    This was tried and failed along with Replacing the throttle body, TB sensor, Checking grounds, TPS again, Gas pedal and sensor, TCM, and even the main computer. Running a ground wire from the battery to the TCM helped for a while. Changing the battery seems to last the longest amount of time but it will come back. If anyone has a real fix for this it would be appreciated. This truck has been to numerous different mechanics with no long-lasting fix.

      Mine was the throttle body, initially I purchased an oem replacement and the code came back, I caved took it to the dealer had them replace the TB with a factory one they performed the relearn process and cleared the code and it never came back. I hate to admit it but with GM sometimes you have to take them to the dealer and or at the very least use factory replacement parts and unfortunately have the techs perform the relearn process

    Has the reduced engine power mode came back at all ever since? I am currently experiencing an issue. Same code, my truck will do it when its below half temp or when its below 40 degrees outside. I just pull over, shut it off & turn it back on & goes away. But will eventually come back. I just recently cleared the code, tomorrow I will do what you did in this video.

    • @thedadsection4489
      @thedadsection4489 4 роки тому

      For my situation it’s been about 9 months and the code/ reduced engine power mode has not come back on. I drive my truck daily to work and back. I hope this works for you, but keep in mind it could be a number of things. When I first looked in to what it could be it seemed like it could’ve been a number of things. But basic troubleshooting will tell us to check the harness and electrical connections. I hope your fix is as simple as mine was since it saves both time and money! Good luck!!

  • @Archangel0804
    @Archangel0804 4 роки тому

    So basically you didn't do a fucking thing except disconnect the harness and then reconnect this. Makes no sense. How long did the fix last? One day?

    • @thedadsection4489
      @thedadsection4489 4 роки тому

      I'm sorry this seemed to upset you but newer trucks are computers. Sometimes all you have to do is disconnect the connector and reconnect it and it could have just been poor connection. In regards to how long this fix has lasted me, I have not had the same issue arise since doing this. This is a legit way to troubleshoot and should always be the first thing to do so that if it's as simple as reconnecting a harness then you don't have to waste more time and money.

    • @Archangel0804
      @Archangel0804 4 роки тому

      @@thedadsection4489 Hmmm...I'll take your word for it, but harnesses with a retention clip RARELY have this problem unless you have corrosion building up in this area. NOT "Upset" at all with your claim whatsoever. Surprised would be the better adjective. That said, I have a business with a FLEET of older pickup trucks , 4 of which are GM 2003 to 2007 Sierras and Silverados. Have 2 trucks which had same problem which is apparently a common problem. One truck was fixed a year ago. Replaced entire throttle body, and no repeat issues. Second one just had this problem about a week ago. Tried your suggested method along with cleaning the entire throttle body with brake cleaner and a toothbrush. It fixed the issue temporarily, made the truck run with a much better, very smooth idle, and also cleared the code until the problem returned exactly ONE day later. Just replaced the Throttle position Sensor a few days ago. Problem solved. Running perfect. Just don't see how disconnecting and reconnecting a harness would do anything permanent, but like I said, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt

    • @thedadsection4489
      @thedadsection4489 4 роки тому

      I appreciate your feedback! I was honestly surprised that this worked for me as well. I just did the first basic step in troubleshooting and it just happened to be where my issue was. I was fully prepared to swap out the throttle body but like I said I guess I was lucky this go around! I guess a more appropriate title for the video would be about how troubleshooting steps can fix an engine code.

      @@thedadsection4489 Gotcha. I never seem to have good luck like that. LOL It's always something with higher mileage vehicles regardless of the make. You hear People talk about Toyota all of the time being so reliable. Well......I've had just as many problems with Toyotas as anything else. It is all relative. Toyota loyalists think it is exceptional quality if their Toyota makes it to 200K miles.....LOL. 200K is like an everyday occurrence on these GM Trucks. I bought two GM trucks...BOTH of them with over 170000 miles to start with, and have them YEARS with little to no trouble....mostly knick-knacky issues. A bad Pittman arm and Idler Arm...perhaps an AC Compressor dies..... O2 sensors.....a wheel bearing hub assembly ....Throttle Position Sensor.... Stuff like this I average 325000 before anything serious occurs where big money needs to be spent to correct, and usually by that point they look bad and are pretty torn up, so we just dispose of them at that point

    I was hoping to give my BF a lot more of a heads up as to what he should expect and how the flow of the day or night might go... air mattress, pump, pillow, blanket etc. clothes and hyg. Are essential and predictable.

    • @thedadsection4489
      @thedadsection4489 4 роки тому

      Hey Esperanza, I actually couldn't agree more with you. Since this video, my wife gave birth and there is so much that I did not expect and so much that I want to fix from this video. I am actually gonna do another video outlining what I would do differently and what I would pack differently. To give you a quick overview I would say that yes the hygiene products are obvious but I would say that the number of clothes that he packs should be an extra outfit or two in order to accommodate for unpredictable change. I would say that he should bring a coffee cup with a top so that he can have good amounts of coffee and to have it double as a water container so that he can fit ice inside of it instead of a water bottle and having to cram it through the top. He should bring a camera/ video camera/ phone in order to document every step of the way and so that y'all can look back on these amazing memories. Finally, I would say if you have dogs, I would bring a blanket to wrap your baby in and let his smell get on the blanket so that you can have either your BF or another individual introduce that smell to them in order to get them ready for your babies arrival. There are some other things that I would pack that I will include in the updated video. I hope that this helped and that when I post my updated video that you will get some good information out of it.
