Im familiar with that alarm, oil pump! For sure! And i would put in a new water pump impeller as well. Water pump should be replaced at least every second season. Great boat for a freebie!

Your outboard has two thermostat 1 at the top of each head

Mix your gas and oil. I have had many 2 stroke engines that the oil injection was not working properly and just used premix. Your getting too much oil.

The motor is getting put into safe mode when it drops RPM. It's either getting hot or not getting oil. If the impeller is new then you may have s stuck thermostat that won't open at temp. Easy fix. Or you are not getting oil. First thing try is loosening the cap on your oil reservoir. If not vented properly you can create a vacuum. After that remove the line going form the oil pump to the motor, turn it on and see if you have oil. And yes you can hurt it by not having oil but you may be doing that already.

I used to live in that area. Fished all over the place and could take you to a few spots where I could put you on 40+ Redfish a day. Did A LOT of Scalloping. It started out being a lot of fun, then there would be so many boats it just made it difficult and on my last trip we had a 12' tiger Shark go by us.

You guys remind me of me except I was getting taught on a small Nebraska lake and run aground in the first 20 minutes. The guy that was "teaching" me when I asked what to do when the shore was getting close said "I don't know, all we did was go downwind drinking beer until we couldn't go any farther, turned on the engine and motored back to do it again" so into the mud we went where I got a sailing manual out to see what I was supposed to do

Are you getting sparks from the spark plugs 3 things you need fuel air n ignition

Fuel pump might need a kit. The carburetors should be stripped and soaked in the correct cleaner then put kits in them. Don’t mess with the linkage adjustments. Set air mixture and idle.

Likely has a fuel solenoid.

You guys found the throttle with that little lever but somewhere there should be a choke . On my boat, when you turn the key you can also push in the key as you turn it which activates the choke . Like I said , somewhere there should be a choke . Look around that control box there might be some kind of label / lettering stating " Choke " That buzzer will always come on as you start it , it's the "high temp" alarm if you hear it as it's running it's Too Hot , Check the impeller. Also , if you quickly blow some air into telltale / water peeing outlet with a air gun should free up any dirt inside it , short bursts of air .

My other half is inheriting 4 boats, 2 at the slip, and 2 in the yard of her fathers house. We will have to get rid of these because we really don't want to have to pay the slip fees of 2k a month, its a waste of money, and I have no interest in using them.

just out of curiosity... Just what do you think pumping the throttle lever is doing for you? It is a two stroke, it does not have injection or any such thing. You have a fuel delivery problem at 30 min in.

lol those gears are perfect lol. You have to learn how tro put an outboard in gear. you do it all at once, not slow grinding movements. Just slap it in.

You think the yamaha 70hp would fit?

Clean the carbs.

Push it in gear faster. You don’t slip a merk into gear. It grinds shift dogs. Pop into gear fast. That’s how those motors are. Nothing wrong with it. It’s the driver.
