How to undervolt a 4090 guide | Timespy benchmark results between power limit and undervolt
Переглядів 18 тис.Рік тому
Hi all, undervolting was something that scared me, and I never quite found the guide that held my hand through doing it, so I thought I'd create a video. Hopefully, it might help someone out there. Please remember that editing settings on your card may cause damage to your card or void your warranty, so please always proceed with caution. oh the goblin tax, reminds me of the game played a one yest ago but my english is so bad ,l couldn't understand they said about talked tax ,so goblin killed me at the jungle camp. l'am game role is a fat black men.
Why did UE4 looks so much better than 5
This vid was a gem. Bummed I missed it when it came out. xD
GPU at 2580 is that whilst in a game or what?
Looks like you had a good time being shown around
So he traded a horse from his pocket??
nice accent i didnt undestand a word, ok maybe 2 words
This game is great. However while it has the highest of the highs it does also have the lowest of the lows. Sometimes you get, and sometimes you get got. Good times though
One of my favorite games right now!
Why do the wolves attack with their paws?!
the spins don't JUST hide animations, they can also affect the starting location for a hit too... so that's a thing to consider, like an inverse attack to your spin, works A LOT. it's hard to expect, since it's hard to pull off, but also, you can release it right as soon as they come within range of the attack and it'll start the animation on them.
i love when footies do the spin and i hit them with elemetal magic and damn near one shot them makes me smile
another thing worth noting about the spear, is that it's mostly aimed toward team fights, you can force parries to let others hit, or vice versa.
el oh el, good to play in the winter, cheap heatin'... I felt that.
Hello, my games crash when I do this with my 4090. Why?
Hi mate, with things like this you’ll have to tweak it until it works as not all cards are made equally. You could just leave it as default and set the power limit to 80%, it gives almost the same results.
@@ThorTheTitanthank you
most immersive MMO by far. if you can come play now it's still buy2play for a few more weeks/months
Plus the sub you mean, lol.
Dude this is soo good omg
i want to join the goblin kingdom so bad bro
Damn finally some roleplay content in MO2 hahah soo funny! What a first expearience as a new player.. i would have loved this game since those first interactions 🤣😍
The conversation through town taking 5 minutes to get 100ft lol
One month ago? and UA-cam is just recommending this to me now? Subbed
Heyyyy brother, thank you man <3
After playing for several months, I love this game, but I can’t stand two things about it: 1. No matter how good you are at games or how much you’ve practiced, if you kick the shit out of someone they immediately scream “reported!” Or “nice hack”. The attitude of “nobody is better than me and if they are they must be cheating.” Is highly exhausting and just plainly pathetic. And 2. The gms play the game and have friends and favorites. I know this first hand as I was harassed by several individuals using racial and homophobic slurs in voice chat in the middle of town and when I reported it, the GM tried to shame and punish me for being harassed. So between the ridiculously toxic players and ridiculously toxic staff, this game will never reach its full potential. Nobody wants to deal with all that shit when they’re trying to play a game to relax.
after 1.5 years playing mortal I met 99% chill people or at least not flaming after being killed. GM experience was decent every time, I'm sure if you reported this GM to the company they take care about him if multiple complaints come
As ya prolly know sausage lake is the large lake in the middle but, do you know why it's called sausage lake?
Hey bro, why is it called sausage lake?
Back long ago in mo1, when u made a character. There was no tutorial nor could u choose a town as a spawn location. So you'd come into the world, naked as the day u are born, and the lake would be the default spawn point. Everyone's glorious sausages spawning at the lake and flopping off into the wilderness in search of towns and clothing. 😅
@@Br4vado mate that’s incredible haha. I feel I missed out with MO 1.
@@ThorTheTitan the game surely holds a special place for me with alot of incredible memories and I'd love to show people around the old world and everything mo2 will become over time. But it's way time consuming and honestly looks like a ps2 game lmao 🤣 It's so ugly and I was one of the ones saying no this game is incredible until I logged on thenother week to get screenshots for my short haha
Man, this is legendary content. Some interactions are so funny! :D
Aye mate, they are fantastic, need to find time to make another as there have been so many fantastic interactions in this game.
Beautiful
“Extortion” Bruh, I’m fucking crying!
Honestly I love Weis, I find it so hard to keep a straight face most of the time lol.
this took mine from 443w board power in 3dmark speedway to 345w and about -10°C hotspot and about 1fps drop
maybe i got unlucky at the silicon Lottery. I got a Palit RTX 4090 Gamerock OC. I play at 1440p and locked the frames to 142fps (because i have a 144Hz Gsync Monitor) and the only Game i benched is Borderlands 3 (I don't have 3D Mark, nor Cyberpunk, etc...). Borderlands 3 is really sensitive and trigger happy when OCing or UVing a GPU (had my fair share of Experience already, with my RTX 2080 Super, a couple of years back). so the GPU runs in Game at 2820Mhz at 1.050V so i tried: 900mV @2800Mhz -> Crashed right at the beginning of the Benchmark 925mV @2800Mhz -> Crashed at the End 900mV @2650Mhz -> Crashed after the Benchmark 925mV @2550Mhz -> stable 900mV @2550Mhz -> stable i might try going for 875mv @2550Mhz and then 900mV @ 2600Mhz
Dude, great vid. You've got a voice for radio for sure, felt like I was listening to a radio station. Thats meant as a compliment :)
Thanks mate. I also have a face for radio too lol.
@@ThorTheTitan lol
The last video I watched did the opposite, they brought the starting graph down and then drug the line up at 950mv so im totally confused. Whats the difference?
Yes please 😊
I've made crazy 2400@870mv for old or not very graphical demanding games so it much cooler and very quite than if I leave it by default. I have no idea why the driver push 950mv or hiher when GPU is chilling about 20-40% load XD. I wouldn't go lower 870 as it doesn't apply my voltage for some reason.
why i can see only until 2500 mhz? i cant zoom out over 3000
No one so far has explained what lowering / raising the curve before the chosen voltage does. That seems highly relevant to me, if you generally use more/less voltage all over the curve, yet people always just randomly pick some position for it. Can anyone explain that? Not understanding this makes me just want to set the power limit and be done.
• Let's say you run a task that requires 2000MHz from your GPU. At stock settings, your GPU will draw 825mV in order to reach 2000MHz. • Now let's say you raise the curve by 200MHz. Since the curve is now higher on the Y-axis (MHz), it will hit a lower voltage on the X-axis (mV). • Your GPU can now run a 2000MHz task at 800mV, hence saving power. Get it? 🙃
Howcome the change is at 950 mV? Just a good spot to do it crowd tested by folks?
I hear overclocking the memory is good on this card, can that be combined with undervolting after wards?
Definitely, every 4090 can easily get +1000 on memory
Best undervolt video I ever seen, thank you man!
70% power limit is good all around and simple to do for a newbie. I personally like to have access to the whole power spectrum of the card and like to see when and where it may need it. For the main games you plan to run I'm sure there are some templates out there already to go by for Freqs, volts, and mem clocks. Nice video!
70% power limit looks to be the best fit for the 4090, tbh.
you needed calculator for that?
with these settings, the card will warm up more in idle time. it is better when the frequency drops if the video card is not used
That's not how it works. Since higher clocks are available at lower voltages, the card will use less voltage, meaning less heat, even at lower loads. Also, the card idles at 210MHz while the curve editor only allows control down to 600MHz. Idle state isn't affected by undervolting.
Undervolting with a loss in performance is not anything I would call successful. Undervolting and maintaining performance or gaining it would be. The only reason I'd find it essential is if ones current psunis not enough. Even then I would first start with reducing CPU clocks and draw before I would touch the gpu.
something isn't right, the graphs shows you failed at the undervolt, it's using 40W more than 70% power limit but performs the same ???
i got 2550mhz at 0.875V and that is good enough for me playing any game on my LG CX48 4k@120HZ TV and GPU tops max 250W (somewhere 220W on avg playing COD MW2) and i cant notice a difference playing any game maxed out. i also had a stable 2900MHz@0.975v but i would rather save on power when the fps loss is minimal and fans barely spining gpu sits at max 50C gaming... very efficient
My card can do +165Mhz at 1.05V and +300Mhz at 0.850V so i mixed both spots to a single curve also up to 1.05V and then simply reduce the power limit a bit. So my card is now using on the whole curve less power and automatically staying on lower frequencies on power demanding games. I also use a Frame limiter so the card will use lower frequencies when not fully utilized but it can boost up to 2920 Mhz if its needed when the load gets higher.
can you upload a screenshot?
Looks like simple reducing PL to 80% is more effective than undervolting
Nope, u cant reach those precise settings with the power level slider. Power level reduction reduces everything, while undervolting if u do it well only reduces temperatures and consumption but not performance.
@@CoffeeGameMovie Agreed. But you loose a very small percent of performance in this case. What about me i did not reduce PL and did not undervolt my factory OC 4090. Im satisfied with stock settings
@@atriusvinius319 Stock settings are ok, but lets see my example: my 4070ti temperatures at stock under superposition went to: gpu 68C, hotspot 78C, memory 78C. After a 900mV@2600MHz undervolt temperatures are: gpu 58C, hotspot 68C, memory 73C. So its a huge difference with the same performance. Under games like Elden Ring 4K maxed, gpu temperature is about 43C, its funny how cool it is. Its worth it for me, just a free -10C.
@@CoffeeGameMovie Congratulations! The result is very good. I will give it a try. Did you overclock the memory?
@@atriusvinius319 I gave the memory +500MHz in afterburner (effective its +1000). I didnt want too much hassle with it, just a little safe increase.
This is a great guide, I'm getting 2900mhz at 950mv... actually getting more fps for less power usage.. insane
R u sure it’s stable? If yes, yours might be the best binned chip I’ve seen so far, actually at least 80-100 MHz higher than others that I’ve seen
@@kellen4854 hes lying proly
@@gheyvillan9638 That would be a 3.15 - 3.2 ghz chip at 1.1V if true. But nothing is 100% stable without cyberpunk/metro exodus/quake 2 rtx/port royal 8k stress.
1995mhz - 910mv with rtx 3090ti msi gaming x trío. temperatures between 50-55º maximum and performance practically the same as stock. Consumption 250-300w depending on the game
mine is running 2800 at 0.950v with a 1500mhz memory oc with power limit at 80%.
Is the power limit 80% of what ever your new profile is or is it based on the maximum power it could possibly draw, being 600W?
@@kietay6505 Based on stock power which is 450w
I got mine stable at 2626mhz at 900mv with power target at 80% . I bumped the ram up 1000mz at that evened out the difference in fps for me. Was pulling between 250-310w depending on game and load, and temps were around 50c
Brilliant. Going to try that out.
If I did it right then I copied your settings just now. Running Firestrike Extreme and so far everything seems stable. Temps are hitting a max of around 60.
@@elkadillo4511 nice, depends on game and load, found a couple of games needed 100% power target to be stable!
What are you running in the background at the start to get Core and Mem MHz up? My AB shows like 210/405 at idle on an FE. Also, think you should put Temps on the graph too...assuming you got much lower temps. Good stuff, Thor...thanks! Edit: figure the FE may not hit the same Core target you're using so I dropped mine a bit...have it set at .945mV and 2650 Core...looks like I lose ~3% in synth benchmarks (SuperPosition, P. Royal) but save 25% wattage and drop temps -6c. Nice!
I noticed that when I did it, maybe have a 4k YT video running in the baackground to make it ramp up
doesn't it look much better and easier to just set a 90% power limit?
No, power limit reduction is an easier but not that precise solution. U just cant reach those best values with it as with undervolting.
