The ducks are likely seeing you and your shadow. If birds are working let them work, if in a distance start with a single quack just to get their attention. Not s lot of cover in that spot. Perhaps a layout blind would serve you well there

Get a Hat .....keep your face covered .. don't move when ducks get close......you doing pretty good for your first time

all ducks respond to a hen mallard call, mixed with whistles.. duck calling is not something you pick up overnight... get you a buck nasty 2 double reed and start with that cause it's easier to use... keep watching videos and start with a single quack... record yourself, if you dont think you sound like a duck then they dont either

sometimes its better to not call at all, especially if you're not a great caller. Might be best to start out with something like a mallard whistle. From what i heard, you might need to add a little more gut when you're blowing. Adding motion to your decoys will also help.

I applaud you for your willingness to try new things, test the water and move forward. Like anything, duck hunting has tricks you need to learn, not from me. but I'll enjoy watching you as you do it. your call at the beginning sounded too deep, ive had luck in se az with the duck commander calls mainly with green winged teal with the whistle style call

I’ve got a couple of 10’s that I use for salmon in the NW. I’m having the same issue you did with the anti reverse. Sent them back to Shimano three times now. I’m going to try oiling them up better to see if that keeps water out but seems to happen more when I fish in the rain or soon after. Love them other than that. They work great for downrigger fishing.
