“River drift” if you have lost anyone in your life this song will make you cry Twiddle‘s last show at the capital theater Frendsgiving Ali was all choked up, but he was able somehow to keep on singing. He was so happy and so sad and all of us fans were overwhelmed with every single song they played in their repertoire over those two nights.

“How music effect mind of listeners” fMRI machines can be rented hourly, let’s scan some human brains listening to whatever MM wants to serve. Cool shit guys. I wonder what hammerhead shark’s brains would do. Their electroreceptors can “see” the earths magnetic fields.

I love to listen to interviews with Bill. The way he looks at music like something natural you interact with. There is no talk about scales, "you need to transcribe all Charlie Parker solos", this that the other. It is purely focused on the feeling of music, listening to your co musicians and following the flow where it takes you. Feels like all the best players emphasise the softer parts of music, playing what you like, how it feels like or how to get a lovely tone. Everyone else is stuck talking about scales, arpegios, reharms etc.

Im so grateful I just stumbled across this! My brother and I have really been diving down the musical rabbit hole on Medeski (my brother and I both play keys) but also MMW lately and so far I haven't found anyone else musically that takes me quite as far as these guys take me with their imrov and fluidity/freedom or fearlessness to tear down all boundaries and let the music go where it's going to go. My Grandpa Ron Corsaro was a big jazz pianist and I've always had so much appreciation for letting loose in imrov, and I've always struggled with playing with people that want to make so many rules and basically tell you what to play/what not to play... it really puts a stopper in my creativity and I feel so trapped in those situations. Lately I've just been trying to finally really let myself learn to get over that fear of playing the wrong thing and holding myself back for whatever reason. This is the first interview I've watched with Medeski actually speaking about some of these things and I'd love to dig up a bunch more things on him to pick his brain a little... thank you for all involved making this one! Really enjoyed it 🙏🙏🙏

Very good interview Qs. GBA is one of the most under-rated bands of all time! I didn't even know instrumental jazz-rock was a thing until luckily I bought Robert Walter's CD, There Goes the Neighborhood, at age 40 for 500 yen; just b/c I liked the colors of the case and could read the spine. I figured, 'Oh, here's a CD for adults.' I was immediately hooked. I'd been looking for a new direction away from The Doors and Warren Zevon (both dead). RW led me to all sorts of new artists :-)

PPPP was my number one band listened too last year on Spotify! lol That said, I saw my first show last week in Covington, KY. I am a semi-pro musician, and music is my life, I have seen A LOT of shows, and I do not say this lightly... Hands down one THE best live bands I have ever seen!!!! SO MUCH FUN!!!!! The band, the songs, the musicality, the sound, the LIGHTS, everything was ON POINT!!! Gator's groove, timing, his pocket, his feel is out of this world! I am a guitar player, but for me, I totally put Gator up there with Adam Deitch, Nate Smith, and Petar Janjic... for realz! I feel like I am now a part of the flock, and I can't wait for the next PPPP show!!! Great interview,,, Thank you!!!

@15:44 My first time... I couldn't describe what I heard in his playing (or if it was even something that could be "heard") because it was completely supra-musical in nature. I just recognized it as truth and said "I wanna do that." That was almost 20 years ago. Last year we sat at my old BX-3 for two hours playing stridulations, improvising, talking about Phil Lesh. Thanks for the inspiration all these years John. And thank you for sharing this interview. I subscribed and will be watching

I absolutely love Chuck Garvey! He is my favorite guitarist, hands down. With that said, it's terrifying how badly this stroke messed him up. And then, his recovery is unbelievable! He has gained back a lot in a short time. Although, we can easily see that he has a good distance to go. I do believe his progress will continue in leaps and bounds, and that he will eventually, and hopefully, reach a point where someone who don't know him will be unable to detect that anything is wrong. This is really the first interview I have seen since his stroke and it's a bit jarring to see how much he still struggles to just communicate normally. That's basically my hero and to see what a tiny little blood clot can result in is frightening to say the least. But I'm so happy he is doing well enough to rejoin the band and is continuing to regain his stability as time passes. I am very hopeful to be able to see Moe. by the years end.
