If you are in a country prepared for quakes, do not run. Stayeaway from glasses and stuff that can falneover you, and stay calm. Trust the building and wait until the movement stops. Panicked people falling or stomping over other people is far more dangerous than the quake itself. If you are NOT in a place prepared for quakes, do not run. Walk away from stuf that could fall, and, if possible, try to get to an open space outside. Otherwise place yourself close to the strongest pillar you can access. Here in Chile most buildings are very wobbly and quake resistant, but there still exist some ancient mudbrick construction that is quite brittle and extremely heavy. Staying inside one of these adobe buildings during a strong quake is a death sentence. So, as always, it depends. Inform yourself, and always prepare for the possible natural disasters that could affect your home and working places.

Real story, true story: Many years ago, when I was working in fast food, I was told about the whole issue of bulk-bought cleaning compound concentrates. Yes, the cat friend was sad. In a similar but somewhat less heavy incident here, our cat of many years passed months ago and we're still adjusting to not having any cats (for the first time in over 38 years). Our friend Marie dropped off a poinsettia for the Christmas holidays. We let it dry a great deal but realized it's *real* (again, for the first time in decades as you can't trust a cat around a live poinsettia) in time for it to survive.
