This still a thing?? Very interested!
As far as I know. It’s been a while since I’ve been up that way.
We stayed out there a couple years ago for a monthMy husband and daughter were coming off the mountain and it started pouring and they were only going about 10 miles an hour something made them slip and they started rolling down mountain thank God the trees caught them before they rolled too far it was 4 days before the police or anyone showed up
Nimblewill Gap road is now full of homeless people and migrants living in the camping areas, and it’s getting worse. I just drove through today and it’s pathetic!!
There was a murder on that road back in Sept. 1999. I watched a Dateline NBC episode on TV ("Deadly Twist" Season 23, Episode 30), streaming on the Peacock Channel. -- A man named Todd Winkler killed his wife, and tried to make it look like an accident. He ran their truck off of White Oak Gap Road, and it burned. It wasn't discovered to be a murder, until he killed another wife in California, years later, and they started investigating.
I love Helton Creek Falls! Been there several times. I was just there back in December 2022, and came in the other side where you cross the two creeks. Such a pretty drive!
Most of N GA is Jeep country. Ever see LR Discoveries on the trail?
I actually haven’t. Mostly Toyota and Jeep.
It’s about to be Bronco country, move out the way.
Is this lat and long for the nimblewill gap entrance? We usually go up Bucktown road and never come from the other side...just happens we forget to mark our exit point at nimble gap...
Are atv’s allowed on this trail?
The beginning yeah thats your worthless trashy people same on HWY 52 in Cohutta Wilderness Southside
I commend you for not driving on roads when they are real wet. I watched a video of a group of Jeeps that ran the Nimblewill Gap road in a downpour. The whole road was covered in water. Really ticked me off.
Why did that aggravate you?
Because it tears the roads up. Creates big mud holes. There are places in the Ga mountains where you can’t drive without 4wheel drive anymore.
Owns a Prius 🤣🤣
The Forest Service basically doesn’t do any road maintenance anymore. They don’t have the money in their budget and with this new four wheeling craze you’re going to see more gated roads.
We, the property owners in Cashes Valley spend thousands of dollars each year repairing and maintaining the road because the bad actors in the 4 wheel drive community spins up and destroys the road. Please tread lightly and ask those you see there to do the same. We've love assistance maintaining the road. We do the big work every August. Thank you.
D S, We thank you and the other property owners. Was on Cashes Valley over Thanksgiving week and noted all the signs. We treaded lightly and even picked up some trash other had left behind.
Lifted 2wd good enough for this?
ever find out?
Yes. Some of the side roads may be a bit sketch but you’ll be good
I can’t wait to get over there and run Charlie’s Creek, thanks for video man 💯👍
That’s a good looking campsite
I like how you describe what you’re seeing along with the mileage 💯👍
The graffiti has been cleaned off of the rocks thanks to a group of volunteers. The History Traveler has a video showing the operation and the end results.
I loved this video. My Mom was from down here and back in the day there were no paved roads. I love the peace and quiet down there. Thanks for making this.
Went here today. Was pretty fun. A longer route to check out is going on forest service road 28-1 and there was a road 141 gate.
Great video. Hike up there often but never went past that first campsite pulloff. Will head up to try and find a good spot on the river to camp soon
all trails in NC are a dead end, if they're not already closed :(
Stock 4Runner?
Is that side road to the left you went down 28-B or 28-D??
Nice videos
Where is this
Near Blairsville, GA
Lol he’s scared of mud!
I vaguely remember a road march in the area...way back in the early 80"s
Is your vehicle stock ?
How do you get there from Atlanta?
Well done. Very informative.
Video doesn't do it justice just how rocky this road is. Beat us up in the rubicon
That bridge looked pretty sketchy. Think that’s where I would have turned around
I live in Wiltshire, South-West of England, relatively close to the area where the 101st spent many months training before going into combat in occupied France. It's interesting to see the area where they started training - and how far from home they travelled just to get to Europe. (As for running up this trail - even the thought of doing that makes me feel ill!)
I love the channel. Thanks for posting the coordinates!
So where do you check for road closures? Wife and I drove from Highlands NC over to Clayton then Blue Ridge and Helen. Wish I would've known about these then. We'll be back soon though and I'll take the old LX470 this time. Keep the vids coming. I really like your content. Thanks for sharing 👍
I check with the forest service. www.fs.usda.gov/detailfull/conf/maps-pubs/?cid=fsm9_029112&width=full
Who is this Wimp??
thanks for the information. Hopefully I will be traveling this road soon.
Can you please share the start point. We went to wolf Creek Rd via 25 today but it's blocked off after you get in so far.
Coordinates are in the description.
Hello from Lawrenceville area ! very nice trail.....will go there soon
Great Video ! loved it
Did charlies creek rd yesterday. Definitely some deep rut's in a few spot's. Tacoma TRD Pro had no issues but need some ground clearance and 4x4 especially on the backside. Scoped out that campsite u saw around 11:14 time. Great detailed video sir!!
Air down! :)
I just drove down tallulah river road yesterday, awesome scenery! Absolutely beautiful!
What the best app or gps for trail ride for beginners i live in GA
Wayne Gaia is by far the best app for off-roading! You do have to buy the subscription to unlock all of the features but it’s not much (like $10 a year) and it’s totally worth it. There’s also a ton of UA-cam video’s showing what it can do.
It took me over an hour which way did I go?
Is this in asheville?
No. He didn't give coordinates that I could see, but this is part of the Raven Cliffs Wilderness Area in the Chattahoochee NF, at the Dukes Creek section, where the Raven Cliffs Trail head begins. Right off Hwy 348, the Richard B Russell scenic highway.
Good info! Subscribed to your channel (: Are you in 4x4 the whole time? Do you think it can be done in a 2wd truck? Thanks!
Just curious, did you check out the old cemetery?
Hey Doug! Are you on facebook?
Great video and very informative, much better than most off-road videos with annoying background music, thanks!
