Just one of us, riders, who loves traveling on motorcycles. Welcome aboard if we are sharing the same passion!
A glance to METEORA, Greece adventure. Part 8 Motorcycle adventures.
My trip is getting close to the end and one of the priorities for this trip was to see the monastery of Meteora. I will definitely be back to that place, but when the temperature will be livable for us, Northern people :)

An epic dirt road to Olympus mountains, and only locals know about it. Greece adventure part 7.

I talked to locals and asked for advice on getting as high as possible to Olympus Mountains via dirt road with a motorcycle. One person advised me to go there, and man, did I get the best advice ever? My Greece motorcycle advice is getting to the end, but I fell in love with this country! Ducati DesertX adventures. The second part of DesertX preparation for adventures. A mistake with the bash plate choice. I know I've had to do much better research about it, but still, I could not believe someone would sell a bash plate that could not be mounted separately like a stand-alone unit. Hmm, my bad I guess.

We spend our time wisely and the best time is the one you spend in the garage. So now that is exactly what is happening to me. Ducati DesertX has got a brand new clutch and brake levers, the old broken chain guard was changed and some other little good things were addressed in this part of the video. Enjoy and thank you for being with me!

Hi , congratulations on seeing an visit in AJP. If you wanted a certain engine put in, say the T7 engine. Could they do it??
Hi, Thanks. No, I don't think they would do that because they are making the bikes, not customizing them. They are like a mini factory, not a workshop. But a fun fact- they were considering the T7 engine when the bike was still only on the paper, but that did not work and one reason was the weight.
BRAAAAP! Keep the rubber side up!
When you come again I buy you coffe in Athens and lunch by the sea, after a nice ride !!
Offer accepted! Thanks, man! Enjoy your country, it is an awesome one!
I love my DDX. It teaches me all the time how capable of a bike it is.
@@paulchristensen6722 It is much more capable than I would ever gonna be able to use it. And that leaves a lot of room for learning.
Embrace the struggle. Way to grind it out sir!
@@paulchristensen6722 Thanks 👍!!!
Good evening !!!If of course you want to make a subscription to the channel, thank you very much.
Looks like you didn't pull and clean the oil screen per the service manual. It's the huge bolt behind the exhaust in line with the filter.

Salut encore des paysages magnifiques, belles prises de vues avec ton drone( quel est le modèle?) combien de temps a duré ce voyage et distance. est tu content de cette Ducati? a bientot
Hi there! Thank you very much! Because of the drone rules and regulations I had to downgrade to this DJI mini 4 pro. But I like the fact that it has a follow-me function. It's not strong enough in the wind, but it's good for not professional shots :) This trip was one month long, but I spent just three weeks in Greece because it takes almost a week to get to Greece from Bergen, Norway. DesertX is an awesome bike. The main thing I love is the way it looks, and that is the most important aspect of the bike you own, right? If I could change one thing it would be a Desmo engine, cause that is more expensive to service and it's not an easy task to do if you need to do a valve adjustment and replace the timing belts. Otherways is a very capable bike and looks like after changing 5 bikes in 4 years this one will stay with me for a very long. Cheers from Norway!
@@nemoltu To tell the truth, I'm not a fan of Ducati mechanics, which are not practical if you do long trips... the belts have to be changed every 30,000 km on this model, so it's okay, but I'm not convinced of the interest of this type of bike which remains heavy to take on difficult technical terrain (although it is not representative of an entire trip). I remain in favor of staying on a light bike like the AJP PR7, I have had it for 1 year and 11,000 km. Where I agree with you is on the beauty of this bike.
@@atprodT700 I completely agree with you about the mechanical stuff. ~~But, to be honest, how often do we take our bikes for trips that last more than 30K kilometers, or even more than 10K? As I said, I am really not a fan of a desmo system on this engine and I'm not even trying to say differently. But looks like Ducati getting rid of this engine. As I saw- there is a new "normal" V2 engine is coming. But nowadays bikes are not that easy to work on, and the "big service" intervals are not making it any easier. Even PR7, as you probably know, I did an 11.5K kilometers trip in two months on it, and it already needed a valve adjustment after 10K kilometers and it will need timing chain replacement with another valve clearance check. So we are tied up in this loop. If I had to make a choice for a new bike now, I would probably go with a Honda Africa Twin, not an Adventure Sports version, and probably a 2018 model. Bur DesertX, the way I've set it up now is as good as the AT now, just well this Desmo system :D :D. But I will try to make a video about the Desmo Service DIY on this channel. For the AJP PR7- love it! Still have it, but no long tarmac riding on it anymore, DesertX is a better choice for me, but no Greece TET for sure :D
@@nemoltu For the PR7 the valve clearance moves up to 10000/12000km you can do it yourself then you are quiet up to 30000km. Having spoken with many guys who own PR7s the distribution chain holds up to 30000km minimum. everything is easy on the PR7 from driving to mechanics (anywhere in the world you will find a mechanic capable of working on this rustic and simple engine). of course, on the road you will be more comfortable with a twin cylinder. DUCATI will gain a lot of customers by adopting another engine. according to the many videos I have seen on your channel, indeed the 2018 HONDA AFRICA TWIN will meet your expectations.
I sold my 2018 Africa Twin after 3 years to purchase my Desert X. I found the AT too top heavy as I have a back problem. The Desert X looks amazing as you say but is also an outstanding machine on all terrains and feels gazelle like by comparison. I also see myself owning it for a very long time ! Love your output, keep it up and ride safe.
Thanks for sharing this Love it will need to do Greek TET in the future 😊
You should! Just don't do it in the summer please :)
That was a nice trip, Nemo. Thanks you share it with us!
@@Kostas_Theologos Thank you for watching 🤜🤛👌
Thanx for your advice.👍🏻 Have fun with your future trips.
I found Raximo handle bars, I’ll take a look at it. My problem is, my arms are too “short” when I make a turn. So I need a handle bar coming more towards me than the oem handlebar. Maybe I look for handlebar risers with a little bent.
Then the ones in the link are not gonna fit you. They have even less bent than OEM ones. Have you tried to bend/turn yours down towards you more? There are risers with the offset like one up and one back or similar that should help you, but be careful, cause that could bring it way too close to you for standing up position. Good luck!
Hi Nemo, I’ve got your message. Thanx
Good, check the Flexbars from the USA I think that is what I will put for next season. Pricey, but looks very interesting.
Hi Nemo, nice ride in Greece. Btw in which details your steering bar differs from the oem steering bar? And who is the maker/brand of your “golden” steering bar?
Thank you! The handlebars are made by Raximo. I will try to put the link. They are quite different from the OEM ones. A little bit straighter with a little bit less bend in them. But they are thicker towards the inside, if that makes any sense, which makes the inner holes narrower and you would need different inner bolts if you wanna retrofit Barkbusters or even OEM plastic handguards, which could be ordered from Barkbusters, or even from the same website I put the link in here. Another thing- they are not predrilled so that will need to be done with precision. I will add the link with a separate answer, just in case UA-cam hides this answer. Please let me know if you can see it in the answer below?

hi, one question about the metal oil screener. once i found a service video where this part is located on the right hand side, hard to reach behind the header. your oil screener is on the left?? has that location changend over the model years? thx
Hey, sorry for the late response. There are two oil screens and they are on both sides. But one of them is very hard to reach and not really worth doing, cause it's always clean. Just do it with a big service, that's more than enough.
@@nemoltu great info! thx a lot!
@@randomnummba7478 you are welcome 🤜🤛
OMG...you are destroying your bike on rides like this 😢...shame on you !!!
Sorry for hurting your feelings :)
Some people recommend the Crosscall T4 7" tablet which is sturdy 'military spec' equipment with a long battery life if not hard-wired, glove touch screen, bluetooth, good gps, DMD2 compatible. Now that this T4 model is no longer current you can buy them second hand for around 100€. The OBDII bluetooth plug and handlebar BT controller and demountable support cradle are obviously extra.
After I tried the Samsung Tab Active on my DesertX this year, I plan to get a DMD2 tablet and an extra cradle for my PR7 to swap between both bikes. And the problem will be solved. Thanks, mate!
I believe it's called the PR7 because it was originally intended to have a 660cc Yamaha engine comparative with 700cc class, but they changed plans and it uses the much lighter SWM/Husqvarna 600cc single-cylinder, water-cooled engine equipped with a double overhead cam and 4 valves and Athena fuel injection. It's one of those idiosyncrasies!
I remember, that I've seen that story in some video. Maybe Pavlin was talking about it? Thanks for clearing that up.
Enjoy our beautiful Country!!!!!!
Thanks much!
Cards in greece are accepted everywhere by law. When they say they don't accept, they usually are tax evading and want cash. Rarely do actual connectivity issues exist with the POS.
Hei, that's why I never had any problems with cards in your country. I developed that fear of cards from Romania and Bulgaria, there was such a big problem with cards. It was one day I spent 3 hours stopping by my route trying to find a place to get some food in restaurants, but they did not take cards anywhere

What about white clothes gear 😂
After a few days of riding dirt roads, you look like someone was dragging you on that road not you riding it. I never wear bright clothes on my long trips. But I definitely agree with you. Did not expect that it would be 40+ over there, even in the mountains.

Your videos are amazing. And the heat man. How you manage?
Thank you! The heat was something extraordinary. It was wearing me out more and more every day. The only way to ride it is by drinking water every few minutes or so. But I still could not do that every day, had to take some breaks from riding. Cheers!

It was very hot in Seoul-Korea not too long ago. I wish I had traveled on a lighter and more fuel-efficient bike.
Heat and offroading does not go very well together. I did learn that this summer.
I did that TET part two years ago with my GS. Next time when you go uphill and it is too steep, stall the bike and let it roll downhill reverse but use the clutch for braking the rear wheel. That helps a lot. Enjoy your further trip and best regards.
Thanks for the tip! Best regards!

You seem to have a lot of trouble going there with the Desert X. Why didn't you take the AJP?
@@AdvenjarBinks The reason I went to Greece was to get a new gas tank from Aurora Rally in Athens. I ordered it way back in April and decided to go there on my bike and get it swapped by them. My initial plan was to go there in September, but I was forced to take my vacation in the middle of July and ended up going through this heat wave. Thank you! You too! And thanks for watching, my little adventure. Cheers!
That is a cool looking bike, nearly as good looking as the T7 world Raid😜 A lot of time on the road I guess the Ducati would be more enjoyable with the better road handling and bigger engine. How do you rate the wind protection on the bike ? And does the engine vibrate much ? Great video.
World Raid is an awesome bike even if I would go for the extreme version :) For my Ducati, I would go back to the standard seat instead of this, rally version, comfort level is very noticeable. But yes, I love the engine and the power it delivers when I need to have fun. The story changes in the forest roads, then I would look to the Tenere. The wind protection is quite good for me, but that also has to do with my Klim helmet. It does not buffet at all, but it was worse with a different helmet, I would say that depends on the design of the helmet's peak. I don't feel the engine vibrations, maybe because I am used to 2 cylinder bikes. It's not as smooth as 4 4-cylinder sport tourer for sure :), but it's not as rough as my AJP PR7 either.
