horrible design...
Thanks for the video.
At this point of disassembly, just pull out the air box, clean it, change the coil and plugs, valve clearance, air filter and coolant flush. This is why im never buying an Africa twin😂 it's a whole day job (speaking as a motorcycle mechanic)
Its the same with T700. How worse can it get?
I bought the same one & it worked fine for about a month… it shorted out on inside, the motor kept spinning even though it wasn’t engaged with the flywheel, but I didn’t know because my engine is so loud, I smelled it & disconnected the battery as fast as I could. I’m just going to rebuild old OEM Delco starters from now on. The 9000 doesn’t have a bushing support & the inadequate motor size needs a gear reduction just to get the job done. So far, I’m not impressed with the fawken things.
Failed slow mo
In the meantime you cracked the plug wire rubber boot 😪 I had to change mine cuz that crack would ground out my bike
Nice catch! I actually fixed it with super glue, and it holds nicely
@@EransJimmy no leaks?…
@jessrumblin none that I saw. I did some stretch test after glueing before installing and it looked firm
a bit helped to build quad engine swap
Looks like it needs some shims
Thx..yes it's very messy going there but I think these are iridium sparks and they go at least 80k....
You are correct regarding the iridium sparks, but according to the service manual, they require replacment every 32k miles / 51.2k km
@@EransJimmy ок..and with 51k have you done valve adjustment..mine is 21k and thinking but sadly don't have a book to check this
@pursuitofhappiness.. According to the manual, it says check valve clearance every 25.6k km. I have never done this, but you do raise a good point, I'll add it to my to-do list.
@@EransJimmy and you never heard rattling nose sometimes when engine is hot..🤔 I do sometimes that's why though about this n maybe because of oil viscosity 10w40 I use instead of 10w30
@pursuitofhappiness.. Before I did this oil and plug service, I used to often (not always) hear rattling sound when starting the bike (it always stopped after a few seconds). This stopped after this maintenance job, but I don't know if it's due to the oil or the plugs.
🤦 P r o m o S M
Was that some kind of wax you were melting on? Or a plastic filler?
I used thermoplastic rubber (TPR or TPE) but there is also a dedicated product called FiberFlex
@EransJimmy ok, appreciate the response!
Right or wrong.. at least you did it . Those round speaker grills are a nice touch .. I think I'm going to steal that idea..
Happy to inspire
what a nightmare thanks for the video
How much does something like this cost?
Most of the cost was just my time. The hard cash spent was around $150
Beautiful work
Same way as the original starter
How was this wired?
The solenoid comes out past the flywheel too much. You need to ad a shim to the inside
Yup thats why im here
My truck starts in the first 5 seconds with that same starter!!! 😁
nice camera work
Did you run dual plane intake? Today i measured same results as you did. I took manifold vacuum. Just curious if you know that dual plane intake are not made to read engine vacuum
Yes, its a dual plane
@@EransJimmy So in this movie actually you measured only 4 cylinders. And in the other movie you took carb manifold vacuum
What was the problem? Loose valve guides?
See the answer in this second video I did ua-cam.com/video/8CVpN9mY75A/v-deo.html
I ended up replacing the transmission. Anyway, first thing to check is pressure in all gears (that's the black/white tube you see in the video)
Eran Lazarovich appreciate your info thanks
You ever figure out what was making that noise I have one the exact same also have a vibration when torque converter lockup and when moving slowly from a stop whole truck shakes like a bind almost
This is another video that shows vacuum at idle and low throttle. ua-cam.com/video/GUOPNk6igAo/v-deo.html
I kind of solved it, I found that this vacuum gauge that I was using has some sort of filtering effect, it did not react fast and was very lazy moving the needle. so I changed to a different type (white color). You can see this second video I did with the white gauge. ua-cam.com/video/8CVpN9mY75A/v-deo.html
did you find out ?
Did you solve this problem already ?
Need to reshim that starter. Pinion is engaging out way too far
This happened to mine I had to take it apart and file it with a minature file and hone with emery cloth, works okay now
Didn't find an answer since, but I do feel that reverse is slipping, and does not have the same "power" as the rest of the gears. One day i will open the transmission again and find an answer...
I can't figure out how to post a picture to UA-cam but there's three bolts along the center of the valve body that can rub one of the drums
I have the same problem with the transmission I just rebuilt did you ever find an answer
