Im not a paciifc austronesian by any means but i really don’t believe any of this. Yeah tongans had their own monuments and achievements in polynesia but they did NOT build the moai!! Theres nothing like the moai in any of the lands ruled by the tui tonga empire as the rapa nui people built all the moai heads and what not. I love tonga 🇹🇴 and tongan culture from turkey but i dont see how the tongans could have built the moai when the rapa nui had their own script, other religions like tangata manu and tije differences etc..

I AM NOT COMMENTING THIS BECAUSE IM SAMOAN⚠️⚠️⚠️. I 💯 believe that all polynesian came from Samoans or Tu'i Manu'a empire. I don't care which empire is bigger, I care where do most polynesian originate from. But I will list out summaries and links below: 🇹🇴Tonga:According to Samoan oral tradition, Tonga was once under the sway of the Tui Manu'a and paid tribute to the chiefs of Samoa. In the tenth century this dominance was reversed, the Tui Manu'a were supplanted by the Tuʻi Tonga Empire, and Samoa's chiefs paid tribute to Tonga. In the thirteenth century Talakaifaiki brought Samoa under his direct control, and established a capital at Safotu on the island of Savaiʻi. He was later driven out by the progenitors of the Malietoa dynasty.Despite this successful rebellion intermarriages between Tongan and Samoan chiefly lines continued, and Ngata, the progenitor of the current Tonga royal dynasty, the Tuʻi Kanokupolu, was of Samoan descent.According to Samoan legend, Aso'aitu (Aho’eitu in Samoan) was the first Tu’i Tonga (ruler of the south) and son of a deified Samoan high chief, Tangaloa ‘Eitumâtupu’a, and whose mother was a Tongan woman, Va’epopua, of great noble birth. This double origin, entitled the Tu’i Tonga to hold both divine and secular offices. For Samoa in particular, it was especially important to have these genealogical links in order for one's rule to be legitimized. This is seen again in later centuries during Queen Salamasina's time, as she was descended from this same line of both Samoan and Tongan aristocracy. In principle, the close cultural and historical interlinkages between Fiji, Samoa and Tonga were essentially elitist, involving the intermarriage between regional aristocratic families. 🇼🇫 Uvea Mo Futuna (Wallis And Futuna:Oral tradition records rich connections with the Samoans, whose arrival was peaceful. The sovereigns of the kingdom of Alo would thus come from Samoa (lineage of Fakavelikele). Similarities in constructions were also observed between the two islands. There is no suspect of the connection between Uvean (Wallisan) and Samoan I could find. 🇳🇺Niue:Polynesians from Samoa settled Niue around 900 AD. Further settlers arrived from Tonga in the 16th century. 🇹🇰 Tokelau:Archaeological evidence indicates that the atolls of Tokelau - Atafu, Nukunonu, and Fakaofo - were settled about 1,000 years ago from Samoa. 🇳🇿Aotearoa/New zealand: www.tiktok.com/@themsavaiiboys/video/7296025599687003393?is_from_webapp=1&sender_device=pc&web_id=7315791942980519426 Tuwhaka-raro - Tuisavalalo Whakatau-potiki - Va'atausili Manahua - Manu'a Muriwhenua - Mulifanua Whangaroa - Fagaloa Whangarei - Fagalei Apakura - Apalua 🇺🇲Hawaii: www.tiktok.com/@themsavaiiboys/video/7270805144026041602 Hawai'i Havai'i (pronounced in hawaiian) Savai'i Links: www.science.org/content/article/game-changing-study-suggests-first-polynesians-voyaged-all-way-east-asia www.smh.com.au/world/oceania/study-reveals-intrepid-seafarers-started-in-samoa-before-settling-polynesia-20210923-p58u3v.html www.samoanews.com/linking-samoans/dna-study-reveals-samoa-islands-starting-point-polynesian-migration www.worldhistory.org/uploads/images/10691.png?v=1599156904 www.gifex.com/detail-en/2009-12-29-11508/Polynesian_migration_in_Oceania.html Empire size comparison: Tu'i Manu'a: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tui_Manu%27a#/media/File%3ATui_Manu'a_Empire_Map.png Tu'i tonga: twitter.com/GeographyNow/status/1525942109584228352 Empire Language comparison: Tu'i Manu'a: Samoan Tongan Fijian Futunan Niuean Uvean Tuvaluan Tokelauan Cook Islands Māori i-Kiribati Tahitian Rotuman Pukapukan Tuʻi Tonga: Samoan Tongan Futunan Uvean Fijian Many Polynesian languages uses "k" in their alphabet while the Samoan uses the " ' "(Apostrophe) in their alphabet which support that some alphabet are added from the Samoan language. I believe the Tongans were introduced to ocean Pacific voyaging via the Egyptian explorers around 400BC. Hieroglyphs have been discovered throughout the Pacific, Australia and Western America. The monolith "Burden of Maui" is accredited to the Egyptian voyage. Maui is navigator, Ra Ta - Captain.

Kia Ora Malo, My name is Le Ana Seneti Fry, I was born in Christchurch, New Zealand. My father was born in Pea, tongatapu but he was deported when I was very young and haven't had any contact. Growing up in NZ was challenging without a link to my father or his family but I was blessed to have amazing Maori teachers and people around me that I was able to learn the importance of culture & tradition. The song at 9.24 sings to my soul ❤️ it gives me a sense of grounding here in Aotearoa, that there were ways of life like voyaging amongst the islands that we all shared. I would love to hear more about this song, if you don't mind sharing info of course, I hope it's not rude to ask? I'm currently studying bi-cultural social services, this would greatly help me to begin incorporating my Tongan side into my studies. Many thanks, Le Ana

I am Tongan and I don't believe this but If it was true then it have to be around right after Aho'eitu or before (450-950BC). Also I love how the Tongans and Samoans always against each other when it comes to history lol. I be drinking laughing and copying the stories so you be the judge to this. :Is this true? "Tu’i title in Samoa comes from a Tu’i Tonga, Tuna and Fata are exiled Tongans and descendants of Tala Fale. Sa’avai’i and Samoa are names given after Talakaifaiki”Kau ulu fonua”was exiled from Samoa the old names are Haamoa which is the Tongan name. Haa is the same as clan which are descendants of a Tu’i Tongan. Haa Avaiki is the Tongan name for Savai’i and is the island that the Tu’i Tonga kings lived on, Haamoa includes Kupolu(upolu) Kuvea(Uvea) and Kuila(tutuila) these islands belonged to the FaleFa(Ahoeitu’s half brothers) and Manua was not part of Haamoa. The name Tutuila came from the war between Tuna, Fata and Tala kaifaiki which means “to set fire to the sail” tutu is to burn and Ila is the name of the Tu’i Tongas sail(Ki’e Tonga) which were manufactured on Kuila. Tala kaifaiki had a large number of warriors on kuila but the night before the Tuna and Fata attack on the Tu’i Tonga their followers set fire to their sails which isolated them from the attack on their King, this the main reason Talakaifaiki was defeated, a history. Now for Manua, Tonga Fusifonua was from Tonga (which is named after him) and his half brother Tau Fulifonua. Tonga who lived in the village of Manuka was exiled to Tua motu(Manu’a) by his half brother. Thats were Okusitino is wrong, Kau ulufonua fekai had a half brother named Manu who was given the Title Manu fekai by his half brother and the title Tu’i Manuka for helping his brother locate their fathers killers. Now for the Archeological evidence, Haamonga a Maui, Langi faitoka, Sia Heu Lupe aslo star mounds in Samoa these are Sia built by the Tu’i Tongas during the rule there, Samoans call the walls built around them Patoga(walls of the Tu’i Tonga). There is no evidence of an empire in Manu’a these islands aren’t suited for that, and if it was important or Sacred as “some” Samoans claim why is it not named Sa Manu’a or Manu’a Tapu" :Another one The Tui Manu’a title was created by Tui Tatui. Manu’a (Manuka in tongan) means ‘To Wound’. They bestowed the Tui Manu’a title to the 11th Tui Tonga who was Tui Tatui, because he was the first Tui Tonga to get the traditional tattoo. Tongan kings were considered too holy and cannot shed blood in any way including warfare or tattoo. But Tui Tatui wished to shed blood and get the tattoo hence why they called him Tui Manuka (first king to shed blood/wounded) Samoans are closer to our royal family because most of the kings had Samoan women as wives and all the banished royals went to samoa. They took there house names from Tonga to Samoa hence why we have similar village names eg. Ahau/Asau etc Our royal girls blood were considered too pure and cannot marry Tongans or Samoans so they went and marry Fijians. The Tangaloa clan however lived in Langi. They did not live in the skies 😂😂 Langi is the king’s land/house, Fale is for the chiefs and ‘Api for the commoners. Throughout the whole pacific, Langi can only be found in Tonga. :From a Uvean "@Tongans gone shoot Malo Lailai (Greeting In fagauvean) alright so there was a legend of a powerful warrior who was referred to as ahu'eto he was a power legendary warrior who conquered the people of Fanguvea. He was from what we called in our legend and myths "Polianga oe fukau ngàahe tahi tui tonga' which translates to 'land and kingdom of adventures seas." After conquering the island it was said that he intermarried with a local ouvean women. After that he would bring many tongans to intermarry with the locals which brought the rise of fagauvea. The son of Aho'etu who was referred to as Mana'tukua who was known as the legendary chief of fagauvea he helped unify the whole of uvea island by the help of Mighty tongan warriors. This legend is mainly about "the rise of fagauvea" or "kou e Mahiki xere hake le fagauvea." :From a white man's perspective read this. It is a report that includes Fiji, Samoa and Tonga. books.google.com/books?id=lwFCAAAAYAAJ&pg=PA45&lpg=PA45&dq=clan+kantavu+of+fiji&source=bl&ots=sOswHfmbwc&sig=ACfU3U1E3gHYm3GT2XUkb46qK0md7p9bNA&hl=en&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwin4IiQ95v0AhWCTDABHRMaCp8Q6AF6BAg5EAM#v=onepage&q=tonga&f=false

Tonga is related to all the Pacific Islands through traditions and cultures and they have Histories that most of the Pacific islands knew and they talked about it and they also love Tongan more than Samoan but I don't wanna argue about this whole shit because it will never end. Aside from being the last monarchy in Polynesia...who have never loss its indigenous rulers...still in succession from its earliest days when Polynesia was still being settled by our Ancestors to the very present.....Every island that has Tangaroa and Maui stories were discovered settled by one and the same people ...we share ancestry ..our culture customs traditions language connects us.....without a doubt... According to our oral traditions we are descendants of Tangaloa and Maui .....the succession of the Tuitonga descend from Tangaloa ...we have our story of creation...and the geneology beginning with Moana(Ocean) down to Havea Hikuleo, Tangaloa Eiki, Maui Motua ...and there were many Tangaloa as well as many Maui .....Tangaloa Eitumatupu'a last of the ruling Tangaloa installed his son Ahoeitu first Tuitonga and was given full authority & power to demand what was always entitled and owed to Tangaloa which were the first fruits(polopolo) and mid year tribute gifts ( Inasi ) recorded by James Cook witnessing the annual Inasi ceremony of July 1777 where he saw people bringing gifts to the Tuitonga....some of them who appeared to be of African descent. There was a Inasi ceremony in the 1300s where stories commemorated and the road named after the historical event...But it was the Aotearoa people they had brought some huge Moa birds from Aotearoa and the path they took bearing their gift to the Tuitonga til this day it is called Halanga Moa ....story in Tonga .... Before the Tuitonga was installed....Tangaloa clan & Maui clan discovered, settled , governed and ruled Polynesia....the people worked the land and expressed their gratitude and appreciation for Tangaloa and Maui ...they established a chief over every island to help with governing and keeping ties with all of Polynesia...which is evident in the closeness of our languages, customs traditions our stories ...we were still very connected and kept ties for sure....According to the tongan Traditions.....Tangaloa and Maui were beginning to be distant memories as generations weren't the ones brought to their respective islands but grandkids and great great grandkids ...who were told the stories of them being gods 😂😂😂😂 The stories that kept the love, respect reverence and loyalty to Tangaloa and Maui began to unravel and dwindle ...Tangaloa Eitumatupu'a the last of the Tangaloa ruler established his son Ahoeitu as Tuitonga but....had he not.. Ahoeitu would have succeeded Tangaloa Eitumatupu'a as the next Tangaloa Ahoeitu .....He installed Ahoeitu Tuitonga....to retire the Tangaloa title to the god status it had already become throughout Polynesia.... Tuitonga Ahoeitu than became the demi god king, son of Tangaloa who'd rule under authority of Tangaloa. .... those are our tongan traditions. ...our current king traces his lineage directly to Tangaloa god of Polynesia 💪🏽❤🇹🇴 But sacred regards to all of Polynesia for we are all descendants of Tangaloa and Maui :) ......By the time pakeha haole , palagi discovered the world wasnt flat and entered our waters Old Polynesia that kept ties were dying out and seperate divided...too busy engaged in civil wars ......by the time they arrived we were in shambles ..which made it easy to take over and lay claim to our islands....

I reckon it's good to know our history though let's not have that become an obstacle for us islanders to come together. Damn people. Why worry about what island was first stepped on. There are more important things to worry about smh ahaha. Hate when Tongans and Samoans or any of our brown brothers start fighting especially when it's over something our understanding and knowledge cannot grasp upon. Straight up. If a Poly is on tv or doing whatever, then he/she represents all the islands of the Pacific. We take too much of our energy into hating other islands coz they claim that they come from the birthplace of the Pacific Ocean. Siana, why not use that energy for a more positive outcome. That way, we are not only helping ourselves but each other. There's only one God ay aha. All one people. Much luv from NZ thou ahaha

Hotu Matua (brother of Hotu Roa - captain of the Tainui waka of Aotearoa) from the Marquesas/Tuamotu Islands founded Rapa Nui... it was his descendants and the descendants of those who pioneered with him, that created the Moai statues on Rapa Nui. Collectively they came out of the Marquesas/Tuamotu Island group. They were NOT Tongan, had NO affiliation with Tui Tonga and were NEVER during any period in the Pacific's history, under Tongan rule. Please get your facts in order.

@Max Power interesting, here is what it says about the Tu'i Tonga Empire, " As the ancestral homeland of the Tu'i Tonga dynasty and the abode of deities such as Tagaloa 'Eitumatupu'a, Tonga Fusifonua, and Tavatavaimanuka, the Manu'a islands of Samoa were considered sacred by the early Tongan kings". From a Tongan webpage, "Tu'i Tonga Dynasty under the reign of 'Aho'eitu who was said to be a son of Tangaloa 'Eitumatupu'a from Langi/Sky, or it is now interpreted as Samoan, and a beautiful young woman, known as 'Ilaheva Va'epopua from Niuatoputapu (daughter of chief/warrior/to'a Seketoa)….Aho'eitu had five older brothers with Samoan mothers. The eldest among them was Talafale who formed the Ha'a Talafale, Talafale Lineage, or Tu'i Faleua/Second Tu'i Line; and the other four were Tu'i Folaha, Tu'i Loloko, Matakehe and Maliepō who formed the Falefā". It appears we are all the same people really, you agree?

@Max Power, the Tu’i Tonga Empire descend from the Ha’a Tangaloa Clan that resided in Tonga ‘Eiki also. They lived Langi, which in Tongan Tales pinpoint Tonga as Langi. It is only in Tonga that Langis are significant. Nowhere else in Polynesia has Langis, only Tonga ‘Eiki. We are one people in Polynesia however it is because of the Lapita People. The seafarers who entered Polynesia from the West. In Tongan Traditional Tales, it states that we Tongans originate from Pulotu. Pulotu is said to be from the West of Tonga, which surprisingly backs up the Scientific Proof that the Lapita People are our ancestors. Ahoeitu’s father Tangaloa Eitumatupu’a was from the Ha’a Tangaloa Clan. Ahoeitu’s mother Vaepopua left the Niuas as she couldn’t find a suitor in the Niuas, Samoa, Ha’apai & Vava’u. Vaepopua found a suitor in Tongatapu. This is where the Ha’a Tangaloa Clan resided & where she met Tangaloa Eitumatupu’a. This is how the Tu’i Tonga came to be.
