Love the shot of Tillamook Rock Lighthouse. This is probably the earliest it's been captured on film. Also love the scenes of Bonneville Dam. It had just been completed in 1936 so, it was essentially brand new.
Was that Multnomah Falls before the bridge was added?
It'll never catch on. ~EMI
Much better than it is now, though I would have loved Walt's Tomorrowland 1967.
Great rare footage.
Back when "da mob" ruled Vegas!
At least the casino odds were better.
Wow, where did you acquire this from? Was it acquired individually or part of a lot? Was it from a private seller or institution etc? Thanks!
Actually this one belonged to a family member who was a runner in oregon at the time. I am currently digitizing their collection as well as another runner from the time. Within the next week or so I will be uploading a few dozen meets/races in oregon from around 1970-1974
This is the Mt Hood CC Relays on April 20, 1974. The Oregon State JV's win the 4 x 880 Relay. The last race is Prefontaine running the two-mile!
Cool dress and cool dude :)
UPDATE! This footage is from a collection I found that's particularly excited me. About 25 reels of film from about 1940-1960, many of them contain footage of ww2 planes, specifically gliders. The collection belonged to a man named J.K. Hutchens. After some basic google research, I determined he was a stealth glider test pilot for the military during WW2. I also have footage of this plane towing gliders. An enthusiastic in a plane facebook group found the planes deployment details and confirmed it was primarily used for the glider development program! I have a lot more footage to upload. I'll try to do so soon!
Fine .
Back in the days when people used 8mm film like a snap shot camera. 🤦♂️. Movies are for movement, pics are for stills.
I’m not as versed as everyone else must be, what was the historical significance of this particular bomber?
Since nobody's going to answer, I'm going to guess and say that it's not significantly noteworthy. The owner of this film was going through his collection and when he saw a B-17 that had a name on it he was like "B-17 'Bouncing Betty' found on tape in 8mm "
@MoreFormosa Sorry for the late response! I wouldn't consider most things I digitize or post hugely significant on their own, but I enjoy saving media, I have A LOT to post. 👍👍👏👏
That looks like Pikes Peak in the background. Probably Colorado Springs Army Air Base (later Peterson AFB) around 1943?
I thought the same thing.
The airborne shot is 100% Lowry AFB Denver. Shots on the ground could very well be Peterson.
Wonder where Miss Barbara is now?
Probably was turned into other aluminum products a long time ago....unless it was shot down.
@@lonzo61 That one had no dorsal turret, so it was likely no longer used in combat. It looks like an "E" model with an "F" model plexiglass nose installed. Surviving older war-weary birds were relegated to second line duty, used as parts birds, or sent back to the States to be used as training ships, transports, or patrol planes as newer models made out out into the field. It was probably used as a transport aircraft within CONUS and, unfortunately, likely scrapped at the end of the war.
@@meatpopsicle1567 Like I said, er wrote, that plane along with nearly every other combat aircraft of that era was smelted down after they were deemed obsolete by the USAAF or USAF. Some types served on for years after the war in various capacities, but most of them became scrap eventually. The beer you had last night probably came in an alu can that at one time was (following many smeltings) one of these planes. Well, maybe.....
She was in Cleveland hosting Romper Room in the 60's. 😉😂🤣
@@ursamajor7468 I remember her. I was five, but I thought her show was a show for babies, so I never wanted to watch it.
What’s amazing watching the monorail- looks very much like today.
Were you able to figure out where in Finland and Norway this was filmed?
November '57. It would be cheaper to transfer your films in bulk with the right pros, with far better results.
I saved the majority of my collection from ending up at the dump. My main goal is to preserve them for the historical record. As of right now it's only costing me time. Unfortunately paying to have them done professionally isn't an option, at least at the moment
Thank you

Please tell us more -- date of the movie (50's?) -- which version of the Wolverine did you use -- what settings -- are you happy with the results? The scan looks pretty good though there is a lot of 'gunk' -- probably was in the camera, and then damage from the passing of time. Cheers!
Approximately 1950, default settings without post processing. I didn't clean the film firs, that's something I'm going to try out when I have time. Other than frequent jams (I think I can improve it by tinkering with the film gate), I am pretty happy with the quality. Check out the last few videos I've uploaded. They are scanned and processed with a program called film9. I am very happy with the results

Haha yeah I have a lot of films, tapes and photos to share, I should have a more broad name

Good work, Harrison. I'm thankful it was saved and restored.
I love finding 'lost sounds.' When I hear such things I wonder how long ago it was that anyone else heard it. Keep it coming!
I am working on it! I have A LOT to upload!
