There isn't one elephant in the room but several. If XR is to succeed, it seriously needs to take responsibility for its campaign stance which appears to be unsupported by the public at large. This video has been up for over 1 week and has received only 1410 views and 66 likes. No mention of growing population and its associated impact on depletion of available resources? What of the global reduction of air travel and tourism (neither of which is likely to return to pre-2020 levels any time soon)? In my opinion, XR seriously needs to look in the mirror and go figure why, despite an inspired social media campaign, it's message is not getting across to the person in the street. Or is XR saying that the majority of people have their heads in the sand. Elephants or ostriches?

What Dr Grossman is saying is bad enough - and she works hard to translate this into language which is understandable to the public and politicians, for which, unlike many of her scientific colleagues she deserves credit - but, as she must know, the IPCC does not represent the gold standard of anything when it comes to predicting climate change or communicating accurately the risks. The IPCC has consistently and massively understated, for decades, the risks due to their over reliance on 'peer-reviewed' scientific papers which are simply inadequate to keep up with what is actually happening. We don't need more theory - it's not that complicated - we need reporting on what is happening in real time, not least in the Arctic but all the floods etc right now for example, and scientists willing to say, right now this is down to climate change - via jet streams, increased precipitation etc etc. Yes their models are catching up but too slowly and the papers take too long to write. The science is settled - they need to stop researching, stick to observing only and start communicating live. The reality is far worse than what this Doctor is saying, she must know this, it's not clear why she is not saying so.
