TOPIC: PEOPLE OF GREAT FAITH - ENOCH
READ: HEBREWS 11:5-6, GENESIS 5:21-24, JUDE 1:14-15
INTRODUCTION
Enoch is one of the only two men of whom it is explicitly said in the scripture that they walked with God. Noah is the other person (Gen. 6:9). Enoch walked with God during very evil times. He walked with God, but only for 300 years out of the 365 years of his life. For the first 65 years, although he was not living a life of sin, he was not fully surrendered to God at first. We need to walk with God in thought and in deed and be in agreement with him. The writer of Hebrew says “it was by faith that Enoch was taken up to heaven without dying”. What pleases God is simple honest, clean and refreshing relationship with him. He had relationship with God.

There are certain things we must know about the faith of Enoch that made God to show interest in him to the point of taking him away without tasting death.
• Enoch’s faith pleased God.
• Enoch’s faith produced a proper testimony - Heb. 11:5
• Enoch’s faith protected his fellowship with God in a sinful society.
• He proclaimed the second coming of Jesus Christ - Jude 1:14
• He proclaimed judgment to the ungodly - Jude 1:15
• Enoch walked with God - 2 Cor. 5:7

1. Enoch ‘walked with God’. What kind of relationship with God does this quoted word suggest Enoch had?

4. How does, Hebrew 11:6, explain the way the author of Hebrews interprets Enoch in Hebrews 11:5?
CONCLUSION
Just as Enoch walked with God, we need to have a constant companion, get to know Him by immersing ourselves in His word daily, thereby giving us instructions, comforts and strength for the journey of our lives (Psalm 18:2).
