This is an account from Arthur "Artie" Roberts, the former MGM employee who unearthed this DVD about a month prior to its opening and closing segments being released on this channel. "Dear Nick, I don't know how to begin describing what I found... I understand that you particularly idolize our studio not just for the movies, but for the striking brand identity, which is reasonable. It also is of my understanding that you have also watched Tom and Jerry as a child and it means a great deal to you. Well... how else could I put this... Somehow, before the entire Turner rights kerfuffle, we had planned to release the first 15 shorts of Tom and Jerry on DVD with a release date of February 26, 1999. This came with great fanfare as we had also collaborated with THX for several audiovisual enhancements. Unfortunately, that never came to fruition because of extremely stubborn upper management... A few pre-production copies were made to begin pitches to investors; however, most of them never made it out of headquarters and they were eventually destroyed a year or two later after we were ordered to relinquish all material related to Turner Entertainment post-Warner acquisition. I was lucky enough to have kept one or two of them in my domicile before this came to pass, and I believe this is the only copy I have that survived. Before I resigned from my post in 2000 to begin work at 20th Century Fox, I was trusted with several trade secrets that could land both companies in serious trouble if the public knew about the nefarious treatments that several Turner-owned IPs faced at the hands of Warner... I share this with you in confidence, Nick. If you wish to upload your usual segments to your UA-cam channel, feel free to do so. But be prepared to take action at a moment's notice. They do not wish for their dirty dealings to be known. Additionally, do not permit others to upload this to their channel. I just clicked on your channel after watching this menu-less Blu-ray, only to get flashed by that DVD logo from the channel trailer, which was the main thing I was terrified of as a kid lol. Also nice nod at the WHV warning(s) with the disclaimer!
