Titterpigs: The TTRPG Podcast
United States
Приєднався 15 вер 2021
*New Episodes will drop 24 hours after they go live on Anchor* Titterpigs is a podcast dedicated to the discussion of tabletop roleplaying games. Ironically, it's also the acronym for the commonly used #ttrpgs hashtag. Hosts Scott and Keith will dig their way into your eardrums and infect your brainpan. They're out to prove they have no idea what we are doing, but that won't stop them! With nearly 70 years of gaming experience between them, they have a few opinions. More importantly, they seek to be positive goodwill ambassadors for the hobby.
EP. 45 - Grogmeet'ish Virtual Con and Mythic Con Recap
The Titterpigs each participated in a separate gaming convention and they are here to bring you a recap of the cons and the games they played. Cheers.

This was a great chat. Awesome history lesson about Xcrawl and reasons to play it. Everything you want from an interview.
Glad you enjoyed it! 😊 Thank you. 🙏🏻
Video would be better. Especially in this day and age.
We are primarily an audio podcast on all podcast platforms and have the UA-cam channel as a convenience for some who prefer this platform but we do have vodcasts on our Patreon. If you’d like to enjoy this video interview and others, here is the link to sign up. Cheers. 😊www.patreon.com/titterpigs?
Played in enough PbtA (narrative) games to know I much prefer traditional Titterpigs … pretty much for the reasons you mentioned (plus I prefer more dice rolling and GM controlled narrative)
The main reason Titterpigs exists: so you can attend GenCon and write it off for taxes. Business Expense.
For what it's worth, the sound quality was pretty good all things considered.
Thank you for having Sir Larkins on.
Please more Sir Larkins!
Ennies should consider having a "Judges Choice" award. This might help alleviate the concern of it being a popularity contest.
What happened to his Twitter?
Just thought I’d come here to make my confession that I’m a long time listener of your show and been playing TTRPGs for over 35 years and only JUST NOW realised where the word Titterpigs derives from!!! <thanx to ‘Dungeon Newb’s Guide’ on YT> … seriously can’t believe I’ve never heard this before 😂
Found your podcast and I'm working my way through the older episodes while exercising. I'm going to strongly disagree about how the term "zine" used to be used. Zines were amatuer press basically. Someone(s) would be the editor and often publisher and writer but there were other writers submitting work as well. Lee Gold back in the mid 1970s (and of course still does) with Alarums & Excursions is a fine example of a zine. I strongly disagree with Andy about Arduin being a zine. Arduin Bloody Arduin was/is a supplement for old DnD. I will agree that the terminology has changed in recent decades and now the zines feel more like supplements done by a single person or a couple writers. No longer is a zine an amateur press magazine. I still fondly recall as an aside picking up Alarums & Excursions at a local independent bookstore in West Covina back in 1978, Alarums & Excursions at least back then were pastel color paper covers and then the rest of the zine was single sheet that was stabled together. Good stuff. Anyhow, enjoying the podcast. :) Edit: on the Print on Demand stuff from DriveThruRpg, I've found like you all snagging some of the old material via DriveThruRpg is quite useful. Sure the maps are cut up, but you get the pdf with the PoD and what I've done is print up those cut up maps and that made them quite usable. :) Oh and I love the comparison with the old zines being a lot like forums of today but in slow motion. lol Nailed it.
Fun listen, would have joined but was running a game. I'm running Never Going Home at Dragonmeet, ran an online playtest of it (slightly unsatisfactory as you have to manage specific card decks, so face-to-face works so much better) - but happy to run it again on The Raspy Raven as I now have ideas/bots to improve it!
"Never heard of any of these..." - we're pretty used to that 😂 You guys should give us a listen!!
It was either my 1st or 2nd GenCon (leaning toward my 1st) when they had my game of Stealing the Eye (designed for 4 players) double booked. I ended up with 8 players (at least half of which were Marines from Camp Lejeune - Ooh-Raah) so we had to augment the pregens with the Quickstart pregens. It was a lot of fun, but I'd never want to do that again. Of course, they never got close to the temple deciding to take out the guard barracks first so they couldn't sneak up behind them.
I went to the Kroger one year.
Discussion of the Space 1889 game had me laughing hard. What a horror show!
Huzzah Pookie! You give those Palladium boosters whatfor! While I don't hate Rifts, an index is CATEGORICALLY an essential inclusion in a gaming textbook. And the fact that they HAVE made an index, but choose to try to sell it to customers instead of supplying them with it, is offensive.

Hungover Bud™ is my new favorite NPC. B&G looks spectacular Scott!
Well done Pookie. 100% correct on all counts!
What a lovely group! Have tons of fun, everyone!
I was expecting to see a clean shorn Scott... but I guess that stubble pops right back in!
Really digging the show so far. Non 5e ttrpg focused and old guys (like me) that aren't "Get Off My Lawn Types." Very glad the intro changed. I missed out on the whole zine thing while in the Marines. I would love to see a list of the zines you all talked about or a good resource to look them up.
You said that most of your listeners know who David "Zeb" Cook is. I know who he is. But does the other listener? ;-)
Good show as always. Thank you!
I appreciate the serious stance about the pronunciation of zine! And thank you guys for the kind words. Keep up the great work.
There were so many more zines I wanted to show and discuss!!! Thanks for having me on.
I was thinking about this Horror as a Genre thing. I'm not sure I'm totally on board with that. Horror rarely appears in a game by itself. I think horror accompanies other genres. For instance, Those Dark Places is considered a horror game, but if you peel away the horror, it's Sci Fi. Dark Conspiracy is Horror(ish), but peel that away and you have Urban Fantasy. If you peel away the Sci Fi in Those Dark Places, there's not really a game. Rip the Urban Fantasy aspect from Dark Conspiracy, again, there's not much of a game. Don't get me wrong, I love horror. I just think Horror is more of a game flavor than a genre in itself. What flavors of game do you guys like? Horror came up for both of you. Gritty (like Symbaroum)? Epic High Fantasy (like the old Dragonlance novels and setting)? Others? This is a really good podcast and I'm looking forward to the next one!
