Watching this video breaks my earth for many reasons. Being a native to Houston and living in Livingston, tx for t he past 10 years, we got to know Douglas really well. Weekly meetings in town getting coffee, hearing him laugh louder than anyone else in the room! He was such a special person. He finally got his life back on track and the cancer took him, but I know he left here happier than he has been in a very long time.

Glad to get to see him perform at CMA music festival a few years ago. What a legend. RIP man. Gonna miss you

Hey Monty I met your son last night. He helped work on my new HVAC system. He said you guys would be interested in a boat. I showed him mine. It is 18 ft pontoon boat 40hp Johnson. About 3 year ago we had the boat place in Azle rebuild the carburator so we could be ready for the season but I came down with 2 kinds cancer they had to operate. Needless to say I never got a chance to get back 9ñ the water. I sold my pickup and parked my boat.

Doug was one of my mother's favorites. I just recently heard this song for the first time and thought how happy she would have been for him to be making a comeback after his bad years. On top of that, the song dealt with intense feelings of love and loss. And then I read that he had died over a year ago and it hurt more than I expected. Doug may have never gotten the recognition he deserved from the Nashville establishment, but there was one woman in NC who loved his work. If there is a "great concert in the sky" for musicians we have lost, I know she will be in the front row for his set. RIP, Doug.
