Connemara MUST See Castle
Kylemore Abbey set in the Connemara Mountains in County Galway is a beautiful picturesque place to visit. Learn about the history and take in all the gorgeous views.
Tour the restored rooms and multi-media Abbey experience, Victorian Walled Garden, Neo-Gothic Church & Mausoleum, and Kylemore Woodlands Trails & Tales.
Built by Mitchel Henry for his beloved wife Margaret and soon their 9 children. Occupied next by the Duke of Manchester and his wife, Duchess of Manchester, Helena Zimmerman and finally by the current owners, the Benedictine order of nuns since 1920.
This is a must see if you are in the Connemara National Park area in County Galway.
I would recommend staying at the Lough Inagh Lodge or Ballynahinch Castle.

I’m trying to acquire waterproof clothes before I go to Ireland!
@@Mak-Talon90 you will be happy to have the right clothing 😄
@ yes ma’am!
I’m going to Ireland for the first time in April of 2025! I’m going to turn 35 in Ireland. I’m a small town Nebraska guy, and have never been out of the country. I’ve been binge watching your videos, thank you!
@@Mak-Talon90 how exciting! You will love it 💚 Thank you so much for watching my videos! I'm glad they have been helpful 😄 Happy travels!
Wow!! You are my benchmark for packing! I am not a light packer and your video will be very helpful on how I can downsize the stuff I need to bring! Will plan to go to Ireland next June. This is a very good guide to just bring a backpack and carry-on luggage! Thank you for sharing! Love from the Philippines! ❤️
@wat3rm3lynn so glad you found my video helpful! It can be so hard to pack light, but you can do it!! You will fully appreciate packing less when you have to carry it all around with you. Much luck to you and enjoy your trip! 💚💚💚
Ireland homeland of my ancestors. A place where Heroes,Myths , And Legends are Born . A place where Mythology, Legends, Superstition, And History Collide. A place of Beauty, Elegance, And Natural Wonder. Sometimes we all are not raised in families of our choice or the religions we are all brought up in. Ive hsd my share of Encounters with Bad Irish people who persecuted me Racially and Politically in both the Catholic and Protestant faiths alike. Maybe because theywete brought up in abusive and bad families who bad upbrinings and bsd wiring who bring their Hstred And Religious Grudge Matches here to the United States unlawfully. . I am a mixed heritage person adopted at 5 years old and brought up as Catholic but not by free choice. . I dont wish to ever believe that all irish people are bad people just because they have their bad apples . I am well aware of the ongoing conflicts surrounding the Catholics and Protestants for Centuries. I cannot and will not Tolerate the Hate anymore or ever again . I Not coming to ireland to be involved in anyone's international conflicts or Religious Grudge Matches. Im ciming to ireland to discover my family history culture legacy and heritage and Traditions. I want to know my people and the towns there in peace without Judgment, Fear, Hate, And Prejudice. Us people of ireland need to set ourselves to higher standards to be a Loving and Caring And Compassionate Communities to ensure the safeties of those that come there. I want to come there to find a place to oneday call, HOME. I hope the people of ireland understand that someday too.
Small world. I’m Irish and lived in Mankato in MN for a few years before moving back to Ireland. I sure don’t miss the MN winters and the dry winter air with getting electric shocks all the time.
@northernsegageorge6510 that's awesome! The winters here in Minnesota can be brutal. Makes us appreciate spring, summer and fall more 😄
It’s Friday night and I’m Irish and sat here in Ireland watching this wondering what I would take. Our weather is highly unpredictable and yes can be sunny then 15 minutes later a downpour then sunny again. It’s Baltic in our winters. Cold and damp.
@northernsegageorge6510 Happy Friday night! Thank you for watching and for your insight! 🌧🌤❄️☀️
Maybe try wool pajamas next time. I bring just one set. Wool does not absorb stuff so they don't get stinky. Saves a bunch of room. (My usual brand is WoolX but there are others, too.) Same with the t-shirts - you can save more room by wearing thin wool t-shirts. I bring three versus the six you brought.
@Jsfrog ooohhhh, great idea! I'll have to try wool pajamas 😄💚 I've thought about bringing wool t-shirts but they are a little more itchy than I prefer. Maybe I just haven't gotten the right brand?
@@andreabernhardt Neat! I should have said - I think the key is getting Merino wool, which is not itchy at all. The PJs and t-shirts are super comfortable and nice against your skin.
@@Jsfrog I'll have to try different merino wool brands 😊
@@andreabernhardt I must admit I've only tried the Woolx brand for most clothing, which I really like, but I have no idea if other brands are as good (and not itchy). Woolx is pricey, but they have constant sales which help, plus you don't have to buy as many of their garments for traveling as you don't have to wash them anywhere near as much as regular non-wool clothing. For socks, though, my favorite thus far are Darn Tough socks out of Vermont, also pricey but good and you don't have to bring as many wool socks on a trip as regular ones. Like for an upcoming five week trip next year I'll be bringing four pairs of socks. And I do plan to do laundry at a few spots, but I may wash the wool stuff only 1-2 times, if that, during the whole trip. If I'm not doing the laundry myself, I have to make sure whatever laundries wash the wool in cold water to prevent any shrinking.
@Jsfrog good to know, thanks! You totally get what you pay for. Sometimes it's better to pay a little more and get a high quality product! I'll have to check out Woolx. I've heard that about darn tough socks too.
Thank you! This was very helpful. We are going to Ireland in January and the suggestion to get fleece lined leggings was great.
@MicheleLaughlin Glad you found it helpful! I love fleece lined leggings, they are so cozy and warm! 💚 Have a great trip!!!

Where did you get your camera case, or what brand?
I got it on Amazon and the brand is Bagsmart but they don't make the exact model anymore. I've also used this one which is the same size and similar style: amzn.to/49bl5zD
What brand is that duffle bag?
It's called expandables by totes. It's pretty old and I don't think they make it anymore unfortunately. You can find something similar on amazon like this: amzn.to/4i4h8ko
Love this! Great video with super helpful and fun content!🙌💙
@amy_unfiltered thank you! I'm glad you liked it and found it helpful 💚💚💚
Did you do laundry there? I’ll be going the end of May…it seems it was all vert casual..legging were acceptable?
@debbieghalib I did not do laundry, but you can easily do laundry there if needed. Yes, very casual. You could pack one nicer outfit. I did feel like dressing a little nicer at the castle hotels but it's not necessary. Leggings are great and if you pair them with a nice shirt you are golden 😀

Yes, make sure you pick warm layers. More long sleeve than tees probably. I would bring a scarf and warm gloves for sure. Wool socks and clothes will be important. Is that a check to baggage question mark we're going to double in for 5 days in January? Were the shoes actually comfortable for walking ten thousand to twenty thousand steps?
We did check 1 bag each. I used a carry-on size luggage so I could have carried it on or checked it. Much easier to lug around a smaller suitcase, especially if there's no lift where we are staying. Yes, the shoes were very comfortable for a lot of walking. I'm glad I had 2 different kinds to switch back and forth.
@@andreabernhardt Thanks, we're checking 1 large bag each and we have a rolling carryon each. We're not light packers, I take my pillow and a blanket. LOL. We normally take 3 large suitcases since I have an airline credit card and can take 2 checked each. However, we're going to be gone for 3 weeks and we're taking a train from Paris to Amsterdam and a flight from Amsterdam to Dublin and then Dublin to London. I saw that jacket at Costco for 35.00. I'm waiting for them to reduce the price after Xmas.
@@Randilynn66 I can totally understand you bringing a blanket and pillow. You are very brave to bring all that luggage with you! Hopefully you are staying in one hotel for each location. That's where it gets difficult when you have to lug them around everywhere. I also like the vest that comes with the jacket. That would be nice for you in January. I took it out when I went cause I didn't need it. Hope you can get it on sale :)
As someone who is extremely unorganized I am very thankful for this video ❤
@esviviarce5675 I'm glad it was helpful! 💚
Very helpful and appreciated do you have any tips for Scotland or London? Or suggestions on boots or coat waterproof?
@coricurran6935 Glad you found my video helpful. I have not been to Scotland. I did London in a day. Lots to see there and I would get a pass for their underground transportation system so you can get around easier. London kind of reminded me of New York. new to rain pants...do they fit over your pants? so buy a size up?
You wear them over your pants. I usually wear size medium, and that's the size I got, and they fit great. These are the ones I have: amzn.to/401ifL9 I like to wear leggings under mine so I didn't have to size up. Depending on what you plan to wear under them, it could make a difference.

Could you please advise on car rental? Who do you use? How hard is it to know how much toll you have to pay and where? Finally, will my American Express car rental insurance take care of the car rental? If you could, please reply. We’d really appreciate it!! That’s where we’re stuck, we leave for Dublin 9/29/24. There is a thing calle the internet where all your questions can be answered. Loads of vids on youtube. It's cheaper to ret a stick shift and even cheaper if you rent you car in NI. if you mostly want to see the West you do NOT have to fly into Dublin - cheaper to fly to Shannon and save a day. Another question... We are traveling to Ireland next month and thinking about taking a cab from the airport to Dublin to stay for two nights. After that, we'll rent a car and start the driving portion of the trip. My question is - do you have a favorite hotel in Dublin to stay where everything is walkable for the first few days? Thanks for your great packing ideas and itinerary suggestions - and your photos are lovely!
I don't usually stay in Dublin. When we did, we stayed at Jury's Inn but that was in 2007 so not sure about now. It was right next to Christ Church. I would look at a map of Dublin and find something centrally located to where you want to go and look at the reviews online. I'm so glad you liked my video and I hope you have a fabulous trip!!!

You are very welcome! Thank you so much for your kind words!! I hope you have a fabulous trip!!!
I loved your video today. I just saw it and found out yesterday that I am going to Ireland with a friend and I had no idea what to do. A couple of questions/concerns: we are going Dec. 25 thru Jan. 4. Any suggestions? I have a CPAP machine that I have to take and not sure where to put it. I usually travel with a large leather tote bag where I put some of the things you are putting in the backpack. I guess I need to ditch the tote for a backpack. We are going to stay in an airbnb In Western Ireland and will be travelling primarily in that area. Thanks for your information and input.
I'm glad you found the video helpful! It will be colder that time of year so bring warm layers. I loved going around Christmas time! We were there at the beginning of December and everything was so beautifully decorated for Christmas! I would definitely recommend a backpack or a rolling bag but if you are only staying in one place it will be easier for you to travel with different types of bags. I prefer having my hands free and using a backpack. Not sure how big your CPAP is but I believe they are considered medical devices and you can take them with you as a carry-on which doesn't count as one of your carry-on allowances. Double check with the airline you are traveling on. It's up to you if you want to keep it separate or put it in your carry-on for ease of carrying less things. I'm guessing there are some videos or blogs that talk about traveling with a CPAP that you may want to check out. Western Ireland is so beautiful and I know you will LOVE Ireland! Make sure you check out my first time to Ireland video and my must see places in Ireland. Enjoy your trip :)
Do you have a favorite map of Ireland?
