Awful. 19 years in law enforcement have I ever seen a LEO stop the entire highway for 4 sport bikes. Absolutely asinine, our job is to protect and serve. This is not protecting anyone.

Funny thing is that 99% of people in cars don't understand the real reason we as motorcyclists lane split in the first place and why it's legal in a lot of States. It has nothing to do with the rider be impatient or feeling privileged (Although that might apply). Admittedly it is a dangerous riding skill/manuver that should only be used by a well seasoned advanced rider. ,zZIf you are honest with yourself, and are ablrme to admit you don't belong in the deep-end of the pool so to speak. Maybe you should avoid gridlock & interstates during rush hour & stick to the surface streets. Bein im a hurry doesn't mattet if you die trying to get somewhere With all that being said it's arguably just as unsafe for a bike to be at the back of a line of cars that are stopped on the Interstate ( Where a majority of rear end accidents happen) with the cars coming up behind you like a 3000lb missle traveling at highway speeds. That drivet may not be paying attention, he might be rubber-necking, under the influence, playing with his radio or radio, or all of the above. The other reason bikes lane split is because a majority of bikes are air cooled not water cooled through a radiatorlike a car. Meaning that if they are stopped or constantly stopping & going too slow for too long, not only is there a huge chance of burning up the clutch, or overheating a brake caliber causing brake failure, there's a huge chance of over heating the engine & doing major irreversible damage to the engine. If you watch close the cyclists was a newbie, or just has poor skills. He actually went into a rear wheel wobble as he drove over the asphalt repair lines or what some call (Road Snakes) right before he made contact with the other vehicle I honestly think between the wind noise, the blarring Blue Oyster Cult & the stop & go traffic the obviously inexperienced rider was dealing with sensory overload & not aware of how distracted he was. He needs to take a few riding courses or just give up riding. "Just because you can afford a certain type of vehicle, & just because you csn start the same said vehicle doesn't mean you should be driving, or have the skills to pilot that vehicle. As a person who has over 30 years riding experience in traffic, & a Paramedic with over 25 year's Critical Care experience, & as an AMA instructor for all levels, there are many indications that this guy was an inexperienced rider for sure.
