You have reached the UA-cam channel home of the Viking Photo Program at Walt Whitman HS in Bethesda, MD. We are a traditional wet darkroom analog film program. We have four levels of photography that range from Photo 1 (Intro) all the way up to AP Photo (Advanced Placement). Our students learn the basics of film photography in Photo 1 and continue it all through the program. Upper level classes tend to use more digital photography but still shoot film right up until graduation!
Our classes are 42 minutes long so while many of you may develop/print differently than us please keep in mind that we are working with serious time constraints and therefore mix and use chemicals a little differently than most. Buy Film Not Megapixels!

In this video Clare walks us through how to make a contact sheet as well as how to properly drain a print. It's important to know that f/8 for 5 seconds is a general starting point for properly exposed negatives. For maximum accuracy you can test strip the contact sheet or adjust your exposure based on the overall exposure of your negatives (over = add time, under = reduce time).
