Pokémon Crystal: The Ghost of Glitch City
Переглядів 319 тис.7 років тому
Messing around with the greyscale NPC you can find out of bounds in Pokémon Crystal. Lloyd Johannessen has pointed out that her name and party are used by a female Ace Trainer in the Dragon's Den. Here's the GS codes: WTW 9100FAC2 9100FBC2 9100FCC2 9100FDC2 Battle 010633D2 0100C7C2
We need a let's glitch Pokémon gold silver and crystal. Also solid question, why is the screen stuck with you too close to the right?
5:07
Her name is GYMPOKÉMART
You are very very VERY skilled Im not gonna lie. W trainer
I'm on trying this for myself, it looks like everyone has a different experience or it's based on the emulator/cartridge you're using. So far my sprite dissapears, the game gets HEAVILY corrupted, my save file becomes corrupted too, I get soft locked by just walking and no other character has been found yet. Still exploring so I'll edit this comment if I discover something new!
1:37 is this how Pokemon are made the glitch City girl just kind of says some stuff then you turn into a Pokemon
shes more than an emulation inaccuracy to me!!!!

This video is amazing, I can't believe I only just found it. Personal favorite was the four Miseries (Miserys? Miseries?) flying around with a bunch of Dr. Boosters. Your text also made the video even funnier!!
I must admit, your work with these romhacks is very impressive. I don't know if this is a good place to ask about it, but I am kinda curious about learning how to code homebrew games for some videogame consoles, like these Pokémon romhacks. I mean, I've never heard before about people creating romhacks by just modyfing the save files instead of the rom files, and that's one of the reasons that made your work really amazing tho. Could you please tell me where could I find some good tutorials about it? I've already found a few tutorials, but my first impression was that they were a little complicated to me. But maybe I should give them just another chance, I dunno.
i'd say that a good place to look, if you want to learn the way _i_ did, would be the pokered disassembly ( github.com/pret/pokered ), which has all of the code and data that you'd need to compile a ROM of pokémon red from scratch. of course, you can then modify that code and data to get the game to do... whatever else you want it to do. you could also just yoink the project's structure, and write your own program in its hollowed-out shell; that's what i did for my NASU port. since then i've also learned about my friend isso's gb-starter-kit ( github.com/ISSOtm/gb-starter-kit ), which seems like a much more ideal starting point for a project like this; only issue is, i haven't tried it myself, so i dont really have any personal experience with it. similarly, i havent read it myself, but the gbdev community's tutorial ( gbdev.io/gb-asm-tutorial/index ) is what i'd recommend if you want to get into gameboy homebrew, though thats pretty much just because i know that the people who wrote it know their shit, for lack of a better phrase. i really wish you luck with gameboy development!! i personally find it very fun whenever i can get a gameboy to do something unexpected, hehe
Great job. I just like more the cry of White Hand by 7G06.
duuuuuuuuuuude!! this is awesome!! I upload the save to my original cart and works!! hahah
How do i get the ghost girl to appear? I used the wtw cheat to get to the glitch city, but shes not there
You need an old version of VBA
Tried so hard to replicate this but nothing happened.
Were you using VBA? Some emulator inaccuracy allows the errant object data to be loaded and displayed on VBA and VBA alone, as far as I know. I'm working on a video that, among other things, shows how to get more accurate emulators to display Glitch City's residents. It's slow going, though, so I'm not going to promise an upload any time soon.
@@Cello2WC I used Mgba and then i also tried VBA. Nothing. I even tried the japanese version of crystal and version 1.1 and a bunch of different save files. And she straight up doesnt appear
same I tried to go there but the ghost girl was not there
Hey, I'm learning about Pokemon Red's inner workings and making use of ACE items, but no amount of searching is telling me how the hell you manage to make a save file run arbitrary code from starting it up. It's really satisfying and I want to see how I could do this. Do you think you could make an explanation video or smth that could explain where to start?
hey, im on my way to bed rn so i dont exactly have the brainpower for an in-depth explanation, but the short answer is that the current map script (something like wMapScriptPtr in the disassembly iirc) is saved, and can be edited with ACE or a debugger. i just set it to $DA80, where i have some code pre-written, and the game happily starts running it on file load. i could go more in-depth in the morning if you'd like, ive been meaning to post source code anyway. in the meantime, some other places to look for similar effects would be mrcheeze's "mew virus" and thezzazzglitch's april fools saves, both of which should have source code posted.
alright, source code's been added to the description if you'd like to take a look around; ill warn you, though, its _a lot_ messier than i remembered it being. so... i wish you luck in deciphering whatever the hell i was up to back then. drive.google.com/file/d/1ERhoUXd9EmwYTWrv6uMawTgWG4ADD933/view?usp=sharing
The unknown writings spells crystal
How did you do this??? This is awesome :)))
I don't know what it is, but Blue's face at the end was one of the creepiest things I've seen in Pokemon Horror game. Well done
khebab
Walls are for nerds! (Abuses physics engineer and clips through wall)
Gsc is my favorite game because it's super mysterious and has a lot of hidden content alongside with my favorite pokemon being inside That's not really something i can tell for its remake I was wondering are you going to make a new video of it where perhaps you play on real hardware or an accurate emulator?
I am, in fact! Progress has admittedly been very slow, since it's been much more editing-intensive than previous videos, _and_ I'm learning to use a whole new editing software (Blender) on top of that. And, admittedly, I've been _real_ distracted by a frankly absurd amount of real-life stuff... But!! Progress _is_ happening!! Just!! Very slowly!!
@@Cello2WC cool
All of this is possible with ONLY SAVEFILES!? I just found this now (yeah I'm quite late sadly) and I wish I found this sooner 'cause holy shit, this is actually incredible, actual creepypastas made reality and playable on the vanilla games, I love it so much! You did amazing on all 3 of these, they're a technical marvel. I tried all 3 on DS' GameYob emulator and they all behaved as shown, this would be incredible to play on original carts with a flasher to get the save in! Sadly these doesn't seem to work on the 3DS VC titles, I heard they handle memory management differently so ACE like this is probably not possible on those. And I really wish you eventually keep doing the Misfortune one. It's definitely the one I'm most amazed with, being able to hold so much stuff like sprites and music on the savefile was something I did not expect for a Misfortune recreation, really loyal on how you find this game in the creepypasta! Tho I understand that one would be hard af to do fully inside a 32 Kb save, so I get if it's just, impossible at the end of the day. The fact that it exists like this already is more than enough!! Keep the great work, even if you're not currently active with videos atm. Can't wait to see what you cook whenever you get to upload again, I'll be subscrubung for sure!! PD: The Buried Alive savefile has my actual name, Alex. That's incredible, extra point for inmersion!
Comically creepy. I was honestly laughing a few times.
That trainer is Cooltrainer Cara from the Dragon's Den. The game arbitrarily launched that trainer battle, it's nothing unique.
im a bit late but this is absolutely INSANE that it's all just via saves. god. i just wish i could go back in time, just dump these saves on random cartridges. thats pretty evil but can you imagine? imagine in 2007 a video coming up with one of these saves and they can "prove" it's on their real cartridge. i have one of those joeyjoebag whatevers i cant remember the name of, and im debating fishing it out and dumping one of these saves on my copies. amazing work
2:51 EGG CORR-IGOR
i kinda wanna put her in a rom hack
"Technically not corruption since all of the data is still intact it's just moved around." That's... exactly what real time corruptor does. Nightmare Engine's description says "Replaces or edits values"
What song at 3:09
Burned Tower
@@ongakuwotabeta thanks!
Poison Barb Cara as her trainer name Gym leader sprite (Jasmine?) Seadra and x2 Horsea (which are claimed to have poisonous barbs) Burned Tower theme and string text?! Ofc this is due to emulation faults but still... Cool
After all this time...found the video that made me terrified of the GSC burned tower theme when i was younger...
1:32 “aa?B?????????????C?????????” truly inspiring words
Itd be cool if u did your own ver of strangled red
I love how poor emulation allows these eerie glitches to just happen, Gen I we have the true crys in Yellow and Gen II we have... this. Kinda makes me wonder how much innacurate emulation can change the glitches or even make new ones. Also it's really interesting that it uses the unused winning theme after you defeated the NPC.
This is incredible! I really hope you finish misfortune someday, it looks amazing so far
シオンタウン

You should definitely come back to this, or glitches like this! Even if its a result of poor emulation, its fascinating!
i'm actually working on editing this video's sequel at this very moment! i have no idea when it'll be done, cause its a _long_ one, AND the style i'm using is much more editing-intensive, AND i'm using blender instead of imovie to edit so i've got a whole new program to get used to. so progress is slow, but i _am_ working on it!!
@@Cello2WC exciting! Reminds me of when I saw someone make a sequel to the many cruise of female symbol! And the Franz UA-cam taking up the lets glitch series! I see a sort of glitch documentary resurgence on the rise! I even hope to start documenting gen 1 glitches myself using my two copies of Pokemon blue on the system!
I love how the red was never Seadra's shiny form and yet I once had a dream about finding a shiny Seadra with that color scheme.
You know in retrospect, Buried Alive wouldn't been THAT much of a stretch to be in the game. Like design wise it isn't too insane or above an E rating, Earthbound and Dragon Quest infact had actual zombies which arguably looked more gross. The Game Over screen of course wouldn't been a thing but I totally could've seen Pokemon in their first game having the topic of zombies or a ghost pokemon controlling a corpse
Ahh(!)
2:11 5:51 yeah i think the game trying to tell Red to stop smoking weeds. Bro did too much to the point of hallucinating a girl picking him up 😂
> Goes out of bounds > *Champion theme plays*
Blue tears, that's an interesting one...
When it was different.
can buried alive run on a pokemon blue rom? i have a copy of blue that i want to load this onto, and i've heard from other commenters that blue tears can run on a red rom
The last rom hack kinda looks like a legend of Zelda game
god i missed this i wrote a creepypasta about her when i was like. 8
