Woww Amazing view ❤❤
Great, now let's see it done at sea in a Force 9 gale, at night with frightened passengers instead of trained crew.
They have off course been tested (by professionals) in extreme conditions, but, yes as you say.... in reality things may not be as simple in an uncontrolled environment. That is why it is VERY important to attend full scale drills such as this one, and for the participants to have an inquisitive mind during the drill/test.
1:19 Is that the same quay where Harold Jarl (as Andrea, or was it Serenissima) tied up on returning to Norway some 12 years ago?
Was that 12 years ago already? WOW! Time flies! Yes, that is where she returned more than a decade ago - what an amazing day that was!
Mmm, I'm not sure about 12 years. Probably less. The best reference material is no longer available ... your very own CV forum. 😁😎😍
@@Hertog_von_Berkshire Yes, it was a great place for its time. Miss it sometimes, miss that it was such a friendly place.
The article "Serenissima - Harald Jarl reborn" (by a certain someone) reminds me just how magnificent the Gusavian decor was. Must be some of the best cabins that ever sailed.
@@Hertog_von_Berkshire Perhaps a bit eclectic by some standards, but loved by many.
Amadea has beautiful lines, especially the broken diagonal just behind the bridge, spanning five decks (3:50).
Indeed, she is a beauty at least in my book. The broken diagonal you pointed out actually reminds me a little of the former Royal Princess in her original lay out.
They can make them bigger, but it dosn't mean it looks better
Absolutely. I agree on that one. Imagine the SS Norway next to this one, she would have been tiny.
@@CaptainsVoyage i would like it when they build a NORWAY 2 ,like QM2. A cruisevessel with the looks of a oceanliner
@@thijsvink4657 Sadly, I think that would never happen, but if it did happen, that would be a absolutely be awesome. Even a modern cruise ship with tons of details from the Norway, like a tribute, would be really nice to see. I have seen some suggestions by people making renderings, and some of them are really cool.
Happy Summer CAPTAIN.
Thank you very much! The best time of the year!
@@CaptainsVoyage super!
Nice❤❤❤
Thanks 🤗
Nice video ❤❤❤
Many many thanks
that noise is very off-putting
So sorry about that. Should be able to mute it if it's too much of a problem.
My God she is still doing tours? I toured her in '86!
Almost 30 years as a museum, perhaps even more. A lot of people must have been through this sub since then.
this fish eye lense is throwing me off
It's not for everybody I guess.
Vært med på den turen noen ganger 😊
Var ike spenende hver gang. Spesielt første gangen med Royal Viking Sun som en svært ung førstereisgutt.
What are you operating?
A Norwegian roro-passenger ferry. 😊
Beautiful, thank you. I wonder if we will ever see Harald Jarl/Andrea/Serenissima back in service again. I like to think she might, one day, make her way back to Norway and become a permanent museum piece, restaurant, youth hostel or similar. Maybe she could run the coastal route one last time ... in TFDS colours of course.
It would be awesome to see Harald Jarl back, but I'd prefer her in original NFDS colours and with Trondheim written across her stern. At the moment, I do not know the state of the ship or what the plans for the ship is.... but to be bluntly honest, I'm really sceptic to the question whether we'll see her again return to service. She is an old ship, and she needs to be IN CONSTANT USE to prevent decay. I'd like to be proven wrong though, and instead I would prefer seeing her back in service - any kind of service at this point.
@@CaptainsVoyage , I'm pretty certain she was in TFDS colours by the time I sailed in her but yes, NFDS colours would probably be a more logical choice. We had concerns about her condition before - when Andrea was "imprisoned" in Split - and she survived. Hopefully she will also survive this rest period too. If not, then we must simply be grateful for the extra years she was given as Serenissima.
@@Hertog_von_Berkshire We can't do anything else than hope and pray for this one. Structurally, she would be fine because of the massive renovation done to make her Serenissima, but then there are all those tiny bits an pieces that brakes by not being regularly used.... I hope and I pray to see her again in use.
Outstanding! Wonderfully done with unique video footage / angles - really enjoyed watching and look forward my next flight on SAS again in business class.
Thank you very much, very kind of you. SAS Business has always been a solid, good product on my flights. We all might have different opinions and experiences, but all I can say, is that for myself, it has been great.
Nice city! After 5:06, I wonder if there was a drunk bricklayer?😆
San Francisco is a super-nice city, love it there. Never noticed the bricks before you pointed it out.... :-)
❤❤❤ love it
glad you enjoyed rainy day in SF, see you next time-Cap- stay safe.
Thanks 👍 I was worried about the weather but it all turned out perfect. Could not have been any better.
Det ble masse trim på deg. Ser ut som en kul by.
Det ble en lang spasertur ja.. men det må til når man skal se mest mulig på kort tid. :-)
The food looks absolutely fantastic. And I love that shot at 5:38 of the sunlight moving as the plane rolls into a turn.
Didn't leave the flight hungry to put it that way. The sunlight racing across the cabin is really beautiful, haven't been able to capture it in the past. I was prepared this time.
Very beautiful ❤❤
Thank you! 😊
Something we learned in school - California has a Mediterranean climate - hot dry Summers, warm wet Winters.
Pretty much sums up my California-winter experience in San Francisco that day. But, I have to admit that between the showers, it was actually really nice.
Rain is actually very pleasant for people who are not getting enough. A couple of years ago, I uploaded a photo to facebook of on of my bicycles standing in my back garden after a recent rain storm. I expected some criticism but instead a chap in Texas commented "lovely beautiful rain, we haven't had any for months".
Woowwwww
Very wow.
Superb video. Many thanks!
Many thanks! Happy you enjoyed it. An amazing place for sure.
Seldom been in Trondheim during winter, and the red house after 11-12 seconds in the video, was where my daughter lived for a couple of years back in 2018-19 :-D
Summer is for me the clearly preferred season.
Makes me sad how long was it in service
From 1989 until she grounded in October 2022.
🎉🎉🎉🎉❤😮😮😅
I've not been there but know something about its ancient history from a TV docudrama, which depicted events around the big eruption and collapse of Santorini circa 1680 BC.
I'm actually glad I spent a couple of days and nights there, so I that I had the chance to see the place more than I could when visiting with cruise ships on day-visits. I could imagine much of the history by walking around and observing....
Nice, always liked Trondheim :-) This thing with a Christmas Marked would most surely been a better experience and visually appeared better with snow, but as I hate snow..., I have no problems at all with such a market without that white cover :-D Thanks for showing us!👍
It's hard to not like Trondheim, but it's a small city after all. If I had time out of travelling and work, the footage would have included snow too - lots of it. But. the past 2-3 months have been super hectic. The Opera observation wheel was amazing..... so high above the buildings, and you could see it from very far away too. Thank you for looking, and a Happy New Year to you!
Friend were talking about their visit to Santorini just a couple of days ago.
Such an amazing destination.... my Greek holiday videos premiers from today and onwards, hope you will enjoy them, because it's a lovely destination.
Clearly a great city to live in. I like the building at 2:36 .
Yes, that is a great looking building. It used to house a hotel many years ago, and then it was refurbished as offices for an oil company.... now, they have moved out too, and I believe it's still offices. I remember it from my childhood, with a giant neon-light advertisement sign on the roof.
Captain, I didn't realise you were in Trondheim in your childhood. Have you lived there continuously?
@@Hertog_von_Berkshire I have lived so many places, both in Trondheim and abroad. Long story.
Sad. 😞
I was surprisingly fine letting her go, I guess I do not have the same attachment to ferries as I have cruise ships.
Virkelig vemodig. Ble litt tung i brystet her ja. Fantastisk bra produksjon👌
Tusen takk for hyggelig tilbakemelding. Del gjerne videoen videre med andre som kan være interessert.
Nice
nice video
Thanks, appreciated.
@@CaptainsVoyage I can suggest you grow your UA-cam channel?
Hi, I work for South Korean broadcast company tvN. we would like to use your video on our history show. Could you please let me know if we could use an excerpt from it giving the credit to your channel? Thanks :)
Thank you for your request. As long as you credit the channel, yes, you may have my permission.
So Pollux has been delivered!
Yes, indeed-o... both Pollux and Polaris had their maiden voyages in August (2023).
She just spent some extra days in Trondheim, and at Fosen Yard to change one of her electric motors I believe, after it "malfunctioned".
supercalifragilisticexpialidocious 😮
😂😂😂
Ha, I searched "walk and talk" the same minute you posted this. Have a like, sub and comment 👍
hahahahaha... much appreciated, thanks so much!
how r u?~ Captainsvoyage! what a good edition. 💫
Thank you! I’m looking into your channel too, nice work.
Autumn is late in the UK. October has been warm thus far and everytimg is still very green. The forecast promises 0C tonight so the leaves should start turning brown over the next few days.
While southern Norway has received its first snow, we have yet to get a taste of winter. No hurry for me, I hate the winter, and it's not a secret.
As you may remember i do have some intrest of WW2, so when you mentioned "Tirpitz" i had to listen again. Found that mooring place of Tirpitz, also that there is a Tirpitz memorial nearby
I really need to visit the Tirpitz museum some day.
I’m the first person who liked
Nice to see that you have quite speed uphill, so I guess your pump and lungs are fuctioning to 100% :-D Then I see you (Trondheim) face the same problem at a city view point as here in my home town: there are trees in the line og sight! Other than that, thanks for sharing, as I never visited that place, but my daughter did, when she lived in Trondheim 🙂
Thank you so much, Sir!
