    Ummm.....yea....we came for the DIY portion of sleeving the shock. I seem to have missed the DIY portion?? Yep, everyone has hydraulic presses, mandrels, and such..... Sure am glad I went with the steel bodied shock upgrade when I did all the spring/internal work! Lucky for you, you have access to the required tooling to do this job!

  • @FreedomIsntFree2023
    @FreedomIsntFree2023 2 роки тому

    Well that is pretty severe!! Yea, it's funny that Todd at HW often says there is no need to replace the "inner" rollers on the secondary as they rarely fail. He may be right on that, but when they do....BAM....there you have it! Once a year, I do a full breakdown/inspection of the clutches and then routine blowing out of the clutches every 2-3 rides. Good job!

  • @FreedomIsntFree2023
    @FreedomIsntFree2023 2 роки тому

    I applaud you young man for first, working on your car to try and fix whatever is not working properly and second, for producing a video on your work! So you probably removed the tire/shock for the purposes of the video? If that is not the case, I just wanted to pass on that removing the clutch cover should be done with the car not jacked up as jacking causes the shock to get closer to the clutch cover. Also, Polaris has a retrofit kit (to the 2015 style) to allow a second air inlet tube at the secondary. It is a shame the original owner didn't get that done, as it was a free upgrade for a short time. On the shock debris shield, do you know it is mounted backwards? It should be facing forward to block debris from hitting the shock shaft. Having a stock suspension (other than the Shock Therapy), you should not have any issues correcting this. Lastly, I can not stress the importance of not allowing the primary clutch spin clockwise when tightening the bolt/removing the clutch. If you allow it to spin, you run the risk of allowing the timing chain to jump a tooth and then you lose your timing....that is bad news! Having a 2014 since new, I have fashioned a home remedy for this but now I see Todd over at HW also has a "universal holding tool" that looks to work fantastic for this. And yes, I've been on the RZR forum since 2010....see you there!!

    Hello there Mr. Big!! Great job on putting your videos together! Might I make a couple suggestions to you on your clutch maintenance routine?? For one, dump the brake cleaner...... Start off your cleaning by blowing out the clutches (rollers, pivot points, bearing) with compressed air and I'd say go as far as removing the helix from the secondary to gain access to the internal rollers there too. From there, using rubbing alcohol and a paper towel, clean the sheaves and rollers. For an aggressive sheave cleaning, use a green scotchbrite pad with the RA, before a paper towel. Note, with the scotchbrite, rub from inner to outer, across the grooves caused by the belt. (Think against the grain, not with the grain) Then, finish cleaning the sheaves with RA and paper towel.

    • @thebigoutside9623
      @thebigoutside9623 3 роки тому

      Thanks for the suggestion! I ended up giving the inside a good clean by taking off the helix and making sure the rollers are good inside. Also what is wrong with the brake cleaner?

    • @FreedomIsntFree2023
      @FreedomIsntFree2023 3 роки тому

      @@thebigoutside9623 From what I understand, the brake cleaner leaves a residue behind and can accelerate belt deterioration. In practice, you are not removing grease or lube from the clutches (nor should any ever be applied to the clutches), so RA is a sufficient cleaner without residue to damage the belt. An air comp, RA, paper towels, and scotchbrite is all I have ever used on my clutches since my first sxs (2008 ranger). With regards to the belt, when I pull the clutches, I will inspect the belt for cracking or delamination, if none detected, I will wash belt in warm water, scrubbing the driven surface with Dawn dish soap and the scotchbrite to renew the belt surface. Always reinstall belt in same direction as removed. As I am a desert guy, I blow out the clutches every other ride by only removing the cover, not removing the clutches from the car (or after about 500 mi or so) and use the scotchbrite for cleaning sheaves once a year. I have never had a blown belt nor a failed clutch. The only issue I ever had was flat spotted OEM secondary rollers on my 2014 XP4 and since replacing those with a set from Hunterworks, never another issue in well over 6000 mi so far.

    • @thebigoutside9623
      @thebigoutside9623 3 роки тому
