I wanted a vega wagon in the worst way around 25 years ago. I lived in Iowa and found several sitting in fields or side lots (say a car guy has a lot of stuff around and off to the side he's got 2 vega wagons randomly, stuff like that). I would get excited, talk to the owner and ask to take a look. Open the driver's door and look down and just see the ground- every single one was completely rusted through to nothing on the underside. The midwest is cruel to 70s steel. This looks like an amazing example! Would love to have something like it.
Cylinder barrels? Cmon man
Needs a buncha monza+ sbc and itll be oerfect. Keep up with the original parts if you're thinking of turning it back original later
I had one only dark green. I don't believe this is a real GT. Mine had round dials with a speed o that read 140 mph and it had a tac with oil pressure and temp gauges. It had a solid shift counsel with fake wood grain. It also had the GT emblem in the steering wheel and on the fenders and the center caps on the wheels. It also had a stainless steel wind deflector on the top of the tail gate.
It's been on CL for a long time. It does look like it's all original including the paint. The Dynamic 394 had different pistons which lowered the compression to 8.5 so it would run on regular gas along with the 2 barrel carb it was more economical also lower hp's.
My favorite car! Looking for one cause I lost my ''73.
You don't see them anymore cuz they just rusted away early on. Can't imagine how this one was kept so nicely, I guess it spent most of its life down south and in a garage. I never understood the concept of the aluminum block mated to the cast iron head, that just doesn't make any sense to me.
Definitely the cleanest example I've seen in many years. As I was typing that this would be perfect for someone trying to relive their childhood, you said it!
Love the car, feel the price is high for the miles, and 91 is the most common year of thirdgen or fourthgen 1LE Z28.
Didn't know there was a 3rd gen 1LE. I think I'll pay half the price and just throw on the G92 axle myself.
Didn't know these existed. Limited or not, way to many miles on it for the price.
I bought a new 2001 Pontiac Formula/ Firehawk. Red with the yellow lettering and some accents. Man was that a good looking fast car especially with that huge ram air hood. I had a LOT of goot times in that car. Wom a lot of races in it with just a few upgrades to the engine. So many great memories. Wish i would have kept it but had ro sell it for something i could get a carseat in and out of a lot easier. Usually the ultimate downfall of a young man and his fast car was a baby. Ugh went from that to a minivan. I also had a 98 Z71 stepside so i still got to keep my truck. Now the kids are grown and im single again. So a couple years ago i tried something a little different. I bought a EVO 10. Then i proceded to upgade it a little at a time until it was scary fast. Definitely made me a Mitsubishi fan. I did have a 300gt back in the day and i loved it but it wasnt anywhere near as fast as my evo. Last fall i hit a deer going lets say 80. Probably more like 95 but after hit it andooked downi was f Going 80 so i say that. Destroyed the front end. I jad olanned on putting in the shop and fixing it over the winter but i just havent felt well in several months. 5 years ago i went through stage 3 colon cancer and stage 2 non Hodgkin's Lymphoma. They removed about a third of my colon and i had to have one of those iliostimy bags on my side for 3 years. I had rhe surgery. Had everything cut out and did my chemo. It was awful. Started feeling better. All my checkups went fine up until the one for a year and they found and spot on my liver the size of a nickel. They did a biopsy. It was positive it had spread to my liver. Went back under the knife and they removed a quarter of my liver and gallbladder. I dod the chemo again and the second time i got so weak i couldn't do anything but lay in bed sick all the time. Almost starved but i pulled through. So as a gift to myself i found and a female owned EVO 10 for sale with 30k on it. Alm yhe service reacords were there and this car was a gem until i got it home and it immediately bacame my toy that i would be take to the dragstrip and i know i could win money with racing bracket racing. I modded it when i could and felt like it. I definitely had one of of not the fastest little car in my small hometown in KY. Then boom inwas coming home one night and destroyed a deer. Broke my heart at the time Luckily i had bought i blown up regular lancer that was rhe same exact color. Used the same radiator, radiator support, bumper and bumber cover. Both headlights, air con condensor, grans cooler, but no turbo parts. I could pyobably order everything i need and have it done and ready to tune in a week. I just dont feel like ot though. Ive felt kikda weak all winter and haven't done much and layed around. I still had to take care of my cattrle and dogs in my farm but as far as rebuilding that car it seems like im just not interested in it anymore. My best friend says im depressed and he may be right. Ive been though a lot the last few years and it has taken a toll on me mentally and physically but my cars were always my go to therapy. Now i just dont care if it ever gets done. Ive been trying to get my son to come help me with it and i was going to give it to him. For a yiung man i taught him a lot. He used to stay in the shop with me working on anything but he stays so busy at work i dont think he'll ever make it up to finish it. Anyway sorry for the book. I get lonysometimes and telling my story helps some. Thanks.
Saw it in Daytona Fl.Good bones looked tired though
Clearly the car Barney is getting into has roof and door color that is not white. I’m wondering if the show’s prop department did that for tonal balance because white would have been to harsh for the capabilities of black and white filming. Particularly since the car would only be in shots outdoors. If that is the case, then I accept the tribute car’s doors being white. And yes. You could have a lot of fun with this car. Thanks for sharing.
Wise choice regardless if you pay $5k or $9k and keep it say for 8 or more years. Say even you need to put in a thousand every other year for maint. Do the math how much per year that will cost you after you sell it for $2000 or so when you are done. Now compare that to a lease I just did the math on. New F150 mid level truck with cloth. The lease works out to $8,100 per year, every year for 3 years. I would rather drive this Lincoln.
this car was for sale before this in wayne nj i think for 18k
All Firehawks were Formula based until '99 when they offered a Trans Am version which quickly outsold the Formula version.
I have wanted one of these ever since they were new. Decades ago I owned and daily drove a 1971 Monte Carlo which was a direct relative of this GP. It was possibly my favorite car ever, and I bought it from the original owner for $750. My now ex-wife destroyed it in an accident long ago. I wish I would have found a '71 GP like this to replace my Monte. There were many still around at that time and they were not expensive.
370hp or 390 hp with the 428 HO
I had the 1979 Cobra Mustang in high school.
How reliable are those? They look badass but not sure if they're money pits or not🤔🤔
Love the car. That could really be a good buy for someone with the extra time.
Looks to be a nice one.
I own a 1993 Buick Regal Gran Sport Sedan with every single option available in two tone black over grey. This is the more popular Limited Coupe with the optional leather interior with center console and very very rare factory Power moonroof. The power moonroof(which i have as well on my GS sedan) was a very expensive option on these cars. It's price was around $1,500 which back in the early 90's was a ton of money. I can tell you from my own personal ownership, this car is worth all the $5,000 the seller is asking. The 3800 motor is bulletproof and super quick. The Limited models were really well appointed and MUCH nicer than the base custom trims. The rarest of the bunch was what i own, the Gran Sport sedans. I will note this green exterior is also rare as many won't optioned in this muted color. Black, White, Beige and Black were much more popular at the time. This was also the last year BEFORE these cars got the UGLY airbags so 1993 is the year to own.
I just go to profile and see how many listings they have and then I check how many sold listings they have, if the number of sold listings is zero then 98% chance its a scammer.
Not a Chrysler…just IMPERIAL. Not even VINed as a Chrysler. Want proof ? Check the IMPERIAL VIN DECODER. All Chrysler models (New Yorker, 300, Newport,) have the letter “C” as their “MAKE CODE,” (designating what MAKE of car they are. ) IMPERIAL does NOT. It carries the distinctive “Y” make code in its Vehicle Identification Number….the SAME “MAKE CODE” that previous IMPERIAL cars had from the 50s to the ‘70’s had. If these Imperials had been Chryslers…they too would’ve carried the “C” make code. But…they do NOT. Thus they are NOT Chryslers….but I M P E R I A L S .
Feel like that's a little high for an LT1. You may be able to talk the seller into the teens, where the deal looks much more attractive. Truly a beautiful car with most of the right options and papers to boot. Like you said though, the auto really takes away from the performance nature of the car. If you want just a clean auto street cruiser, you can still get a nice one with slightly higher miles for much much less. I got my 95 Z28 during the heights of covid with 91k for 5k in not too bad of shape.
THEY BOUGHT THIS CAR FROM UNIQUE CLASSIC CARS FOR 30,000 BUCKS NOW TRYING TO GET 35,000 there's a video of it also
I always liked the 81 Thunderbird. Never had one. I did have an 81 Mercury cougar sedan 2-door
the passanger interior door panel looks sus. I can see bolts. $5995 at most. Cool vehicle though.
I reported a 73 mach one several times kept coming up
last summer had 69 mach one for 19k local then did look nation wide was same car in each local but with different sellers and addresses
Love it! The price is definitely right too. Even if it's just the 2 barrel and the 3 speed, 13.5 isnt bad at all! It's relatively clean, all the panels are there and not rusted up, and it looks like it may run OK. You said this was only worth 9? What leads you to that estimate? Have old cars fallen in value that much lately?
Damn that's beautiful😍 Love the red on red. Would much rather it was a 350 but I'd still buy that 3rd gen
My grandparents have a white 65 Marlin, it’s been in the family since 1967/68 when they bought it in Arizona. According to my grandpa it’s one of 2% ever made with factory A/C.
Beautiful 😍 I always loved these and the N*. I've had several and loved them all. The ETC was the higher performance version with the NHP N#. The ESC was the lower trim
those and the Mark VIII were great cars for their day.
Love the design of these cars.
No just take out the the 318 and install a 360 C I 4 barrel HP and dump the digital dash.
Great buy here. I'd honestly pay 10 if everything was verified and checked out. Edit: wait- this is that fwd Conti. Nevermind. I'd do 7k tops.
dude, Rob - you do a real nice job with these… coverage, engaging style - very cool. thx seanM
ROSE QUARTZ COLOR
Police car onlys were 5.8 liter
Time to start looking for an unmarked PPV/PSV car!
I had this exact Crown Vic. I miss it so much sub frame rusted out real bad🤦🏻♂️
Dude, The ad says odometer rolled over.
Nice car, I’ll never understand why they change the stance and the wheels. In my opinion, steel rims and poverty caps, or rally wheels.
My favorite body style. 383 4 speed is a very good combo for a daily driver. Price isn't bad but a little to much blue for me. Like to have the original wheels.
Tyler Hoovie bought a FS Edition for 6500. EFI runs, my suggestion was to turn it into a racecar and mount a Supetbird wing upon the tail, my idea would be make the fin a tribute to Richard Petty and have the legend sign it. In the interior I would keep the digital dash and stroke and seats. What is your opinion. He claim to have have paid 6500 and I believe him. Car has 6900 miles but that could be wrong. I like black better.
Lay off the breakfast bourbon 🙄
sure are alot of jems from yesterday out there
If that were close to me, I'd be very tempted.
Although you are right about the dollars being less than an average new car, the total new car sales in the US was 16 million cars. That means somewhere around 5% of the total US population bought a new car. Or 95% didn't. And people don't buy classics as their primary car, so that's even more of a reason not to compare them to new. But finally, collector cars have a popularity and condition ranking that is pretty well impossible to avoid. So something like a 71 Pontiac GP with a 455 is a special interest car that is pretty close to impossible to restore without going underwater. Is it good value? Maybe only to the right buyer. And the right buyer isn't looking at spread sheets for that car. So it's really not the right way to promote it. Getting into the looks or style, or the period it came out in, might trigger the right buyer to get excited. But better yet, compare that GP to an earlier or more popular classic, such as a GTO, and help that potential buyer to see that they can get a really great classic experience without paying the popularity tax. Money is very important in classic cars. But you do need to make the right comparisons to generate the excitement you seem to want the viewer to have here. Cheers n Good luck!
