Had to put the car in reverse to fit it but it did the trick to align properly, thanks for your video!
Got it replaced through extended warranty at the dealership
This part isn’t considered wear and tear item? We also have extended warranty on ours but not sure that they cover wear and tear items
Thanks for showing me that
Hi, Thank you for your helpful video! I have a question about a detail you mentioned at the end. You attached a round part to the engine mount using an 8mm wrench. What exactly is that part? I have a Volvo XC90 (2016 model), but I don’t see any such round part on my car. Is it specific to certain versions of the vehicle, or is it only required for some models? Thank you in advance for your response! Best regards, Vladi
@vovczik hi it's just a weight. From my understanding it's on 2016 and up. Probably for anti vibration.
Thank you! Dealer wanted almost $500 to change this on 2022 xc90. What a scam for 3 bolts! Great work showing this!
@@Ruz4life your welcome. New video for sparks plugs coming soon!
By the way the part and replacement procedure are exactly the same for 2021 XC60. It would be nice to update the title so that other people could find this easier. Btw, the part at the dealership would cost you $180.10 nowadays. For parts and service, this would cost you almost $345.
You got it.
Thanks man!I just changed my cabin filter after watching your video😀...I didn't have to go to dealership
You are welcome.
Thanks for the video! Threw it in within 10 minutes, thanks to the simplification.
@@JBailey36 you are welcome.
You do not use anti-seize on NGK spark plugs. From the manufacturer's website: -- 5 Things You Should Know About Spark Plugs 1. Anti-seize NGK spark plugs feature trivalent plating. This silver or chrome-colored finish on the threads is designed to provide corrosion resistance against moisture and chemicals. The coating also acts as a release agent during spark plug removal. NGK spark plugs are installed at the factory dry, without lubrication or anti-seize. Anti-seize can act as a lubricant, altering torque values up to 20 percent, increasing the risk of spark plug thread breakage and/or metal shell stretch. Thread breakage can sometimes involve removing the cylinder head for repair. Metal shell stretch changes the heat rating of the spark plug and can result in serious engine damage caused by pre-ignition. Do not use anti-seize or lubricant on NGK spark plugs. It is completely unnecessary and can be detrimental.
Thanks for the info, very helpful. Do you think using dielectric grease is necessary ?
@@ocean694the manufacturer states not to use it. I’d follow the manufacturer’s recommendation.
I have a 2017 T6 momentum and hole on the replacement part did not line up for my 15mm bolt, did anybody else run into this problem?
@@dalbirlidder6679 send me a picture and whats going on so i can help. Sgtmammoth4@gmail.com.
I had to have my wife put the engine in reverse to get the 15mm bolt to line up.
Ive got a rattle coming from the top end of the motor. Torque arm mount is definitely bad, but the rattle almost sounds closer to the engine/head. Did yours have a rattle at all?
@bobbyayers3034 it did not have a rattle
Bummer you didn't hold them side by side for a comparison. I find the bi-metal construction with what looks like dynamic dampers attached on the original to be interesting and I wonder why that we deleted in the redesign.
Thanks for the video 🎉
Your welcome
Thanks for the video and link to the part on FCPEuro! I just replaced this with my 15 year old son helping me on our 2018. Trying to teach him how to save money and do it yourself.
Glad to help. Brakes coming soon.
Great video! Thank you,
Thank you so much for this informative video. Did you have to lift the engine in any way to replace to torque mount? I'd like to replace mine , in the same manner, when my part arrives.
@brittanydelva5020 I did not lift the engine at all
Proper torque is 13 ft lbs.
I have that in the description
How do I replace the upper control arms on one of these
I'll try to do a video on this very soon
What would be your symptoms of a blown torque rod? Other than visual inspection, what would you be seeing in the car while driving?
Well in my opinion, probably not a whole lot. But you can notice engine bouncing in the bay a bit more.
When your in park and shift and you hear a thunk that’s a bad torque rod
Do you not need to support the engine?
No you dont!
Excellent video. Extra thanks for including the torque specs.
You are welcome!
Just a quick note of THANKS for taking the time and effort to make this video for us! Your completeness of including the torque specs and a link to the updated replacement part was also greatly appreciated. The dealer quoted me $363.34 for the job on my 2019 XC60, which thanks to you , only cost me $128.99 from FCP Euro. The total job took me less than 30 minutes, including the time that it took me to gather up my needed tools, adjust the torque wrenches, do the part swap, zero out my torque wrenches, put all of my tools back, and even to wash my hands....THANKS AGAIN!!!
Glad I could help!
I took my 2019 in for the 40K mile maintenance and it cost me $410 at the Volvo dealership to replace my torn top engine torque mount.
Super expensive.
When I deaccelerate I have a weird noise almost like an engine brake. But when accelerating it goes away, could this be the issue?
I would definitely check that mount and you other engine and transmission mounts. I would open the hood and have someone press the gas the the car is in part and see if the engine move excessively. Tall tale sign that you have bad mounts
Thanks for responding and it turns out it was cracked just like yours. Thanks for the info!
Thanks for the video I just replaced my it seems when I put mine in drive after and pressed on the brake and revved up the motor it seems like the engine still moves a lot I’m unsure if this is normal or not. Do you know how to locate the other engine mounts?
I'll make a video on it .give me a few days
Would a broken torque rod be the reason I have a shutter when getting into the gas pretty good?
In my opinion no, that could be a transmission issue or full explosion of the fuel in the pistons. Just my opinion as I have more turbine engine experience than I do piston.
Were you able to resolve your issue? My 2016 T6 does that when I push the gas from a stop, especially uphill.
You say "it's all on" but important distinction is that the ignition is on not the engine if I remember correctly on volvos
I had to turn the engine on. I tried both ways
@@jonathantolbert4176 Audis and Mercedes engine has to be off and bmw engine has to be running. I couldn't remember for volvos but should have put that in your video
Thanks for this.
Your welcome
Great video...thanks for sharing!
Your welcome got more coming soon.
What does that circular/dome part at the end do? I don't see it on parts diagrams and I don't have my car with me at the moment so I can't try to find a part number on it. I never really thought about it seeing it all assembled, but watching your video it seems like it's just tacked on and not really doing anything?
It's a weight. That's all. Does nothing else!
@@jonathantolbert4176 Thanks. I noticed my torque rod rubber was pretty cracked and the engine was vibrating quite a bit when I was changing the oil. I figured it would be easy to change it myself but I just wanted to check out a video to be sure.
Glad I could help.
Thank you for the video Jonathan! Couldn’t find anything about in a while of searching…
Thanks for the video!
