I used to love Austin, north and south, but I can’t wait to move. Way too many crazy drivers, there is a bad police shortage. I’m hesitant to stop at convenient stores early in the morning because I don’t want to be asked for money by people hanging out in the parking lot. Friday I saw a guy that was on the zombie drug, tranq. It’s expensive, people are rude, it’s not Austin anymore.

These homes are ok. Life is more than pretentious cr@p.

I’d say south congress is close enough to downtown to be part of it. I feel like south Austin start where all the shops on south congress end.

I bought a house in North Austin 6 years ago because it was actually affordable. Simple as that.

Lakeway restaurants are very family friendly. Think Margaritas on a patio AND a playground for the kids!

I remember living in Austin, Texas in the late 60s and the very early 70s and all there was at Lake Travis was the lake, period! There was a swimming hole people called Hippy Hollow!

I find it very interesting that you spoke about the most urban parts of South Austin but only the suburban areas of North Austin. Neighborhoods like Hyde Park, Crestview, and Clarksville contain many of the same vibes as those urban South Austin neighborhoods. And they have been consistently doing so for longer

Manor is very nice. It has a very "small town" feeling, with historic buildings, but still just a short drive to downtown Austin. But dense housing projects are being built around Manor.

This is BY FAR The best description of where to live I have seen. Incorporating the map makes it work so much better. I am surprised it isn't grabbing more views. The Algorithm needs to do a better job. This isn't just some Realtor Rambling on like the other 5 I saw today. WATCH THIS PEOPLE. And I do NOT know this person. There seems to be a lot of interest in reasons why people are now leaving Austin. i look at home Values today 2024 and they are nearly DOUBLE what they were in 2018-2019 and people (seller) are now living in Denial... these prices either drop of they are locked in.

Old Lakeway has disappeared unfortunately. It’s just filling up with more and more people from out of state, taxes continue to rise. Would not be my choice.

You forgot to mention that when walking and exercising through the greenbelts, EVERYONE smiles and says "hi". That doesn't happen the closer you get to Austin. This is a really "friendly" place.

Great video. We moved to Temple about a year ago for healthcare jobs. We wanted to be close to Austin without dealing with the traffic and crazy housing prices. Now we work here on weekdays and pretty much spend every Saturday in Austin.

Raleigh is dead. I love Austin. it's very similar to my hometown (Nashville, TN) with size and population. Raleigh is tiny compared to Austin and Nashville. Raleigh is very very very boring.

South has a lot to do, but traffic is bad! while north has just the domain, but the north side is on the rise. A “2nd downtown” is in the works. But south / north has nothing on East Austin!

Need to highlight the amazing Mueller Community in east Austin.

North Austin is trashy and vapid. Overall, it’s best to live closer to your job.

I agree. I dig Lakeway so much because of the visual vibe that reminds me a bit of south OC CA in the late 90s (Terracotta roofs, lots of rolling hills and new construction, the upscale/waterlife vibe) and there are places adjacent that allow you some variety with access to all the pluses of Lakeway life. And many of the downsides of living in today's noisy, overcrowded Austin aren't an issue in Lakeway (thank goodness) while the pluses are a short distance away. I often think of moving there and living a fun, quiet, happy lifestyle.

When I was at Bowie high school in the late 80s, Circle C Ranch was the neighborhood to live in. But I have not been there since.
