Welcome to Life On Helton Creek Farm!
Located in Middle Tennessee, we raise beef, grow hay, garden flowers and food, play with grandkids and all sorts of other "projects" big and small. Faith, family and grandkids are #1 around here (and cows, I really love cows).
We have a mixed herd of Mama cows and a Limousin bull named MICK. Also hanging out with us is a worthless Jersey steer named Chili Bean and a pizza loving hog named Bacon and we love them both!
We raise beef for our family and we sell a few too. Knowing where our beef comes from, what it ate and how it lived is important to us.
There's a lotta life, learning, working and even a little playing on our farm. There's also a lot of dreaming on this farm.
We love to find new ways of doing things! If they work, great... if not, lesson learned and back to the drawing board!
I really hope you enjoy it here! We are having a blast sharing life with y'all!
Be blessed and remember... you're never alone!

A little worried about these calves being born in this heat!!
Wow! It's 100* and the humidity is 1000% or at least it feels that way! We called the girls (and boys) in for a treat and they loved it! We've also started feeding a little HAY in July!!! It's crazy! While we did finally get a few showers a nice long, steady rain would sure be welcomed!! Hope y'all enjoy!

I have the same tractor I bought it new and I have had the same problems dirt daubers so I know what you have went through but it's a very great tractor.
Thanks for watching! We sure do love our Kubota! Glad you like yours too. Ours has been work horse!
You might want to use used guard rails inside instead of wood, just a thought, one and done
Nice idea!!! I'll share with Pa for sure! Thanks so much for watching and sharing your ideas! We really appreciate you!!
I like how your Horse does'nt mind hanging out with the Cows.
@@marymayor66 ha!!! He thinks he is a cow!! lol
That blonde cow in front of Strawberry acts like a right front foot or leg isn't right
That’s Chili Bean. He’s a big ole Jersey steer. He has some hip issues sometimes. Plus he’s just a big ole boy… we got him when he was 2 or 3 days old…!
Thanks for sharing this video with us. I hope they will be ok. Have a blessed day
Thank you so much for watching! So far we've been blessed! They are doing pretty good.
Oh my goodness the cows playing in the hay ..my brothers cows do that also hehe ..
LOL! I love watching them! They love to play! Thank you so much for watching!!!
@@LifeonHeltonCreekFarm really no problem..your videos relax me so much
Their beautiful!
Aw!! Thank you!!
You just saved me over $200 for a new fuel pump. Thanks from Arkansas.
Wahooooo! We love hearing that!! Very happy for you! Thanks so much for watching!! Hope you hang out with us!!
Is the straw collected in the Fall? how do you get the greener Hay?
what we have here is hay or mixed grasses. Straw is different. When we cut this it was green but as it cures ( dries out) it changes color.
I wouldn't mind a field that makes that many roles, but I do all my hay by myself so no thank you. Enjoyed your video keep up the good work and take care of yourself
Yeah, I understand the all by yourself. Bless your heart!! It's hard! We have 2 sons but both have jobs that don't allow them to help as much as they would like. I do help cut and rake some but I wasn't able to help as much this year so Pa did a lot of cutting, raking and rolling by himself... farming sure ain't easy! Hey, thanks so much for watching and commenting!! I sure do appreciate you!!
From my experience can I suggest you air spray all the dust off your equipment as often as reasonably possible! When all that dust accumulates all it takes is a spark or a hot bearing to start a fast fire 🔥 🔥🔥🧯🚒
Yes! You may suggest that for sure! We actually do blow it off with a leave blower! lol Yes! Really! A leaf blower. It works great! This just happened to be near the end of rolling in this field after the alternator on the tractor went out. You know those "in field repair" times are so fun, right?? whew!! Unfortunately, we have the "woooo woooo" experience. Those bearings get hot and man oh man, they catch and burn quick! We lost a Case ih roller that way. So now we blow it off and have a huge fire extinguisher attached to the baler! Thank you so much for your suggestion! We sure appreciate you watching and talking to us!
That field looked awesome with all those rolls in it.
Thanks Jerry! It was a beautiful sight for sure! We were a little surprised! Doesn't look like we'll be getting that much on the second cutting unless we get some RAIN... it's so dry! Thanks so much for watching!!!
@LifeonHeltonCreekFarm Yes, it is very dry. Our second cutting is going to be pitiful, I'm afraid.
@@jerrylawrence5572 If we don't get some rain soon, there won't be a second cutting.
@@LifeonHeltonCreekFarm You're right.
Awesome video looking forward to seeing that thing in the field sure do love your videos happy late 4th of July I hope you all have fun and was safe looking forward to seeing more saying hi from Utah your biggest fan take care God bless
wow! Thank you so very much for the kindness!! The encouragement is so appreciated!!! Got lots of stuff coming up! Stay tuned!!
I bought a KMC 4760 used & I really like your video showing how you hooked yours up. How much did you adjust the top link ? I had to adjust the playback speed so I could slow down the video so I could watch it easier. There is know one around me that has one and support is nil from KMC on the technical aspects of hooking one up. Again thanks for the video and please post another one on your channel of what you have learned.
I am so sorry it took so long to get back to you!! We will certainly post an updated review soon! We adjusted the top link to set the pitch of his blade. He just set it down and adjusted the top link 'till he was happy with the pitch (level) of the cutter bar. He likes to leave about 3 inches of "stubble" or cut grass. He puts the toe of his boot under the blade for measurement. I sure hope that helps but if not please do not hesitate to let us know...
I might try this at home. What did you do or use the storage tank for
It had worked well for ours and it was a fairly easy project! Let me know how it goes! Thanks so much for watching!!
It was food grade glue I think... We just washed it out. Check around on market place maybe.
We have 3 bought as hydraulic units, but with the Krone 320 Easy -cut mowers they were not needed so we removed them and replaced with the solid mount brackets 2 less hydraulic lines to plug up............ Being as we grew peanuts we were farmiluar with KMC Equipment... All the Mower Tractors are GPS Auto-Steered.... and can laydown about 100 acres in about 5 hrs.... We supply TSC stores with small squares, rebaled from our 4x5 rounds stored on site..... So our hay operation is 24/7/365...
Wow!! That's pretty cool! It's hard to find anybody to pick up square hay around here... Pa has been wanting a rebaler! We do have lots of people who want a few bales here and there so a rebaler would be kinda cool... just not in the budget right now! Thank you so much for watching!
He wanted me to let you know that he got the lift because it was on Ag enhancement and they paid for 1/2. He also got the solid mounts in case he wanted to get a Krone mower in the future!
I have always wanted to live on a Farm, it's interesting to see how one operates.
You can come stay at mine any time you want!!! Thanks for watching!!
@@LifeonHeltonCreekFarm Thank you!
Hay season is a love and hate thing for us. Love it when everything goes well and hate it when mechanical failures happen.
Yep! It can be for us too. Kent had to put an alternator in the tractor while in the field! lol It's always something, right?? Thanks for watching!!
You're right. It is always something.
@@jerrylawrence5572 yes sir!!!

Well, thank you for watching @philmccoy2808! You are too kind! I appreciate your kind words!
I thought you were like them.
Nice stand of grass. It’s definitely been hydrated lol. Beautiful scenery too, I love going up the hill out back and looking at the fields and hills around us. Sometimes I can just sit there on the four wheeler and find peace when my mind gets heavy.
Thank you! One of the best stands of hay we've had in a long time! It's thick for sure!! I love the scenery too! The hills and the green trees and all!! Thank you for watching!
Nopalas
I had to look it up! There are some great sounding recipes out there!! Thank you for watching!!
@@LifeonHeltonCreekFarm there are many ways to incorporate Nopales into one's diet. I like the pickled kind. My mom used to make jelly out of the fruit.
@@georgeoothoudt7358 I saw a jelly recipe! I told Pa we may just have to cook some and try them out!
This is where the beaver dam was!
Ciccadas are annoying, the Cows don't seem to mind.
You are right! Very annoying to people but not so much to the animals. ha! Thank you for watching!!
I love the Cows looking at the camera while your talking, so cute! How long will the Ciccadas stay?
These calves are so nosey!! ha! I've read they are only here 3-6 weeks.. but it feels like they've been longer than that already... lol.
Proud of you for facing your fears. Nervous as a cat in a room full of rocking chairs, but you did it.
Yes, sir! I still can't mow the lawn though... LOL!!! Thanks for watching!!
Don't apologize! I was just surprised you were so creeped out by them.
LOL! Thank you! You were not alone in your surprise!! I was a little surprised myself! Thanks for watching!!
thanks for showing the bleeder valve! I have an open cab m8200 that I love
Yay! Hope we helped! I love our Kubota for sure! Thanks for watching!!
UNBELIEVABLE.
Yep! They sure are loud! All the grandkids are really loving catching them and wearing them! Thanks for watching!!
They're awesome! You're fortunate
Thank you for watching! Glad you enjoyed seeing them.
I guess you wouldn’t wanna watch the channels that advise you had to eat them….ick!
uhm, nope! lol I did watch a local channel that had people eating chocolate covered cidadas. They'll just have to keep their "high protein" snack. They can have my portion! lol
That’s probably what they look like when they come out of their shells? I’m not really sure I’ve seen them before.
Yes, it is. They are white and then after they begin to dry, they darken... then they fly! I've learned a lot about Cicadas. ha! THANK YOU for watching!!! I appreciate it!
Harmless but gross, annoying and way too loud! Actually, they’re not harmless because they eat the foliage!
Yes! Yes to all of it! I am blessed they are not in my garden! Thank you so much for watching!!
Looks like it's never a dull moment at the Farm. I'd love to have one.
No many dull moments around here. In fact, sometimes I miss getting video of what's going on because it all happens so fast!! Thank you for watching!!
Grait bait for fishing
That's what everyone around here says.. I just say they can get PLENTY around my yard and farm for FREE!!!! Fishing aughta be reeeeeal good around here. Thanks for watching and commenting!
You can pick them up and put them on you. They are TOTALLY harmless. U r dressed up like it's African bees😂🤣😂🤣😂
hahahahaa... yep! I know, I know... I just can't stand them or their creepy little legs and eyes and huge wings... after about 5 or 6 times of them smashing in my face... I was done!!! lol Thanks for watching!!!
Flew in her mouth? May be God’s way telling her she talks too much. LOL
You're probably right!! THANKS FOR WATCHING!!
You need meds and counseling. 🤷♀️ You make me nervous. Not the insects. You. Humans get on my last nerve.
Wow. Sorry I make you nervous. Meds AND counceling... you could be right! It was mostly all in fun! Thanks for watching??!
COMEON THEY ARE TOTALLY HARMELESS - MOVE TO THE CITY
yeah, I know they don't sting or bite. I know they are 'harmless" and all the things. BUT, they are creepy huge flying critters that crash into your face, land on you, pile up where you least need them like when you're trying to feed... when you're cruising on the tractor or the side by side and they crash into your face ... you will know it!! They also get stuck in your hair! Yep! They land and drown in your animals water which has to be cleaned out..... yeah, they are a lot. Hey but THANK YOU FOR WATCHING!!! I appreciate your comment!!
and why in the world would I ever want to move?? LOL LOVE where I am... And this is where I will die. Cicadas and all!
seriously they are doggy delicassy they are harmless
Diffenately doggy delicassy!! And my birds are so fat around here and I think their baby birds are actually stronger and healthier too!!! Like I told another person, I realize they will not bite nor do they sting but I still do not like them. They are creeeeepy!! From Hatch to death they are creeepy! LOL THANK YOU FOR WATCHING!!!!
they are infested with a fungus that carries psylocibin--- let your dogs eat them and get happy
This comment sent me down a rabbit hole! ha! I had to find out exactly what it was and it's like magic mushrooms! COOL! My Rowdy-doodle doesn't really like them but my nieghbors dogs love them and spend a lot of time at my house! They can have them all! THANKS so much for watching!!! I learned something new!!
As a kid here in Florida I would tie thread to cicadas and they would fly in circles around me. They don't bite and are harmless. Their shells are so cool too.
We've done that with June Bugs and my husband catches wood bees (with the white dot on their head). There's just something about these things... Now, I do think the shells are kinda cool cause they will stick to you clothes like a broach! I wore one to church on my dress when I was a kid and my Sunday School teacher made me take it outside... hahahaha! THANK YOU FOR WATCHING!!!
I'm here in NW Louisiana and I haven't seen any yet. Where are you located at?
I'm in Middle Tennessee. 60 miles east of Nashville.
He just came out of his shell holy crap and you caught that on camera amazing 😂❤ one got in my car once and I nearly wrecked my brand new car when it started to make its noise lmao I was running around my car jumping and screaming and the sherriff didn’t even stop to see if I was ok lol❤
Crazy right??? LOL That is exactly what I would do if one was in my car... they can be very loud for sure and if he's got some friends with him it can be deafening! I'm glad you're ok and did not have a wreck. You probably live in a small town like we do if the Sherriff didn't even stop to check on you! THANK YOU FOR WATCHING!!! I hope you subscribe!
Will they hurt you?
Harmless
Only if you crash into something or trip while RUNNING away from them... otherwise they are harmless. I'm just a little bit afraid of them. They look creepy and they FEEL creepy when they land on you and crawl... mercy!! They sure do get your attention when they crash in to your face and hair! Normally I'm pretty tough against critters but these things are just ick... maybe 'cause there's so many of them??? I don't know. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR WATCHING!!!!
Why does # 33 have her fly tag in backwards?
Hmmm, I'm not sure! I'll have to ask the boss! Thanks for watching!!! 🤠🐄
Those white ones just came out and haven't dried yet. Those aren't gonna hurt you. Lol
I figured that out after seeing them all over everywhere (eeeww)! Those are NOT pretty babies... hahaha! I know they don't bite or sting but they do cause me to run, dodge and dart and crash! LOL Thank you for watching!!!
