Evans Dulcimer Build
Переглядів 2,5 тис.Рік тому
After building a couple of guitars I was looking around for an acoustic instrument that might be easier to play. I hit on Dulcimers. My first was a hourglass style. It caught on in my family. The dulcimer in this video is my fifth.I have now settled on my own teardrop style. These are my own design and built from scratch. Some of my other dulcimers and my first guitar are visible at the end of ...

My son Evan is doing the driving and flying for me in this video. I recently built a new computer with an I9 13900k cpu and 3090 TI GPU. It was an upgrade from my I9 9900K with a 2080TI. While It was an improvement, the cpu could be a bottleneck. Because I only do VR and have high end gear I decided to go all in with the 4090 on the new build. The increase in performance is fantastic. I now run...
Mary & Matt's Spalted Maple Open Close Segment Vase

I made this vase for my sister and brother-in law. It is made from the most beautiful piece of spalted maple I have ever seen. All of the wood was milled from a single piece. I hope you enjoy it.
Immersive SimRig, DOF H6 Motion Platform, DD2, Warthog, G2, Pimax 8KX,

My Sim Rig is the result of 4 year VR journey. It began with an Oculus then Oculus S, Reverb G2 and Pimax 8KX. I went through 3 wheel bases, 3 racing peddles, 3 hotas, a manual platform, dof h3, dof h6 and 2 computers. I loved the process. Although I could have saved a lot of money by starting at the top. Even though some of the Rigs features may seem small, they all add up to a very immersive ...
Oregon Wood Turning Segmented Walnut/Ash Tall Vase 576 pieces

This a 20" x 5" walnut and ash segmented vase. It has 24 rings each with 24 segments so the pattern makes a complete revolution. The wall is about 3/8" thick. There are 576 pieces.
Oregon Wood Turning Live Edge Apple Wood Beer Steins
Переглядів 5353 роки тому
I made these for my son in Sicily, Italy. He collects Beer Steins. They are both from a single aged apple wood log. It's a little different from my usual projects. It was simple, quick and I really enjoyed making them. I brought then to Sicily to give them to him in person. Actually, I'm posting this Video from my B&B in Catania, Sicily. Never know where wood turning may take you.
Oregon Wood Turning Open & Closed Segmented Spalted Maple Vessel

All of the pieces of this vessel were cut from the same 50 year old log. It has a diameter of 11" and height of 10". It is only my 4th Open Segment piece. I really enjoyed turning it. It is my favorite so far.

Having some fun with my favorite wood, Walnut. I like making patterns in wood turnings. It's not very often when a finished piece turns out just I planned. I based my Vortex on "Bending Spacetime" by Oliver Gomis.

I bought another lathe from a great guy named Ernie in Oakridge, OR a couple of weeks ago. I love the lathe but I'm more excited about the truck and trailer full of spalted maple, walnut and juniper that came with it. I'll never be able to turn all of this amazing wood.
Oregon Wood Turning Black Walnut Log Bowl with 48 Segment Lip
Переглядів 2023 роки тому
I picked up an old walnut log on the side of the highway. It was extreamly checked and split. I decided to make a bowl. To contrast with the rugged nature of the log I put a 48 segment ring for the top lip.

Wayne this is great to see, love all your ideas and run a few of them myself like the transducers under the controls. Since you're going for immersion primarily (same as myself) I'd love to hear your take on the H3 vs upgrading to the H6. I mostly run flight sims and imagining having the heave adds quiet a bit to the reality of it! But struggling with the cost bump. Coming from an experienced real world pilot, is the H3 enough to get the feeling of air under the wings, that is so much part of flight or is the heave axis needed really? ... Any difference in smoothness between them also? Rare to get someone that has used both and real world reference to compare from :)

    • @waynesstuff6308
      @waynesstuff6308 2 роки тому

The h6 is better in every way. However, even though I am an airplane guy in both VR and the real world I don't feel that any platform does flight very well. Pitch isn't too bad but roll is not what you feel in a real plane and yaw is what you would feel in a very uncoordinated turn. The biggest distraction is that the forces in real flight are much smoother. This not a put down of Dofreality. It's just physics. I think lower setings are the way to go for flight. I just use pitch, Now when it comes to racing, the h6 is fantastic. When you combine the h6 with the DD2 wheel and Pimax 8kx it is just incredible.

Hi, Wayne! Truly a brilliant idea... THANK YOU!! I second cTTbLaKeMan's comment! Some questions.... 1) Any idea why you have had multiple clogged oil pick-up problems? 2) What specific symptoms were you experiencing when the pickup was clogged? I would assume low oil pressure light and/or engine noise(s) due to low oil pressure. 3) Did you install / use an oil pressure gauge, and if so, what oil pressures were you getting with a clogged screen, AND, 4) was the low oil pressure (with pickup clogged) most noticeable at idle, or at higher engine speeds? And 5) was the problem worse with cold/thick oil, or with hot/lower viscosity oil? Thanks in advance, David

Nice looking turning. I had to think back when you said how long you have been using Deft. I have been using it for 55 years. I buy it by the gallon. Although lately I have been using it from their spray cans. I need to try the the HVLP spray gun I bought. Just have not done it. So maybe what I am working on now will be a good place to try it out. By the way....from Oregon myself. Take care, Gary
