Hello! My name is Facundo Álvarez and I welcome you to “Tocar Percusión”, a website designed to open the doors to the world of percussion and give you access to all the necessary resources so that you can learn to play and make music with percussion instruments, through a simple, fun and learning method, suitable for all audiences, which does not require you to have previous knowledge of music.
I have created the community “Tocar Percusión”, with the aim of providing a focused learning experience, both, in which you develop as a percussionist, and, in which you can implement what you have learned in the collective and collaborative production of music from the rhythm and percussion.

Ok! I found this channel about 2-3 wks ago. I little different tablature/notation than other instructors, but I can write it out myself. Definitely a different style of almost always alternating the hands. This video moved a little quicker in putting the whole pattern together in comparison to the Steely Dan and Stevie Wonder songs. It’s good for me to get a different style of instruction/style! A technical note, the verbal spoken instructions are a very different volume than the congas and the music. Looking forward to spending more time with your videos.

Great video broken down well. It reminds a bit of Mozambique New York style. Interesting you're using smaller drums with more alternating hand to hand way of playing. The only thing that I found a little confusing was how you were counting in 4 x 2 (without the eights) as for me the main accent slaps are mainly on the 2nd beats. I have subscribed as I like the different approach you have in your playing.

In regards of your comment my approach to playing the song is from a more Brazilian Samba/Bossa Nova rhythm which in general doesn’t use the slaps in the 2nd beat. In fact if you move away from Latin Rhythms that happens a lot. You can check that on the others videos I made about great songs you can play on congas.

I started the "tumbao" way 2 yrs ago as my first experience in creating music. I definitely find it a fun way, but my ears are more accustommed to simpler rythms. So now i look for those rythms from funk, pop or any other modern ones. This video opened my eyes and hopefully ears :) Thank you so much!
