Sometimes, parents must discipline children to help them in their discipleship. Why do we provide this kind of discipline? Because we love them! Our parental love leads us to administer some unpleasant discipline at times to help them grow in godliness. In our study of Jonah 1 this week, we will see that God disciplined Jonah because He loved him.
If you are facing discipline today, recognize it as God's love for you and respond in obedience (Bible Expositor and Illuminator Union Gospel Press, Fall Quarter 2024).
