As a teenager I was always pleased when Pirmin Zurbriggen won. He was my favourite.
how did u get all the footage, im especially curious about Nakiska
Nearly all of the footage (including Nakiska) is from UA-cam
C è anche quello delle donne?
ua-cam.com/video/UOuYynkXswU/v-deo.html
Тони,как он себе шейки не сломал...)
No Picaboo
Interesting to see how different the courses were, Some were like Super-Gs, others were flat-out. b-lls to the wall, lunatic runs.
❤️🎿❤️🎿❤️🎿❤️🎿❤️🎿❤️
Zurbriggen's legs must have been tired after the bumpy snow..
Der Fahrstil war früher schon sehr rustikal, was sicherlich auch an dem im Vergleich zu heute wesentlich schlechteren Material und den schlechten Pisten lag.
Thanks for posting this. I could watch them all in their entirely!
Awesome, thanks bro!
Downhill skiing, besides motorcycle racing, has to be the most dangerous sport one can imagine ... you ride down a near vertical ice plate at speeds of close to 130, 140 kilometers per hour, with no more protection than a helmet and your bare body .... those downhill skiers deserve the most respect in the whole world of sports, far more than any football or tennis player. These athletes are the real heroes!
Wow, look at these trees beside the track, with no protection.
2022 Beat Feuz, Schweiz
And now the GOAT beat feuz in 2022
Are you serious?
Austria dominates alpine, always have and always will
Norway has been better in the downhill and super g the last 10 years in with Svindal and Jansrud
Do slalom, GS and super g.
After the 2022 games end I will for sure :)
Ok nice
Can you do women as well?
@@oskarfast7030 I hope to do all events for both women and men if I can find everything!
Lots of greats & Lindsey is there with them
Господи, раньше никакой системы ограждений не было! Можно было погибнуть просто так...
инфинити ....
Girardelli, Heinzer, Alphand, Ghedina, Miller, Kjus and Cuche never won the gold metal in a olimpic downhill. Crétier won. It's too bad
Think of all the great austrian downhillers who never won gold Maier,eberharter,walchhofer....the list goes on
@@dereee1232 He mentioned Giradelli, who is an austrian!
Moe deserved it less, maybe Johnson neither
Not even Aamodt has won the downhill. 0.04 seconds is sour on his home ground.
@@Inge.Borthne Aamodt won just only one downhill in world cup. Girardelli 3, Heinzer 15, Alphand 10, Ghedina 12, Miller 8, Kjus 10, Cuche 12. They deserved it much more than Aamodt
Merci!
Fun fact- Egon Zimmerman, winner of the 1964 Olympics, ending up marrying Penny Pitou (who was the silver medalist in the 1960 Olympics at Stowe). Their granddaughter is on the US Ski Team!
Nicola RRW Interesting!
Not really. You mean Egon Zimmermann I. He was born in 1933. Egon Zimmermann II was winner in the olympic games. Both racer have the same name.
Whats the name of the granddaughter ?
It's a different Egon Zimmermann.
jean varnet broke the mold
Jean was smooth & fast
🇧🇻 Happy Ending 🇧🇻😺🥳🎉
The pistes in 1948 and 52 were hardly recognizable as pistes - impressive how they rode down there
I had a pair of skis that were endorsed by Tony Sailor. I think they were Heads? The first ski race i can recall watching was the 1960 Olympics at Squaw Valley on TV. I had already been skiing. I wanted to do a downhill race after watching it.
Interesting even at innsbruck in 64 they seemed to have a poor year for snow.
Man, these old timers, were pretty bad ass, brave sportsmen, riding these wooden flat planks!
Interestingly enough, no one has been able to capture the gold more than one time. Katja Seizinger is the only one who has done it in the women's class.
Only two skiers have come close to repeating: Russi (who won silver in Sapporo as the only defending champion to medal) and Svindal (who missed gold in Vancouver by just 0.07). Seizinger was only the second skier of any gender to successfully defend an Olympic title - a legend of the sport despite retiring at 25.
Russi won gold in Sapporo and silver in Innsbruck, as I’m sure You wanted to write.
Tony S.Falconchase Yes of course 😅
Sweet, interesting to see how the technique changed and developed over the years.
Mark Murphy Yes,the technique. As the skis, the boots, the bindings, the poles, the pistes and the helmets too. It would be curious to see what could do nowadays downhill skiers with the '40s equipment.
@@biaginiandrea5663 Look at Didier Cuches final run. He borrowed dress and skies from the ski museum in Mürzzuschlag, and rode down the "Planai" in Schladming. OK, it was a GS, bit still cool to look at.
11mousa Absolutely cool! ( :
Great video Thanks!
Klammer is the GOAT.
Agreed!
