm is 3 inches in the real world. The track is not even bolted down you can see it move. The worst review I have ever seen. I see somebody else on here does not have any issues. The problem purely and simply is your badly laid track, there is no nice way to say it. The pick ups work fine, in my view they are a lot better than the flimsy flexible items that are on other locos. I have 3 of these locos and they run great. Have a look at this, I have over 68 peco insulfrog points on my layout. ua-cam.com/video/_aA-CJ5bPC8/v-deo.html. I have done loads of video of my class 73 locos.
