Yes, it is expensive. I noticed some seafood in JB actually cost more than in Singapore. But for Grand Bayview, I don't mind coming again and paying a bit more because I like the taste, environment and their kampung chicken is delicious

Pullman is more for adults, especially on a romantic outing. May be a bit boring for kids. Snorkelling there for kids may not be safe also because of the steep drop off. Redang Islnd Malaysia will be a safer bet, and much cheaper too
