My thoughts on the "Fonti Medievali" of San Gimignano, Italy. There were no signs with any information about it, nor could I find much elsewhere, so you're getting an enthusiast's thoughts here, rather than archaeologically backed evidence.

I’ve been playing this piece over the course of today, and just felt like sharing it. Fortune My Foe - John Dowland Renaissance Lute - 8 courses
Leaves From The Vine (Avatar: the Last Airbender) - Lute Cover

A simple but soothing song, sung by Uncle Iroh in season 2 of ATLA. It was sung by the late Mako, Iroh’s voice actor, and is a tribute to him. This is my cover of the song on an 8 course Renaissance Lute. I apologize for the vocals, I’m not the best at singing!
Mrs. Winter’s Jump, John Dowland - Lute

My most recently learned song. Not exactly the same as in the Folger Dowland manuscript, but close enough!

Assassins Creed 4: Black Flag - Balalaika

Just a short cover I figured out of the Main Theme for Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag. No sheets, sorry. I can’t read sheet music, I played it by ear.
Renaissance Lute - The First Noel

Another Holiday Lute song. I’m just starting to learn the Lute, I only received it the day before recording. More to come in future!
I thank you more than words can express I started to play balalaika a few months ago and this video helped me learn katyusha quickly enough to be able to play it correctly in under a week. So I played it for my (german/russian) family and my great grandma started to sing and to dance with my grandpa to this song. This is one of the best and last memory i ever shared with her and ever will. Thank you for that, sincerely. I am so proud that i have this memory ingraved in my mind, and i had to thank you for it ❤
That is a wonderful memory, I'm so glad you were able to make it! Thank you for sharing, you've made my day!
Sounds great!
«Ну хто так играет? Пальчиками её, пальчиками!» Зачёт, товарищ!
Thanks so much for the guide!

Amazing and beautiful
I just got one too, learning to strum it because i think it sounds more authentic, however, I (too) am using a pick on mine too 3 string.
Blah blah blah don't say it just play it , we'll watch you
It sounds kind of similar to when I am working on dinosaur bones😂
Thank you man!
I’ve just acquired a cheap one. I’ve scoured endless videos on what to do with/ how to tune these instruments. Yours is the best and clearest by far. Thanks a lot.
please make more tutorials!!
unrelated to the video but you should deffinetly make more Balalaika tutorials, for different folk songs, I'd really love to learn Kalinka, i have already learned from your Balalaika tutorials but there's not enough...

Tabs?
Thank you for the tutorial!! Not too many people make guides; for a solo learner, it's a life saver!
Sounds wonderful on the lute, well done!
Bro, this song is called Kalinka Malinka, not Katyusha. 🤣
Similar songs to be sure, they share some chords, but this is most definitely Katyusha, not Kalinka. Kalinka is recognizable by it's repeating riff at the start of the song which increases in speed each time it's played.
@@solomonisms9000 Bro, that's definitely not a Katyusha.
@@CANIBALSHOP ua-cam.com/video/7J__ZdvsZaE/v-deo.htmlsi=sPGQeqTC21wviZd1 Katyusha. Maybe easier to recognize it with Lyrics
Thanks so much for making this guide! This is the song that first wanted to make me learn balalaika, a couple of years ago... I gave up with the idea once, rediscovered the same song and decided to jump for it, saved up the money, purchased a balalaika and - damn! Nearly destroyed in shipping. Head snapped clean off. Two months of procrastination and restoration work and I finally sit down to learn to play, and not only have you made a guide to the exact song I want, but it's easy for a beginner like me! Thanks again from the UK!
Thank you for your tutorial. It was very good.
from what i was told archeology is about 80% research, 15% writing and 5% digging. if you're lucky
It depends on your role. For me in a lower level position, I certainly do more digging than writing, but for the supervisors, or those running the site, they spend most of their time researching and writing reports.
Where did you buy this lute from?
From Thomann www.thomannmusic.com/ They don't make this exact one anymore, but they've still got some options. If you're thinking of getting one, I'd say it's worth doing. Lutes are a joy to play
@@solomonisms9000 they're all insanely expensive.
@@marvinthemaniac7698 Yeah, lutes tend to be that way. I haven't looked at Thomann's selection recently, but when I got this one it was the least pricey one I could find from any source. Truly a shame that they don't make it anymore.
I cannot find the notes for this :( Could you help?
this is soo cool. love
Thanks for this! I just got myself a balalaika and I'm trying to learn how to play it, so your tutorials for katyusha and korobeiniki make it really full and accessible for my musically-challenged self.
Love a good mythic tale!! That is a great touch to put the finger in one of the doorknobs, very fun!
Interesting video. Your camera work is better than you give yourself credit for, but never stop improving. Love the historical videos btw
Thank you, I'm still learning about the process of making a halfway decent video, and I aim to continue getting better. More historical videos are in the works, stay tuned!
Can you adjust the String Action on your Laute? Wouldn't it be easier then to Play. And some fresh Strings would be nice also
I could play with the action a bit, but it's at a place I am comfortable with at the moment. The strings at the time of recording were at the end of their life though, they've since been replaced.
Why are you using a pick?
Because at the time I was new to the instrument and hadn't figured out how to make it sound nice without one yet. Nowadays I play without a pick.
Beautiful
Your a great teacher thanks!
Another song would be great. So few tutorials out there, it would be nice to have more. Thanks so much for this one!
Great tutorial, but real balaika players don't use guitar picks!
I've since taught myself to play without, but at the time I was pretty new to the instrument
Yo, I bought the same model yesterday hahahah
Bravo
Is this a 1980 Moskou olimpics balalaika?? I have on too!! Different one tho
best balalaika demo on youtube
That was so epic, i know it's probably 2 years late but if u can, I think it'll be pretty cool for you to do a tutorial on the song or where do u think I should learnt it?
Did you know that the Balalaika three strings
