Motorcycling is always a challenge for me. So is the life I live. The seven months alone through Europe have given me valuable info to start a different life. That is going on now because I am going to sell my house. I want to be free of mortgage and all the costs and maintenance of a house, this last part of my life. I am 72 years old now. I also don't want to be stuck in one place anymore. So I am going to build a motorhome that can also accommodate a motorbike. That will be an X5oo or a Transalp. They both fit well in the van. Thanks for following me and forgive my (still) poor English. It's getting better, thanks to you and your comments. I love reading them and all. You always get a reply from me too. Love is with all of us. A humble klaas. God's blessings.

No more rubbing tyres.HHeyTheIt mIt maIt makesIt makesMaking Making two motorhomes for us and our bikes is now progressing fast. We hope to leave for Germany at the end of this month to visit a fair. While there, I need to make two more arrangements for skidplates and a 24-volt alternator. The motorhomes won't be finished yet but we can just continue working on the trip. The next video you can see the engine being loaded into the VAN! Also news about my decision for another motorbike.

It is slow going but it is nice to get my new bike. Very short rides are a nice change and already tasting what it's really going to be like. Wand that bike goes with the VAN!

I sold my Africa Twin! But you already knew that. Still, it is an emotional moment which also gives room for new things. Another bike, more information on that in the next video. More goodbye and emotion in this vlog because it is not easy to let go. To start a new life without a home or permanent place to live. But...it is a good choice. It feels right.... I have great faith in the new adventu...

Just a quick update with fun moments at Bert's place. Another video will also be available soon. We are very busy clearing the house for the new owners. All very exciting to enter a new life. I have lived in this beautiful house for 40 years and always enjoyed it. Big steps and big challenges I look forward to with confidence. God's blessing to you all.

There is a lot going on. I sold my house and we are now working on Robin's camper van. I have also bought a bus. Robin has a new motorbike and I have also made a choice. Trans Alp or CBX 500?

I took the decision to sell my house and use an camper van as my home. In this campervan, I will also take my motorbike with me. Perhaps a Honda 500X. I will also sell my Africa Twin. All quite difficult decisions to let go of. And letting go is not easy at my age of now 72. But I want to live the rest of my life in freedom. Freedom that I can generate from my own individuality.

On the drive to the North Cape, we discovered a problem with Robin's Transalp. At first, we couldn't find it. Later, it turned out there was constant oil in the air filter. The drain filled very quickly and had to be emptied with great regularity. In this vlog, the cause and the repair.

If I can do it at then age 70, so can you. Fear paralyses and you need confidence to do it. I am now 73 and preparing to do it again. This time on a new TransAlp.
@@krazyklaas1531 that's the thing my first choice was a teneré or transalp but I see a lot of AT 2017 with low mileage here in the US for good prices so I feel like you get more bike for your bucks...
Mooie video! Ik ben net begonnen met het opknappen en van mijn Alp uit 91, had dat een van de cilinders plots er mee stopte en ik amper kracht in het blok had. heb de Carb schoongemaakt en kwam er achter dat de connectors aan de bobines bij de voor cilinder geoxideerd zijn. Bobines doorgemeten maar waren alle 4 binnen spec. Heb hem nu weer lopend maar blijft een beetje onregelmatig klinken. Misschien binnenkort ook maar een compressie test gaan doen. Ik ben ook van plan zoals jullie om het frame en alles op te knappen en een vers likje verf te geven. Heb genoeg te doen! Alleen nu nog een garage of schuur om in te hobbyen haha!
Dank voor je reactie! De hoogspanning voor de ontsteking is vaak een probleem met deze motor. De kastjes onder de zitting gaan niet zelden kapot. Onregelmatig lopen komt niet van slechte cilinders of zuigerveren. Wel minder kracht door dit soort slijtage. Maar het gaat je lukken. Geduld en veel vragen maakt succes.

I have a Transalp 400 from Japan in Thailand I wonder if I could put cylinders off of a 600 on it but would I have to bore the cases?
That's as much as a 200cc difference. I don't think it's wise to do that. Also, the bolts on the cylders will be different. Not wise to try.

I just returned home in the UK from a trip to France on my Transalp, first time I have biked abroad and first long trip on the Tranny. I thought she might not make it 1800 miles but she did , yes 60MPH was a good cruising speed and good economy , perfect for the french roads , no Autoroute just N roads. The tranny has reliability and presence on the road, the French loved the site and sounds and I hope to go back very soon. Great video , good travels on your bike :)
Hi Klaas Tell us why you suddenly go for the Honda 500X instead of that Transalp you were testing. Is it as good as the Transalp or is it lighter for the camper or does it drive better? And why do you get rid of that beautiful Africa Twin? If you have one, you have everything, don't you?
Het is moeten kiezen tussen omdat de motor in de camper moet passen. De Transalp is wat meer top zwaar maar zou ook passen. Maar gezien het iets lager gewicht van de 500, is dat de keuze geworden. Bovendien heeft ie een mooie stoere uitstraling. Ik heb mijn Africa Twin ook moeten loslaten. Zoals zo veel meer. Of ie beter rijdt? Dat is smaak. Zelf vind in de Transalp heerlijk snel maar dat is dan weer iets van ego? Die 500 is niet snel maar ook niet langzaam. Stuurt ook heel makkelijk. Misschien heb ik je vragen beantwoord?
Wij gaan met het gezin emigreren naar Zweden, misschien zie ik jullie daar nog eens 👍🏻

gorgeous - very well done. I own the newest XL750
Fine bike the Trans Alp 750. We rode it, as you can see in the last video. But the 750 is a bit on the big side to take with us in our Campers. Robin already has a CB 500 which is a bit less top-heavy and easier to fit in the VAN. Thanks for your comments. Always appreciate that mate.

You are such a lovely not too old man with a very young heart! Love your will to improve your skills. I am a not too young lady, but still young (43) and I my learning curve is not that steep either. Since 2020 I am trying to learn offroad riding, but I am still not progressing. On the contrary, it is getting worse and worse. The more I fail, the more I fear. Unfortunately I am not really able to practice it in my very own tempo, because I have a much more confident partner. He does not understand my struggles and why my skills are not improving. In his eyes, progress has to be visible every day. But this is not how it works for me. I have driven about 25tsd kilometers in the last 3 years, and still I am not able to do a u-turn properly.
Thank you for your response. We all have our own talents that only emerge by overcoming fear in love for yourself. That is not selfish. Nor do I have a talent for driving well off road. But I give it a chance and really don't need to ride through very tough routes. But the more you do something you fear, the less fearful you become. That's how it is with all the things we do. And... the other person's judgment doesn't matter. Have fun with motorcycling as a whole.
It's so refreshing to see someone so relaxed riding at their own speed over gravel roads! I'm always so intimidated and resigned when I see other off-roaders driving the trickiest technical tracks like it's nothing, and I myself am on the verge of a nervous breakdown when I see just a few small rocks on a simple dirt track. My trip to the southern Spanish TET starts next week and I'm really dreading it! In the past, my bumbling off-road experiences have been terrible, garnished with panic attacks and lots of crashes. This is my last attempt at tackling gravel roads. If I fail again, I will give it up.
