Bunker problems ep24 #secrettunnel #construction #bunker #diy
While digging out the tunnel I have come across a really crappy problem. I need to sort out a plan to fix the issue before the bunker can continue. Plenty more digging getting done and soil coming out of the hole.
Thanks heaps for all of the support you have all been giving me.

Learned something new. i had assumed it was an oil solvent needed
Cool, looking good!
So I have to say, you’re at the point here you should shore up the walls. Especially with crossing a sewer pipe. If even 6” of a wall or ceiling come off and pin you it could really hurt or kill you. The project is great! But it needs shored, dirt is no joke!
OMG come on, stop "gas bagging" and focus. 6 months and only 4 meters, it's going to be YEARS at this rate. Gezzz
Sorry to say mate but you are spot on it is a lot of work. If only I could dig as much as I talk.
Have you got a one off PayPal payment or something similar.? I couldn't afford much unfortunately but I'd be happy to make a donation. Your upbeat attitude honestly inspires me.
watching and commenting on my videos is worth way more mate. I am truly appreciative of your kind offer. I really like that I can inspire you.
Wonder what went wrong with the jham. Brushes wore out? Faulty switch (always....)? Or fuse went - they often go when you start/stop due to the induction.
It is super old so may be any of these issues you mentioned. I has certainly paid for itself.
I like the idea of a small crawlspace going into a secret room. Just a little crazy room.
I mean, you can always go deeper?
Very true. It may be a sign to change direction.
wish you could shove a digger in there.
Good to see you still cracken on.
I try
Digging like this is really hard, but you make it look easy. I think you said that was clay and it does look like clay, but I am so impressed with how you’re able to make it so uniform and clean looking. Can’t wait to see more progress.
Digging is hard yakka mate. It is mainly clay, I am really happy you are enjoying the videos.
I am unable to watch these, I really want to because I really enjoyed the colin furze videos. Unfortunately I get motion sick and your camera is moving around too much. If you are able to use a tripod for most things that will help, also if you had a camera that has a really good image stabilization for times when you are holding the camera. (Electronic image stabilization) I believe there is software that can do this type of stabilization too, but im not sure how effective it is, it might require recording in a higher resolution to accommodate some cropping of the image.
Sorry it was making you feel sick mate that must suck. I am using a gimble now in my more recent videos. I have to agree tough, these first ones are really rough. In the second and third video I apologise to all those who get motion sick for all the looking around. Thanks heaps for the info on making it better and I will try to make more watchable content. cheers mate.
Love your vids mate. Cheers from Mid north coast.
Thanks mrwhompass for letting me know, it means a lot.
That's a nice rain water setup mate. The water tank design is cool.
You might be able to add something like this to your setup. Once you reach the bottom of the shaft and start tunnelling. You will start to get some clean water in the sump.
Drill hole saw would be like the glue brush, only more expensive loss😢.looking great!ducks are cute!, yall have them for meat & eggs?
I have had it happen before it is a nightmare to retrieve 😓 We keep the ducks for eggs. Would love to have enough land though to breed chickens for meat.
Awesome. I do everything barefoot.
Enjoy watching your videos. Nick from tasmania
Thanks heaps Nick.
Nice update. It's always a lot of work and stuffing around working with water. Cute ducklings too.
Thanks heaps Ralph, your comments are always much appreciated. I will put put an update on patreon later on.
Just a suggestion, try anchor bolts when attaching shoring to concrete as they are much easier to remove later and are strong as all buggery.
Thanks for the tip mate, I will give them a go.
If one of the chickens is called lunch, is the other one called dinner?
Had the whole trio breakfast, lunch and dinner. The white one is YT. Lunch is the sole survivor.
Lookin great!, when you dropped the brush i felt the frustration!, when the water started spraying couldn't help but to laugh, what else can you do in those situations!, I've been there countless times myself 😂
You are spot on, the only thing you can do is laugh. The worst part in it all was that the brush was also the lid for the brand new pot of glue.🙄
@@BackyardBunkerBuilder yep, that's exactly what I was thinking, as it fell.!lunch baggy and rubber band !
Love the dog Dale. Looks like a good boy.
Good hit getting that water tank. We have three 55gal barrels plumbed into the main gutter down pipe and we use that to water the allotment and wash the car and so on. Here in the UK ( I live in SE London) we are on water meters. brings the bill down quite a bit....
We always used to laugh about paying to use a toilet. With the water charges we all cop now we are lol.😢
One of the tricks to save water is to put a house brick in the toilet cistern so it use's one brick volume of water per flush and also to pack it in the washing machine, more clothes per cycle. Makes sense when you think about it. love the bunker....
Looks like a bit of a rough day. Hang in there. Love to see the progress.
Cheers mate, the trials of a big project.
Awww bloody hell, that's a classic. I have bunker water tank envy 😊 I had ducks like that once, I was told they're rouen ducks.
Rouen ducks?
@@BackyardBunkerBuilder yeh, the breed.
Enjoy watching the progress of this build. Hi from Perth
Thanks Adrian, great to hear from a fellow Aussie.
Perfect! I was just about to start foaming at the mouth in anticipation for the next episode 😂
Glad I could save you. lol saved by the bell.
@@BackyardBunkerBuilder Sir, your improvised eye bolt idea was super clever
love the intro
Thanks mate.
It's a shore thing !! Love your work.
Cheers Ralph
I had not heard from you in a while, glad to see your OK and work continues on the bunker. Taking shape quite well. thanks for posting....
This is not a quick job. Wish I had picked something easier to make videos about. Wouldn't be worth doing though of it wasn't hard.
That was amazing video clip you put together there it was great to watch it there an are you going to be putting in are cement wall in on the sides air once you have finished their and keep up the good work there 👍👍
Thanks Mick, will be concrete all the way around.
Ok that will be good to see that there 👍👍
good to see the work continue!
lots to go mate.
I thought you were going to grind the concrete. In the video you are washing off the top layer. Doesn't that ruin the concrete? ❤
@@terminator_t404 No mate this in Australia is called exposed. This is a form of decorative concrete that is generally utilised for paths and driveways. If it was indoors it would be fantastic polished. The ground and polished stuff is to slippery when wet without sealers and non slip additives. When you pour this mud you wait until the concrete would be ready for a second hit with the trowel. Firm enough to walk on and add the sugar water to the top layer. Sugar stops the top slurry from seting allowing you to just wash of a fine layer, leaving the top stones encapsulated in the concrete.
Watching from Barnsley in the UK 😊😊
How are you guys going over there in the UK. I have heard that things are getting heated.
You're back! My god I've missed this channel, I had been watching the original channel from the very start. I sent an email requesting to join the other one but didn't hear back from you. I was watching subterranean Ralph and recognised your channel profile picture 😂😂
Hey mate you can find all my videos over on Rumble just look up Dale Digs Downunder. I have all of my old content up there and all of the stuff never seen here.
@@BackyardBunkerBuilder Brilliant thank you!!
@@BackyardBunkerBuilder Wondering why you switched over to this Rumble? first i've heard of it. Gone and found your channel, looking forward to catching up with the rest of the progress!
You need to form up the walls of and pour concrete walls in order to waterproof the bunker. Otherwise you’re going to keep fighting the water seeping into your bunker, which will lead to mold building up and causing dangerous health problems to you and your family. Sand will not waterproof the bunker, it will eventually wash itself out and cause the walls to cave in on you. So please rethink your project. Safety first. All of the water you’re pumping out into the yard, is seeping right back into your bunker. Water always takes the path of least resistance. Which means, the clay layer that you’re digging out is allowing the water to flow and seep right back into your bunker. You’re going to keep fighting a no win situation with the water. You need at least 8” (20 cm) of wall thickness of concrete with rebar reinforcement to safely stabilize the walls.
Thanks for taking the time to give me all f these tips and advice it is much appreciated.
I’d be checking that quartz for traces of gold. You might be on a gold vein.
I will have to figure out a way to check it.
It seems Colin Furze has inspired you, keep up the good work and stay safe, don’t want a cave in
Turbo conquering mega eagle is a huge inspiration too. Furze and all the other diggers are all awesome.
@@BackyardBunkerBuilder Thanks for the thread, i am going to check that channel out. Like the tank project. Is it full yet?....
I love your videos👍🏻🇺🇸
Thanks dannmann.
It looks like you are getting some were now an how much more do you have to go on the other end there an keep up the amazing video clip there 👍👍
Cheers Mick, I have quite a lot of work still to go. This won't happen quickly, though it would be nice if it did.

Mississippi, what an iconic place.
Please show bigger picture of what and how you are doing, hard to understand when I see tiny areas
I will try and get a wider view of it all for you.
@@BackyardBunkerBuilder thank you, lots of hard work, you have come a long way!
Loving the content Dale. Which part of Australia are you in?
no canaries on virgin island D:
I knew there would be some guy on the internet that would get a laugh out of that.
@@BackyardBunkerBuilder I think I've actually heard this one before, a long long ago. Maybe even by AvE. I like the family friendly way of covering up the joke though, THAT's what got me :D
How do we go about getting our name on a bucket?
I have a patreon page under Dale digs downunder if you would like to check it out.
Keeping it on the straight and narrow. You'll be trippen out, man, with all those trips to the dump.
Dam right Ralph I think I will be tripping so hard I will need rehab.
Definitely not deep enough. The over head could collapse with any weight.
I hope your not right, so far so good.
@@BackyardBunkerBuilder Love the Videos. It's just that ceiling looks too have no support. At least the soil is more solid But its not solid rock is it? 3-4ft 1-1.5m minimum from the surface would probably be ideal. I think even Colin Furze talks about that in a couple videos. If you are staying at your current depth I would recommend Cribbing every couple feet. Even rock tunnels have arched ceilings not flat. ❤
Totally agree with you, simple 4x4's in the corners for starters. looking good tho
I am so amazed at how much work you do. It looks like the soil is mostly clay now, or at least that’s what it looks like. I know in he early videos you shored up the side with some wood but I don’t see that now. Are you planning on putting up some kind of panels or supports to protect yourself from a cave in? Or maybe you had some testing done and the ground is really stable? I’m inspired to dig in my back yard but my yard has a lot of rocks. Also there was some people here in Hawaii who died recently because they were digging for a wall in their yard and it caved in. So I’m a bit nervous for myself and for you. Keep up the great work, I can’t wait to see what it looks like when it’s completed.
All of the walls will be supported as I make my way through. It is all clay at the bottom, really sticky when wet. That is really sad about the cave in. Don't worry about my safety If something happens it is fine, i would much prefer dieing doing something I love than not living life and dieing anyway.
I love the magical colors of the walls/floor of the dug walls. Something very.... Medieval castle-ish about them
It still has me feeling that it is magical every time I go down there.
