For Kasey, restoration of old homes is like tracing past ancestorial maps of families long gone and in a way, it brings their stories back to life.
Relying on her expertise in construction and renovation, Kasey Stone has worked on historic properties throughout North Carolina, including countless projects in the state’s largest historic district located in Washington NC. The Hyatt House is Kasey’s biggest restoration project. The Hyatt House is the 2nd oldest house in Washington and was built in 1785 and has been vacant since 1967 except for the ghost that lives on the third floor.
Principal of Clerestory Design a full-service Interior Design firm serving Eastern North Carolina and beyond, Kasey holds a degree in Architecture from NC State and a degree in Interior Architecture from UNC-Greensboro. She is also a licensed General Contractor with a specialty in historic renovation and restoration.

Thank you so much. We do love hosting family and friends at the Boat House. It was time for some TLC.
This has been a WONDERFUL series showcasing your talent! Great job! And I’m certain those guests enjoyed every moment spent there! Looking forward to watching your next project!
Looks good. What was ther final height of the rail and Posts? 24" 30"? just curious.
Can't wait to see what it will look like when finished!
Love those countertops.... can't wait to actually see them in person!! - Happy Homeowner (thanks Kasey!!)

Best idea EVER!!
The art nouveau paper looks like clown heads from a distance. The blue fleur de le is beautiful.
No. They are looking forward to moving to Washington.
Are the homeowners planning on selling after the renovation is complete?
Did the detached garage get preliminary approval?
Yes it did. Thanks for asking.
Best of luck on the request.
My brother and his wife are restoring the Mizpah on Market St. It's a true revival happening in Washington!
Hi Kasey, It is good to see that the house is done and you did a BEAUTIFUL job! If you are still interested, I would still love to investigate it. I hope you and your father are doing well and look forward to seeing you. 😊
OMG! Beautiful!
Thank you!
Such a beautiful home! I have been watching this journey from the very beginning and have really enjoyed it!
Thank you for watching.
Love to see this transformation. Will you be showing before-after layout diagrams - would love to see the changes made to the layout (if I remember correctly, you closed off a hallway on the 2nd, right?). That 3rd floor - what a difference!!
We added back some original walls that were removed along the way and added some walls on the 3rd floor. That’s a good idea for a future video.
Yay!!! So fabulous! I love before and after transformation and this is so incredible to see side by side after your long journey of restoring this beauty. It’s hard to pick a favorite but that third floor and the kitchen 😍😍
Those are my favorite spaces as well. I love that the 3rd floor is a surprise at the top.
You should ask paranormal investigator CJ Fasion. He has a UA-cam channel so he can investigate
Has this house been sold?
Not yet. It just hit the market this week.
Are you going to have an open house for local folks and interested buyers?
Amazing
Amazing! I LOVE IT❣️
Looks great!
Looking fantastic! Love that little closet.
Thank you. It’s so exciting to see it all coming together
OMG, I LOVE IT!! So mush has happened since I was last there! Keep up the beautiful work! ❤
Thank you. It is really coming together
Tile looks amazing!
Thank you so much. I’m very pleased with how it turned out.
Is this house located on Main Street ?
No. It’s on water street.
@clerestorydesign3417 Ok, thank you !
This is awesome,. We are a Paranormal channel and are based out of Bath, NC. Love learning of the local ghost as well as abroad. But I have away love the storys from the Hyatt house in Washington. Love that your keeping this older stories alive.
Thank you so much. It has been such a fun and rewarding project.
I love the oyster tile in the main bathroom shower!

Everything is looking good!
Thank you. It’s so fun seeing it all come together
Looking good!
Thank you. It is exciting to see it all come together. Thanks for watching.
Love that you moved the kitchen to the front sucks about that corner cabinet. What are you doing under the bottom corner cabinet between the sink and fridge?! These old houses are so limited on storage and closets so I like seeing what you do!
Kitchen looks amazing by the way love the color of the cabinets and trim!
Thank you! Unfortunately that is a dead corner beside the fridge. I tried to come up with a way to use it but you just can not access it.
Cabinets are looking good!
Happy New Year's Day!
Floors are looking great!
Thanks. I am delighted with how they turned out.
Those floors! Gorgeous!
Thanks. They turned out even better than I expected. Thanks for watching.
Love the floors! They did a really good job of blending the color variations.
Thanks for always watching. I hope you have a wonderful New Years.

Beautiful floors! I wonder if you could darken just the newer repaired pieced in flooring boards to match the older ones? Really looking good!
Not really. We are just going to even it out a bit with the stain. I am ok if the history and use of the floors shows. Thanks for watching.
Handrail and painting looks great!
Thanks for watching.
I really can't wait to see the finished product!
Thank you. We are getting closer every day.
Trim and painting is looking good!
Doors and trim are looking good!
You have the patience of Job, Kasey Girl. My nerves go off the charts just watching your recap of the work that has been completed along with the explanation of how you manage to properly work around issues. I am amazed at your progress. Your Grandaddy Ed would be so proud of your perfection in doing this HUGE painstaking job. Each time I watch, I think about how beautiful it’s going to be and the hundreds of years that it will last into the future. ❤️
Thank you! I wish he was here to give me some advice. I am lucky that I get to something that I LOVE!
The trim around the doors, windows and baseboards is looking good! Definitely match the trim in the same rooms but most folks won't notice the different trim in different rooms. Can you remove the plaster around the fireplace and expose the brick? If it looks good you might not need to tile. I think it is a good decision to cover the brick on the other fireplace. I never like wallpaper in a wet room because it starts to peel from the moisture over time. The fancier trim would look better around doors, windows and baseboard on the top floor. Interesting that the chair rail is different in the hall on opposite walls. How did that pass your eye for detail?
Thanks for always watching. We are concerned about what condition the brick will be in as that was also added so we are going to try to save the plaster. Check out this week's video as we work on this a little more.
Are the chimneys functional?
Yes! We will have someone check them out before we install gas logs but I believe they are fictional
