Pretty good SWR for that price!
remember back in 1991/ 1992 you had to adjust DIP switches to match configuration on PC.
How long does it last the print head? is there any replacements?
They mostly work in banking industry when You require to have hard copy (they print on double / third copy paper) so they were printing for years for 12hrs day - so I would say for printing at home it will work indefinitely and You don't need to consider it. When print-head fail - you will have missing line. If print appear faded and You have new tape - then adjust "copy" lever it will move print head closer to paper and improve result.
Got the same but never test it thank you
Good choice, recommend try one day just to have expectations adjusted. I used my central heating failure as test ground and wash myself for almost week using this heater + portable shower (I also have it on my channel) - I was very happy with result. Better try in controlled environment than when shit hit fan.
@@ElectronicNoobBlog yes I will try this next weekend, but I get petromax Pyron on Friday …
Will try this fix, thank you! If I end up needing to replace the battery though, I have only managed to source similar batteries with only two wires. I guess the third (white) wire is for checking whether the battery has power left, is it possible to convert the two wire ones to three wires?
Look at 3'50" ))
What if I don’t have Mac, What’s the best way to transfer Mini DV to PC without using the RCA cables and what software can I use?
On Windows just grab vintage PC laptop computer that have native fire-wire port so camera can be directly attached. "Magic" is in camera not adapters or software.
Where is the betray from?
Is that an ion or next radio
Yes, It's motorola ION it's running Android so You can install normal apps. You can take look at my other videos I present it more deeply form radio perspective.
My pins on mine were fine had it 6 months. Washed it good recently and it stopped charging. I put a lot of compressed air on the bottom of mug. Then paper towel on bottom of gold rings rubbed hard with some hand sanitizer on it. Now its flashing red on coaster. Hope its working
Can i send you mine. lol
Motorola police scanner
The original battery was 39AH The one you replaced it with was 20ah.... How long does it stay lit for? Compared to the original battery
What do You mean 39Ah? It was not 39Ah, here is video from replacement: ua-cam.com/video/lSDHlfCur-g/v-deo.html On full brightness without any problems last more than whole night.
@@ElectronicNoobBlog that's great...can the pelican charger still charge the lithium battery?
@@Rob-ow3bx I rigged up dedicated lifepo4 charger, just grab generic one - cut plug and wire as on genuine Peli.
So night vision googles are just a camera with ir flash?
Real one have something called amplifier and they amplify weak light, we use IR because human eye can't see it and it's more covert - whole idea is that good military one are enough to amplify moon / stars light enough to make it seen in NVG as daytime. Digital "fake" and cameras (like on video) do not contain ANY amplifier so they REQUIRE light source to operate (still we use IR since it's not visible to human eye).
@@ElectronicNoobBlog thanks
When do you change the uva bulb ?
You should start noticing that UV emission is lower (basically You stop getting sunburns, tanning effect) - of course i'm pretty sure there are dedicated UV watt meters but I never had need for exploring that. There are UV detector cards - maybe You can use them to judge power?
Year? I have one and obviously parallel port. Can I make it work using parallel to USB adapter?
No problems at all, I was often using dot matrix with USB-paralel adapter without negative impact..
@@ElectronicNoobBlog No speed problems? I know parallel port will always be slower than USB - specially when Windows outputs is as graphics.
@@jlatala4655 I don't think so, as long You use USB 2.0 not 1.1 then limiting factor will be LPT protocol not USB adapter.
Awesome thank you that worked
You're welcome!
Can i hack and scan other radio frequency to listen ?
Fantastic... just got a new one, refused to charge out the box... thought I was gonna have to return it which I didn't really want to since it was a really good limited time deal. Tried your solution and 2 minutes later it's fixed and charging! Ideal. As another poster says, no need to remove bottom screws, just the top 4 bolts is fine. So quick and easy! Thanks!
Glad You get it up and running!
Thank u that worked perfectly 🙏
You're welcome!
Worked for me! I have a brand new yeti 500X off the shelf that wouldn’t charge. Stupidly, I waited until the night before my camping trip to take it out of the box and charge it up. This was quick and worked great. Thank you!!
Glad it helped! Hope You will have great time with it!
Hi, could you tell me if this radio is programmable via PC and how many watts does it transmit?
Can I send you base coaster for repair??
Hey, sorry I don't do repairs - I play only with my own stuff that worst case I can throw out if fail.
Awesome presentation brother
Thanks for the visit
Now I’m started talking like youuuuuu
That Is A Very Nice Radio, Right There.
I have the Sherpa 50 and the sherpa 100 with the inverter and a chaining cable so that I can connect the two together i had them in storage for about a month the batteries died and now they won't take a charge Goal Zero tells me they will not repair them so now I'm supposed to just throw them in the trash so they're not zero pollution are they there not environmentally friendly at all sham on Goal Zero they make expensive trash 🤨
It is like 12 years old product and with all my hatred for companies that preventing repair I would never require them to carry any spare part so long. There are standard cells - You can rebuild battery pack, there is nothing that prevent You to do so don't throw it out, tear down, watch some YT videos how to put battery pack and You will get more capacity than when it was brand new. Battery wear out, die out of aging - nothing wrong with it!! Sherpa 100, 50 are brilliant and I like them over latest models! Save it!
I'm strugeling to get the top panel of. That's how I found your video. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one 😅 Got any tips other the apply more force?
Mhhh gięta xD
Number of cells?
24V/1.2V = 20 cells
That would have scared me when I was a kid!! Especially when it had been taken off!
I believe I had on video more scary with metal claw type... previous one was like from "elms street" But still it's crazy... thank god we live in better times.
@@ElectronicNoobBlog Better, but scary times. The world has gone mad! 😳
@@BoB4jjjjs Yes, Gary Jules "Mad World". Good catch!
Veerrryyy niiiiceee
Thank You!
Are you an engineer?
Do you have to have the video playing for all the hours of the hi8 tape which is 4hrs
Yes it's 1:1 speed.
Hi Electronic Noob I have a Townew T1 trashcan and the rocker switch broke on it do you know where I can order a part or are you willing to sell me the rocker from the doner can you have?
The back one? It's looking generic to me, check out Aliexpress, i'm positive You will get one with free shipping. If You can't get same hole size, just get one with slightly larger and drill it out.
You have a great collection of special equipment. Can you remember the Ericsson R250 PRO? Vintage Heavy Duty Resistant Cellphone for policy and security services?
Sorry I have no idea how I managed to miss Your comment, , personally I never saw them fielded, I checked online and looks cool, I think i saw iDEN similar phone from US in past, favorite GSM model of mine was "alcatel one touch max" as You can put regular AAA batteries in case of emergency - but sadly it's just history...
How connect wireless to mobile?
I had one of these for a while. I tested the antenna that came with it on a VNA and on an Anritsu Sitemaster. It was VERY low SWR on 2m & 70cm.
Does it have impedance transformer? Always close to 50Ohm?
Found the cs71 Monitor on the street fully functioning, do you have any idea on how to loop the sound alarm, every time the camera detects movement? I can't seem to remove the blinking "alarm" font...atleast not sure which combination of buttons is needed...I think the cs71 and cs71q are pretty similar, only the brightness / contrast and volume knobs were reversed..
Oh my god thank you, you're amazing. I totally would have assumed the icybox had a fault and replaced it, were it not for your video. I would also add, in addition to having esata/usb correctly selected, you must also have it plugged in to a computer via that method. If the icy box is not connected to a computer at all (no esata and no usb) then it will power down.
Normal IT troubleshooting is to unplug absolutely everything but in this case, unplugging the data cable contributes to the fault.
@@TheShortbiker You are welcome! Exactly! Usability is not strong side of cheap china stuff!
The short one. It's more convenient for what I use it for.
Exactly, who would want be poked in eye?
If you want to buy this radio, do a good Google search, some shops sell them very expensively and some for only 100,-
the short one. The longer one has a guusneck what has proven to be not so good. However the 102 inch Abbree directly mounted will have the best range, even on UHF for which it is actually too long. The short one will be my first choice because it works well and is still fairly compact
I have same problem, any hint's how make gooseneck more stiff? I have this issue in multiple real military (PRC25 style). I was thinking about dipping it in "resin flux" and let dry - could it help with friction inside? Since everyone favor shorter one - we might do field test and compare short blade to "rubber ducky" they are similar length - it might be interesting.
@@ElectronicNoobBlog I think, The best solution would be not to use the gooseneck at all.
@@VicGreenBitcoin I'm afraid it will change electrical length since it's part of antenna?
@@ElectronicNoobBlog Yes. That's why I also hinted at the name Abbree in my first post, these are a good replacement for the original. Having said that, I am personally not a fan of the goose antenna solution 😬
Thank you for the idea, already succeed on file transfer using SmartPTT and NCAT, then I try to go one step further on making the DMR the data connection for MQTT, for some reason, I can't reach the MQTT server in using 13.X.X.X or 192.168.X.X, hopefully you can give me some pointers.
I don't think I work with MQTT, I would start from making sure that server is accessible thru localhost and it's port prior to touching anything else (telnet localhost port). Then check if firewall is not blocking connection, I would just disable it instead guessing that rules are correct. Then I would check MQTT server configuration file to make sure it listen on all interfaces usually by using 0.0.0.0 IP address in config file. If all above work fine, then I would make sure I can ping back my radio from MQTT server (sit on server computer and type ping 13.0.0.x where x would be radio ID attached to USB - if it fail create route). If this also fail I would disable all network interfaces on server computer (ALL OF THEM) and make attached radio "default gateway" if this step resolve issue You know it's about routing table. That would be my generic starting point not specific to Your application but this is how I would attack it.
@@ElectronicNoobBlog thank you very much for your response, MQTT is working on DMR TCP IP, turns out that you need to point the data on specific port, in my case, I use 1883 (MQTT default). I was suprise that the DMR can handle data sending in a 5 second interval, I test it in a sensor simulated environment where publisher PC is sending a JSON file. Also working with multiple LAN connection since my database is in a separate server .Here's what I did. - Set MQTT port to use 1883 - No routing configuration on both computer - I am using XIR P8668i so you need need to disable USB HID Route. - set USB network of MQTT server matrix to 1 for priority. - Test also multiple publisher using Radio group ID (just set the sending interval to min of 25 sec or the DMR will go crazy and disable its USB conenction) I will try this tomorrow using actual modbus RTU with actual sensor and actual data. If it works, I will use it in actual weather station. Ahahaha. Thank you again -
@@thegoodindoorlife You are welcome, glad You get it working. To get better latency, set on radio set preamble to 0, and disable data call confirmed and if possible set it to use UDP instead TCP. I assume since You have data from sensor if one measurement will get lost it won't affect overall - and it will dramatically improve latency and throughput!
I'd like to see Digital Amateur TV done with these
If Motorola would give access to their API it will open lot of possibilities, but I tried and they wanted me to be company so I was unable to meet requirements to apply... I wanted access to network stack and write custom software for sending emails...
@@ElectronicNoobBlog Imagine if they make tablet radios ?

have a question : in specs its said that Inverter Mode DC input 12v 125A - but you have 200 A battery - its it works fine? im worried about that because i have a plan to connect up to 3 * 12v battery`s in parallel with 300A in total. Dont want things to blow-up. Thanks in advance for reply
200Ah is capacity, notice h for hour - You can always go with greater capacity, in general this is good thing with rare exceptions but You can disregard them. So if You plan use 300Ah then no problems - it will just have longer autonomy run time.
@@ElectronicNoobBlog Hey! Thanks for a fast reply! Now i`m more confident in my plans!
What’s the brand and model please
TSE, Tactical Support Equipment - just goggle their page - they have couple models - I very enjoy can size version but don't go into commercial UHF so I switched to this.
@@ElectronicNoobBlog 5k is a lot it’s an awesome antenna but can’t afford it I’ll see if I can make one
@@davidperalta876 It's not worth anything near, cost is due to low volume. Definitely You can do something from measuring tape - I seen it with great success. Anyway add it to eBay watch list, one day someone will list it in normal price and You get notification:)
Thanks for the video. Any chance you can get your hands on the new Inrico devices, either the S380 or IRC380?
Thanks for comment, I don't think so - from my point of view it looks to expensive You go into "Hytera multimode" price point territory but in return You got low quality stuff. I had couple PoC devices from Inrico and all had issues. If that would be, 200-300 euros - I will consider because I like concept but for their asking price +1K EUR I would buy something used from Hytera like PDC680 - and those devices were deployed in real life and have some level of assurance they actually have know-how in pulling it off and maintaining software. Just my opinion maybe they done 180 and now make great quality.
