UPDATE TO MY PREVIOUS POST... "The Ralph Carmichael Orchestra, Volume 1" was actually the title given to the album when it was 're-released'! (Unfortunately, I can't find the date of that re-release.) However, I'm submitting some additional info, in hopes of further helping folk find copies of this glorious music. It seems the album was originally released, in 1950, as "The Gift of Peace." And as mentioned in my first message, the tracks are in a slightly different order than in the video, but the music, itself, is still the same. So now you have TWO (USA) titles from which to search for this album.

These are hymns i was brought up on in the Nazarene Church and we sing them today! My mom played the piano and organ there until her passing. She loved to play medleys for the offeratory! There was always a prelude and offeratory and the Doxology was sung at the end of the service often. I contemplate the words of these hymns as I listen, what meaning!

I remember back in the early 1970s, when choirs still existed and before drum sets replaced the organ, churches used to be where you could hear this music.

The names of these videos are the names written under the videos, as I see some people want to know the names. The headings you see are the names of the videos, CDs or whatever.

Someone PLEASE tell me the name of the hymn that comes right after Fairest Lord Jesus - sounds like a french horn. It touches my heart. Anyone know?

The first hymn is that same national hymn for the land of Finland: Sibelius used it for his magnificent work Finlandia. The hymn "Beautiful Savior" was one of the first hymns that moved me emotionally as a small boy in a Christ-centered church in Columbus, Ohio, almost 70 years ago. So many churches today don't sing these profoundly spiritual hymns today in favor of gospel radio music or "Christian rock." How sad, how jaded. Churches need to return to Jesus, His Word and the glorious hymns of the Church. I really find these orchestrations are very soothing and beautiful. Thank you for this wonderful recording!
